Pros:

Cleared acne, decreased appetite and resulting weight loss, breasts enlarged slightly, only decreased libido slightly

Cons:

This is a big one: it made my hair fall out.

I was on Yaz for 3 months. I had a bit of acne on my face and really bad cyst acne on my back and chest. Yaz cleared all of that up after the first couple of weeks. This pill was absolutely perfect...except of course for the hair loss. It was pretty bad, to the point where my hair was thinned out and you could see my scalp in the front. As soon as I switched to a diff pill, the hair loss stopped. Not everyone will experience the hair loss and in fact that is a possibility on any pill.

Pros:

No pregnancy, makes periods more regular

Cons:

Hasn't done anything for cramps (possibly even made them worse), leg pains, some neausea, serious side effects more likely than other birth control pills

I went on the pill for the sake of birth control & my doctor prescribed this one to me because I have moderate acne. I've been on it for a little over a year and I haven't had any serious side effects but I also haven't really had any positive effects either. It hasn't done anything for period cramps- they might have even gotten worse- I've been having leg pains, and I don't think it's done anything for my acne at all (but it hasn't made it worse either). I only pay around $3.00 because I'm on a health plan covered by my school, but without the health plan it's around $20.00. To be honest I didn't do much research when I wanted to go on the pill- my doctor just prescribed this one to me- but I learned (as of yesterday actually) that there's a lawsuit being filed against the company that makes YAZ because they don't tell us that the risk of serious side effects (such as blood clots) is higher with this pill than with most other pills. This information has made me really worried! I have an appointment with my doctor at the end of January and I'm gong to ask her to switch me to another birth control pill that's safer, just to be on the safe side.

Pros:

Helped acne
Shorter periods

Cons:

None

When I first started YAZ, my acne was terrible. It was all over my t-zone, my face was red and splotchy, and it was just a awful. Within the 1st 2 months of taking the pill, my face cleared up an insane amount. All I really had was scarring. But lately, 4 months or so, my skin has been breaking out again. I feel like no matter what I do, I look like a mess. I don't know if maybe I've just been on this particular pill for too long and I need to switch, but it doesn't seem to be helping my acne anymore. I'd say that I recommend you give it a try, but it may not be the miracle cure.

Pros:

No acne, no babies, lighter period (4 days a month)

Cons:

Sever cramps (used to never cramp), complete loss of sex drive

Yaz was very effictiev, I never broke out and for a while my sex drive was fine. But I've been on it for almost 2 years if not more and my sex drive is completely gone, I have cramps that make me want to die, and I just want to switch to another birth control pill now.

Pros:

So Far None

Cons:

Little Breakouts

I have just started using Yaz. I am a little hesitant to go on Accutane and chose this as a hopefully safer option. So far I have not seen to much improvement, but, my acne pimples have reduced in size. Hopefully this will work!

Pros:

light periods
no cramps
consistent periods
breasts are more firm

Cons:

occasional breakouts during periods

does what's it's suppose to, but I don't know about the acne management. I had acne before the pill and thought I might give it a try. Yaz did little to no difference with my acne, but I thought i be on it anyhow to practice safe sex. I am going on YASMIN next month. It's has a little bit more estrogen than Yaz and is suppose to help with acne, so hopefully this goes well.

Pros:

kept break outs to very minimum

Cons:

-i was on yaz for 2 years,,then i stopped taking it because i couldnt afford it, now my face is covered in cysts that will not go away!! ive never had this in my life, my dermatologist says this is common with yaz and yasmin .. ive never been more depressed and embarassed in my entire life my face is ruined. im a crater face now. ;/ i guess im goin to have to try accutane soon.

ive been back on it for a week now after 5 months of not being on it.. im trying anything to get my face back to normal!! but what does this mean i have to be on yaz for the rest of my life ??! this sucks.. it is this only pill that cleared up my face so i guess i recommend it for acne?

Pros:

Shorter period
No weight gain
No moodiness

Cons:

Made me break out A LOT more than usual
The progesterone component of this pill (and Yasmin) has a higher risk of causing blood clots and liver problems, etc. than other pills
After about 3 months I started feeling sick every time I would take the pill

Yaz was okay for birth control and PMS for me... other than that it was a pain in the butt. It made my acne a lot worse than it was! Here's a tip for everyone starting on this pill... if your acne actually seems to get better when your on your period. Then this pill isn't working for you. Plus the adverse effects are just nasty, I was reading about many women who had to be sent to the hospital with pulmonary embolisms, and blood clots or who's liver was damaged, and they had been on other birth control pills that had not caused those things. Thats just scary! Everyone's body is different, Yaz apparently just hated my face :( Hopefully it works better for others!

Pros:

Gets rid of acne after three months, shorter periods, birth control, weight control

Cons:

After I decided to get off Yaz, my acne came back 100 times worse and was put on Accutane

At first you don't really see a difference other than mood swings and loss of sex drive. After about 2 and a half or three months though, my skin cleared up DRAMATICALLY. I never broke out anymore and my skin was perfect. I wanted to get off of it though cause I think birth control is kind of a pain in the ass. Little did I know about 2 months after getting off of Yaz my acne would come ROARING back 100 times worse than its ever been. Huge cysts everywhere constantly. Now I have been put on Accutane which I really didn't want to do but it's working just fine. If you are using Yaz to control Acne, be prepared for the possibility of even worse acne once you get off of it!
