Pros:

I had tried everything and nothing had worked. I had moderate acne made worse with CSP (compulsive skin picking). This made my skin less oily and is free unlike everythinge else.

Cons:

Slight weight gain, makes you very dependant and scared of coming off it. Only prevention not a cure. After 3 years I came off it, got acne x 100 and begged to go back on it.

It never completely cleared up my skin. I started it when I was 20 and have only just come off it at 33 (1 month ago)! My skin has been clear for over a year and I'm hoping it's more to do with my age. But I will be keeping a close eye on any skin changes. A couple of things I have noticed is that I have a crazed sex drive now - had no idea my sex drive had gone down so much! Also I am less hungry all the time. I would only recommend this pill if you are truly desparate. Acne can make you so depressed, you just have to weigh up the pros and cons. I think it's best to see if you grow out of it rather than becoming dependant ona drug.

Pros:

Gave me beautiful clear, non oily skin. Free on the NHS, easy to take, doubles up as contraception.

Cons:

Drs make you come off it after a while. Eventually between my use of this pill and Yasmin I developed lots of side effects - non existent sex drive, night sweats, hot flashes, dry eyes, dry/brittle hair - basically menopausal/aging symptoms (aged 21)

10 months ago I stopped using Dianette after 6 years of on-off use (frequent use for about a year at a time each time), apart from my dry eyes (which are still present but have improved) the other horrible side effects have long gone. My regular periods returned straight away also. However, unfortunately....gradually my acne has returned too and has been getting me down again these past few months. It's a bitch...you can play around with synthetic hormones to block the hormone that is giving you oily skin and acne but you need this hormone for other things. Dianettes' eostrogen levels are too high and of course it blocks androgens (which we do need) just not to the extent that they cause us to suffer from acne. Apparently I can't have it all - I can either choose to look sexy without the ability to enjoy or care about sex OR I can enjoy and desire sex and not look sexy...grr.

Pros:

less spots, bigger boobs, skin less oily, hair less greasy, feel safe

Cons:

after drinking on a night out i vomiting all of next day, never used to happen before

very happy I went on it, cleared up all my spots, just get one or two now, improved my confidencee. I now know exaclty when my period will arrive, never stuck and its a lot lighter. however after nights out and drinking, not even that much, am sick the next day. this never used to happen before, i had never even thrown up from drinking at all. I changed what and how much i drank but it didnt make a difference. i went to the doctor about it and she explined its because of what the pill does to your liver. gave me the option of coming off it onto a lighter one but since i m worried bout my spots coming back she put me on another 6 months and then is taking me off it. she s alsoo sending me for blood tests just to make sure it is the pill thats causing it. Will be on the pill 9 months in total. my weight has alwyas fluctuated so cant really blame the pill.

Pros:

clears acne
skin less oily
stops period pains

Cons:

remembering to take it daily
can take a few months to see difference

I started using Dianette when i was 16 as i had quite bad spots on face and back. After 6 months my skin was clear and not oily at all. I would still get the occasional spot but nothing major. as for side affects i never had any even after being on it for so long. I stopped taking it a year ago after being on it for 8 years. i read in lots of reviews that it shouldnt be taken for very long due to long term side affects, so i though i would come off it to see how my skin and body react. After 2 months my period returned and so did some spots, how ever not as much as before. A year on i am still off dianette and have been using Benzoyle Peroxide on for my spots it seems to be working i still get the odd breakout around my period time. have notice my mood has been more up and down and peroid pains are back but i'm going to carry on without for now.

Pros:

Defo starting to improve my skin, bigger boobs, weight gain (usually a size 6 now a size 8) very happy... stupidly horny all the time. which is great, think the neighbours want to move tho.

Cons:

AWFUL first 2 weeks, loads of spots felt depressed, cried alot. very tired, now in month 2, and still really tired all the time, feel abit down sometimes

Love the bigger boobs and high sex drive. Lovin the weight gain but lots of women may not. takes quite a while to start working on the acne. only just noticing a difference now and i am at the end of pack 2. HATING the tiredness. really getting in the way of my life. My acne was never that bad, i never had a spot in my life until 2 years ago, they were just getting worse and worse i finally had enough and went crying to my doctor. the first 2 weeks were the worst in my life. felt very depressed, my whole face broke out, didnt want to do anything. feel much better now tho. would recomend but not to anyone prone to depression

Pros:

*Has helped to clear skin up...

Cons:

* Sore boobs
* Disrupted my period
* Stil have period pain & spots

I have been taking Dianette for 3 months now. Within 2 weeks I noticed improvement in my skin. Previously, I used to get an itchy rash of really small spots, which used to be really angry and red alot of the time. After two weeks, the redness and lumpiness had gone down significantly. Now, however, I'm not sure if Dianette has reached its best. My skin doesn't seem to be improving much more. I still get spots, and am not confident in my skin. There are tiny marks from the previous spots/rash. Where I got spots the worst, though they're not as bad, I'm still getting them. It does definitly help, and I much prefer my skin now to how it was before. It hasn't been the miraculous skin clearing treatment I thought it would be though. I'm still looking for something else....

Pros:

bigger boobs, no period pain, clears up spots, no weight gain

Cons:

severe headaches every other day.

i have just started using dianette for hormones, to stop spots and abnormal hair growth. so far my boobs have been tender nearly everyday but i dont mind as theyve gotten bigger, but the headaches are very annoying, however so far the pill has done what it is supposed to with minimal side effects.

Pros:

Clears up skin dramatically, gets rid of scars and marks, skin looks brighter and clearer

Cons:

Can take some time to work, slight mood swings which can calm down slowly

Hi... I have been suffering from acne for quite a few years now. About 2 years ago I went on Dianette. Although I cant remember exactly how long it took to take effect, it worked wonders for me. I felt so much more confident and less self-conscious. I hardly suffered from side effects such as weight gain and mood swings calmed down after a while. A few months ago I stopped Dianette thinking there's no way the acne will come back. Within a month, I was breaking out badly again. After a month I went straight back on it. This is my 3rd month of taking it and I still dont see much improvement. Did anyone else stop Dianette? Did their acne come back? Does Dianette work again, if you come off it for a bit? And how long does it take roughy to take effect! Im on my 3rd month now and still see no signs of improvement! So frustrating! Thanks everyone! x

Pros:

worked to clear acne quickly, skin less oily

Cons:

developed worse severe acne when i come off and increase in upper lip hair growth which has never resolved to this day

tried it for 16 months, cleared up skin except started getting forehead acne after a year. side effects included nausea, headaches, DVT. thought it was great when i was on it. when came off acne came back with a vengeance and got dark shadow on upper lip. absolutely regrent now taking it! had tried antibiotics, etc but all now fail. only thing that temporarily cleared it was pregnancy.
