Pros:

clearer skin
slightly fuller breasts

Cons:

moodiness
weight gain

I have used this for 6-8 months now and I do have clearer skin than before. However, that being said it did get worse the first few weeks and to be honest with you, you really have to be very patient to see the results. My skin was so bad and after 3 months of using it i did not see much difference and did consider stopping it. But I did not have any back ups so I thought well, let me just keep using and hoping. After about 6-7 months of using it, now my skin seems more even, and I have less breakouts. I cant help the acne scars and spots already on my skin, but now when I apply foundation it looks even, and people think that it is my actual skin. Yes, I did initially experience much more moodiness than I do now, lost sexual appetite for a while, and gained a few pounds (which I did not mind since I am an AU size 6) but I still fit in my clothes. I think if you are aware that these are the side effects and take charge as to not let it affect you, it actually works. I also used a gel called Differin 0.05% prescribed by a doctor alongside when I started the pill. Although I do not use it now. My GP also recently advised me that using QV cream as moisturizer can also do wonders for your skin and I have started using it. It is available in stores and pharmacies. It is great especially for dry skin.

Pros:

clearest skin i've ever had...
BUT DONT LET THAT FOOL YOU

Cons:

WEIGHT GAIN
nausea
***made skin 20X worse (no joke) after discontinuing usage****

unless you plan on taking this for the rest of your days, i would strongly suggest something else. This ruined my life! I had clear skin for 6 or 7 months which was great (took this for 9 months), but the weight I was putting on forced me to stop using it. Ever since I have developped cystic acne (it was moderate before) along with bad acne on my back which i have NEVER had before taking this. I wanted to warn everyone about this. TRY ACCUTANE!

So happy!!!
Here is my prestory: I had perfect clear skin all my life. When I turned 20 I started breaking out in little bumps on my forehead then on my chin...by this time I started trying different acne creams like differin, tactuo, clindamycin, azone you name it. Even though I noticed my skin would regenerate faster and the pimple would not live as long (because my skin was peeling and red all the time thanks to the creams) my acne was getting worse...I was starting to get cystic acne on my cheeks, very deep painful ones on my chin. Tactuo actually gave me a very bad allergic rash on my cheeks. Its very harsh, wouldnt recommend using it. My skin was also getting to be veeery oily. Then i started trying different antibiotics like tetracycline....then when it didn't work after couple month i tried doxycycline.....I was dong different facials, peels, microdermabrasions..... I also went on birth control - Aviane. As months went by and i was trying everything including carefully watching my diet and my acne kept getting worse. My self esteem was going down so fast where it got to the point where I was so depressed I was crying all the time and I would skip classes at university just so I don't have to go out in public. I was seriously about to beg my doctor for Accutane when I read up that Aviane is actually not very good birth control for your skin because it doesn't have any antiandrogens and Diane 35 even though has lots of side effects and an elephant dose of estrogen has promising results for people who suffer with hormonal acne (which I concluded was my case) so after a year of suffering with acne i decided to give it a try. Diane 35 results: First week I took it I broke out very weirdly in unusual spots and more then usual. During second week one day I woke up and I am not even kidding - MY SKIN WAS NOT OILY ANYMORE! It was very sudden and felt like a miracle. No shine at all. My hair wasn't getting greasy as fast either. I was very happy even though I still broke out like usual before my period, I finally felt like there was hope. Then for a few months I would still break out but definitely not as much and my old marks had time to heal. I had one week where I would not have even a single pimple and another week get a usual amount of acne - deep painful ones. But my advice - don't get discouraged!! Just keep taking it. 4 months in, my skin drastically improved! I was getting may be 4-5 pimpels a month and the quality of my skin wasnt rough and bumpy anymore it was sooo smooth and I was finally getting some even skintone. I stopped taking all those useless antibiotics and topical creams that just gave me rashes and made my skin super sensitive. My depression went away, I was still obsessed with foundation and a bit self-conscious but I felt normal and healthy. Right now it's almost a year since a started taking Diane 35 and I can say that i am 100% acne free! I could go a month without having even 1 zit and im sooo happy! I can go outside with no make up at all and feel good about my skin. I think everybody deserves that! I am still very careful with my skin regime though. Side affects; Yes I got very moody first month or two while taking Diane 35 but I was already very depressed so I can't say that it influenced my life in a negative way. And yes I gained may be 5 pounds since I started taking it, my appetite really went up and my boobs got a bit bigger...and I still carry that weight. Yes for the first bit my sexual desire was almost non existent ....but now that I think about this it was all SO WORTH IT! I was very unhappy my family doctor wanted to put me on antidepressants and I would even avoid seeing my parents and my boyfriend. This pill saved me and I recommend it to anyone with hormonal acne. Oh and my moodiness and libido is back to normal...I guess the body just needed sometime to adjust. As far as coming off it to conceive a baby I am really scared because of all the reviews that acne comes right back :/ But please give this pill a try before taking accutane! It might be just as much as a miracle for you as it turned out to be for me :)

Pros:

clears up acne (fast!)
babyless

Cons:

WEIGHT GAIN (15 lbs)
mood swings
ginormous boobs

I've been taking it for 4 moths now, I was taking Yasmine before. I do like the fact that it clears up acne...but the weight gain thing is too noticeable and drastic. Plus, I naturally have bigger breasts and on this pill I have gained a cup size. Which makes me look even bigger. I would not recommend this pill to anyone, unless they have a severe (hormonal) acne problem and the weightgain is not an issue.

Pros:

clear skin

Cons:

really bad migraines
tender breasts
loss of libido
weird appetite
skin horrible and 50x worse when coming off it for the first time
bloating

I was first prescribed Diane when I had a small breakout on my face. it was amazing. My skin was clear and luminous and I was getting comments from everyone about how good my skin looked. After a few months though I started to get terrible migraines, bloating and had no sex drive whatsoever. I went off it after 2 years as my skin was looking great however after about a month my face broke out into horrible acne much worse than it was prior to using diane. I decided to go back on diane as my skin was so bad and have been on it for two months but my skin is not clearing at all

TRY IT!
Before I start taking Diane 35, I was very skeptical about it, especially after reading all those negative side effects. To give you an idea of the severity of my acne problem, I had tried out a handful of different oral antibotics for almost a year, all the tropical treatments, and almost the OTC remedy/skincare/vitamin etc. You name it, I have tried it!!!!. My dermatologist was happy to prescribe me with Accutane, in fact, he even said that it would be a good option for me if I want my skin to clear up forever. I have consulted him about taking oral contraceptive, yet he said it wouldn't be too useful/permanently clear up my face. Above all, tho my period are not very regular, I dont have much cysts but mainly tons of small=medium pimples all over my face except my nose area. They do not really look like hormonal acne. I have struggled with acne for so long, it has ruined my social life and self-confidence, and almost turned me into a difference person. I can't stand it anymore, and before going into Accutane, I decided to give this a try. And GUYS THIS STUFF IS AMAZING!!!!! My face is cleared up within 3 months!!!!!! I felt like I have waited too long to try this out! I still have small pimples here and there, whiteheads, redness and all that. But at least my skin is smooth again! Regarding the side effects, yes, there are some side effects but it's not as scary as it may sound. For first month, I have experienced continuous spotting for like a good 10-15 days, sore (and bigger) breast, a bit migraine for a couple days and during the 7-day breaks (but nothing a painkiller couldn't deal with) , and just some pretty bad mood swing. However, there's no major discomfort of any sort. And my skin was better than ever. Plus most of the side effects got better once your body are well-adjusted to the drug. I didn't gain any weight at all, in fact, I started to work out more while I was on the drug. I lost some weight and now have slightly bigger boobs. For any girls who's suffering adult acne out there (ATTENTION: ADULT ACNE), give this drug a try before taking Accutane. Maybe it would take some time to work, maybe it's might not a permanent solution (touchwood), it did help regulate your hormone level and that really helps with your acne.

Hi Nancy, Thanks for your honest review. I need some help. It has been 15 days that I have been on Doxycycline and topical retinoid treatment. My dermatologist wants me to continue Doxycycline for another 15 days and then start Accutane. My gynecologist has prescribed me Diane35 for hormonal treatment. Can I intake Accutane and Diane35 at the same time? Thanks in advance.

Pros:

Acne & Oily skin Reduced
Reduction of facial hair & slower regrowth
Regulation of periods
Breast size increase
Hormonal Control

Cons:

Mood Swings
Bloating of stomach
Cramping

I was put on Diane since I was diagnosed with severe Endometriosis and PCOS and hadn't had a period in over two years. It's had alot of positive effects for me since my hormones were completely out of whack before. It's brought down my androgen levels and insured the possibility of me and my fiance having children in the future. I've had some moodiness and cramping and bloating but it's nothing compared to the pain I went through having cysts burst constantly before. It's been an absolute godsend for me.

Pros:

- acne cleared up within a couple months
- no mood swings or depression (that I noticed at least)
- no babies (it is now approved to use as birth control in Canada)

Cons:

- after being on it for about 6 months my hair started falling out a lot
- gained about 10 lbs (but lost it fairly quickly)

I was put on Diane 35 by my dermatologist for acne (although I later used it for actual birth control), after trying many topical treatments as well as oral medications such as tetracycline and minocycline I think it was called? At first I thought it was great, before I started the Diane 35 my forehead was constantly covered in a whole bunch of really small pimples, and those all went away within a couple months. However last winter I noticed my hair started falling out a lot more than usual (if I ran my fingers through my hair I would be pulling out clumps, and I was clogging the shower drain). When it didn't stop when winter was over (originally I thought my scalp might just be dry or something), and after going through a whole bunch of blood tests, my doctor thought it might have been caused by the Diane pills. So I just switched a couple weeks ago to ortho-lo. I didn't know other people were having the hair loss problem also with Diane, and I was wondering if there was someone who could tell me how long after they stopped the pill until their hair stopped falling out?? So I would watch for the hair loss problem, but otherwise it worked great for acne!
