Pros don't outweigh cons
For me, the cons of dianette definitely outweigh the pros. Although it did completely clear my acne, it took nearly a year to do so. Within the first few months of taking the pill I started getting hot and cold flashes which worsened with time. I also found that I became very anxious and paranoid whilst taking dianette, although I only noticed this after I stopped taking it. I have been on my new pill, cilest, for around 3 months now and as well as keeping my skin clear I am not feeling depressed, bloated, and nauseous like I was with dianette. My hot and cold flashes are starting to lessen, although I still get them from time to time- for me this was the most frustrating side effect of dianette which no one else seemed to get?! My advice would be to definitely consider the pros and cons of dianette, had I been informed about them by my doctor I would not have taken it.

feel like giving up
I never had terrible skin as a young teenager, it wasn't not until my late teens where I used antibiotics to help keep my skin clear as i tended to get a few under the skin sore, hard spots. I'm now into my first year of my 20's and i can honestly say I've never felt so rubbish about myself, so i went to the doctors and he prescribed me with Dianette. With the first strip of pills i didn't see a decrease on the amount of acne spots on my face, they're still sore, hard and very red..in my opinion they're much, much worse. I've just started my second strip of pills but i don't know whether to give up! I'm also one of those people who has a very short fuse, and currently I feel it's at the shortest it's ever been, i cannot seem to control my behavior.

Worth trying
I took Dianette for 18 months for acne. I didn't have any bad side effects, although I was a bit achey the first month or so, this wore off. It didn't do wonders for my acne but it did calm it down quite a lot. I say it's worth trying (especially if you take a contraceptive pill anyway) as it did help, and others have had great success. I have since come off Dianette and went onto Cilest, which I would highly recommend as it cleared my skin up within a month. (Unfortunately I got really bad water retention so now have to switch after 4 months, and I'm gutted to come off it, but others may not get this side effect :) )

Great first time, not so great second time

Pros:

Worked first time round

Cons:

Caused bad periods

I first started this years ago and it cleared me up and gave me amazingly flawless skin. Unfortunately I had to come off it for 2 years, when I started again it didn't make any difference to my acne.

Helps

Pros:

Improves skin!
I didn't experience any side effects (although some do)

Cons:

Doesn't reduce oil production
Didn't clear up all my acne (note why I'm now on Accutane)

I took Dianette for over 8 months (I actually still take it now but in conjunction with Accutane). It helped improve my skin considerably, If you're on it now then have patience, it took about six months to really kick in.

Pros:

Bigger boobs
Slight improvement in skin
Less oily skin and hair

Cons:

Anxiety
Mood swings and constant crying
Headaches and fatigue

I can honestly say that going on Dianne was one of the worst decisions I have ever made regarding my skin. I suffered a horrendous breakout during the first 3 months of use and also experienced extreme mood swings, severe period pain, constant headaches and fatigue. By the 4th my skin had cleared up slightly but I begun having serious anxiety attacks and fits of crying which made me unable to continue my day to day life. Having acne is sh*t but being on this pill made me grateful that at least having acne made me sane. I'm not saying everyone will experience the side effects that I did and for most the pill works effectively. I would recommend giving it a few months and see how it works for you!

Pros:

Cleared skin on my back (but my skin wasn't that bad there)

Cons:

- Mood swings
- Loss of sex drive
- Weight gain
- Didn't clear skin

Had the WORST time on this pill, I thought id give it ago as pills have different effects on different people but yes the horrid reviews I had read were right! I have pretty bad acne on jawline and I don't think dianette helped it at all sometimes I thought it was improving but then got worse. I tried this for 4 months and I know people say you have to be patient but I had to come off because it was ruining my life! I was depressed all the time, got headaches, really tired and I felt like my relationship with my partner was suffering because I just didn't want to have sex! My stomach was so bloated all the time, I looked about 3 months pregnant and I had these weird feelings like I had eaten NOTHING for a week even though I could have had a meal half an hour before! Well I gave it a try and I can say I will NEVER do this again id rather have spots! Im using duac and retin A from the doctors and this helps more.

Pros:

Clears skin, hair isn't as greesy, skins more matted,
Bigger booobs, FREEE

Cons:

period pains very painful, takes about 4/6 months to work. apparenty hard to come off, vomiting after alcohol,

I have suffered with acene from the age of 14. i have extremely sensitive skin meany any tropical lotions and proxide creams just burn and dry out my skin. I also scar easily and as antibiotics weren't helping in the slightest i felt i had no other choice than to try a contraception pill. In the first few weeks i noticed my skin had become alot less greesy and i didn't get any big red spots anymore. I have beeen on dianette for about 4 months now and spots have completly cleared. i noticed my boobs got bigger with in a month and as i was already a huge size this was quite anoying. my periods are alot more controled now and regular although the first day of my period the cramps are HELL. i wouldn't recommend anything other than this pill as it simply works wonders for your acene. It also makes your sex drive extremley high. people need to stop baming the pill on all there problems, maybe your gaining weight because your eating more.

Pros:

bigger boobs, no period pain, clears up spots, no weight gain

Cons:

severe headaches every other day.

i have just started using dianette for hormones, to stop spots and abnormal hair growth. so far my boobs have been tender nearly everyday but i dont mind as theyve gotten bigger, but the headaches are very annoying, however so far the pill has done what it is supposed to with minimal side effects.
