Pros:

I did not get pregnant whilst taking this BC (as far as I'm aware).

Cons:

-Depression
-I turned into a crazy bitch
-Appetite increase
-No increase in boob size.
-Skin worsened for first month and then returned to light acne (what I was dealing with before starting Diane)

I started taking this for my skin and I saw no immediate or long term improvements. I took it for three months and after seeing little to no improvement in my skin coupled with hideous mood swings, general depression and slight weight gain I decided to give my script refill a miss.

Pros:

bigger boobs? if you can call that a pro?

Cons:

skin actually got so much worse. like 8 times worse. cystic acne spread from under my jaw line to around my mouth, and my cheeks.

i'm 24 and i have dry skin, not oily by any standard. i didn't expirience acne until last year, so the doctor assuming my only recent bad skin was caused by my hormones put me on Diane35 3 months ago. however as i said before my skin actually got worse. Now its only been three months, and i am wondering if thats normal, but the scarring the last few breakouts have left behind have devastated me. topical treatments do nothing, and i really do not want to resort to accutane. so today i'm going to see a chinese doctor. hes helped me with other things before when no one else could. i really wish this HAD worked for me, and i'm sure it will for others, i guess i'm not one of those lucky 'take the pill to fix you acne' people.

Pros:

Boobs grew
Skin cleared up somewhat

Cons:

Horrendous mood swings
Weight gain

I was on Diane-35 for 3 months before I went back to my doctor and asked to be swapped onto Yasmine. It worked for my skin, which continued to clear up once I had changed onto Yaz. However, it made me awfully moody. I would cry over nothing and I was never in a good mood, I felt awful all the time. My boobs definitely grew a lot! But then again, I gained a bit of weight all over.

Pros:

clear skin
less oily

Cons:

acne comes back when you stop
severe hair loss when you stop the pill
weight gain

It is a wonderful pill to treat acne. However, it is not a cure. It just solves the problem when you are on it, but when you come off you end up same as before if not worse. The worst thing about this pill is that when you quit, you get the worst withdrawl effects. For me... I had severe hair loss. I lost almost 60% of my hair. Its been 6 months and still is falling out. Totally not worth it. There are many many women that this happens too, so you just have to weigh your options.

Pros:

Mostly Clear Skin
Smoother Skin
More even complextion
Reduced oil production

Cons:

Decreased Libido
Mood Swings
Breast Tenderness

Diane 35 was recommended to me by a friend. I was specifically looking for a BC that would help my mild-sometimes moderate acne. I tried Yaz and Ortho before but Diane 35 worked the best to help clear up my skin. I used Diane 35 for 9 months and it really helped clear my skin, reduce oil production, and made my skin more smooth. I got lots of compliments on how nice my skin looked. I did not have any weight gain but I was already exercising 5x/week and eating healthy. I decided to go off BC because I really felt like the mood swings and decreased libdo were getting worse. I had read some reviews of women who had terrible side effects going off Diane 35. I had virtually none. My skin continued to stay clear for months after after I stopped using it and it is still better today than it was before I started BC. I still get a small pimple here and there but it's much more manageable. If my skin got a lot worse I would go back on Diane 35. I also recommend using organic unrefined cocconut oil at night. It helps reduce acne scares and helps prevent new zits because it has natural anti-bacterial and anti-inflamatory properties. I suggest using this 4-5 times per week only at night. Your skin will feel a little greasy but that should be expected. The bottom line is that everyone responds to BC differently. It took me a few times to find the right one. You need to give it at least 3 months to see if it works. Now I'm not on any but I believe that my skin is better now because I was on it. The experience also made me realize that my skin (and no one else's!) will never be perfect but it's the inside confidence is what makes you shine! People aren't looking at your pimples as much as you think they are! You are your own worst critic.

Pros:

Increased breast size, glowing skin, no PMS, no menses!

Cons:

Reduced sex drive (but good for single women who needs no sex!)

The first month I took Diane35, I already felt good. I saw a big improvement in my skin - a glowing face and no acne on my back. Plus, my breasts seem to "swell" a bit more, I don't have mood swings or depression due to PMS, and I don't see any weight gain. I'm happy that I have a reduced sex drive as well because I am single currently and do not wish to have too high a libido ;) I'm on my second month now and happy. Note: on the first month, I had spotting (irregular bleeding),but now it totally stopped.

Pros:

clearer skin
slightly fuller breasts

Cons:

moodiness
weight gain

I have used this for 6-8 months now and I do have clearer skin than before. However, that being said it did get worse the first few weeks and to be honest with you, you really have to be very patient to see the results. My skin was so bad and after 3 months of using it i did not see much difference and did consider stopping it. But I did not have any back ups so I thought well, let me just keep using and hoping. After about 6-7 months of using it, now my skin seems more even, and I have less breakouts. I cant help the acne scars and spots already on my skin, but now when I apply foundation it looks even, and people think that it is my actual skin. Yes, I did initially experience much more moodiness than I do now, lost sexual appetite for a while, and gained a few pounds (which I did not mind since I am an AU size 6) but I still fit in my clothes. I think if you are aware that these are the side effects and take charge as to not let it affect you, it actually works. I also used a gel called Differin 0.05% prescribed by a doctor alongside when I started the pill. Although I do not use it now. My GP also recently advised me that using QV cream as moisturizer can also do wonders for your skin and I have started using it. It is available in stores and pharmacies. It is great especially for dry skin.

Pros:

Cleared up acne
Blackheads almost all gone
Skin and hair less oily
Oral contraceptive
Didn't have to use all those topical acne potions and lotions

Cons:

Side effects that started 12 months after commencment of Diane 35.
Blurred vision
Mood changes
Decrese in libido
Slight weight gain (4kg)

My Dr prescribed Diane 35 for my hormonal acne. At first I tried the cheapo version of this pill which gave me extremely bad migraines. I went back to the Dr and she said to try actual Diane 35. This worked beautifully for the first (approx) 12 months, my pimples almost completely went. I would get maybe 1 or 2 small pimples a month instead of the 5 to 10 new pimples a day before Diane 35. For once in my life I was happy with my skin. I then started to get weird side effects after those 12 months including headaches, blurred vision (I thought I needed Glasses) and increased vaginal discharge and itching. I thought I had a STD, so I had all the STD tests, which all came back negative. My Dr could not tell me what this could be caused from, so I came to the conclusion the only thing it could be was the pill. So I went off Diane 35 and those side effects have gone completely. I also have felt my mood has been alot better since being off the pill, I feel alot happier and seem to have more energy. However my skin has gone feral since being off the pill, the pimples, blackheads and oil are back at full force. I would recommend women try Diane 35 for great skin but be aware of side effects which can be different for everyone. So now I'm back on the search for something to help my skin....again!!!

Pros:

clear skin
fuller, firmer boobs
thicker hair

Cons:

extreme nausea!!!

I started taking Diane 35 a couple of years ago and I was amazed at how quickly my skin cleared up - maybe a couple of months. I was taking it for a combination of acne and folliculitis, and my skin was so crazy I didn't even want to go out in public sometimes - I even called in sick at work once in a while if it was really bad. I was in my mid-thirties and had had great skin all my life and then SUDDENLY got this weird acne, and I was very self conscious about it. I tried all kinds of treatments for it - laser, antibiotics (both oral and topical, for the folliculitis as well as acne) but in the end NOTHING worked except for Diane 35. I stayed on it for 6 or 8 months, and I'd say the effects lasted for a year or so, after which my skin got slowly worse, and now I'm back on it. Right now I'm in the phase where my skin is pushing all the gunk to the surface, so I'm getting little painful whiteheads all over the place - even my back, where I don't normally get zits. Hopefully it will clear up soon! I feel very pukey, but it's worth it. I didn't get the weight gain that a lot of women do, but I work out a lot. If I start to gain weight, I'll exercise more, or I'll even put up with the extra weight. Who's prettier - a pudgy woman with great skin, or a skinny hardbody woman with bad skin? I think that whether you gain weight or lose it, whether you experience hair thickening or loss... all depends on your hormone balance you start with. Women who gain a ton of weight probably end up with estrogen levels that are much too high, whereas women who don't probably have acne caused by excess androgens, and Diane 35 balances them out nicely. (I gave this a 5 out of 5 despite the nausea - nothing is perfect, and women have to suffer to be beautiful.)
