Pros:

Er... NOTHING. Well okay having regular periods and the whole birth control thing was good.

Cons:

Weight gain, nausea, terrible headaches, almost vomiting, skin actually getting slightly WORSE- if anything at all.

Okay so this was hell for me. Not only did I gain weight (I am very active and eat low cal healtn foods) but I also suffered illness when on this too. I won't go into that though, I'll try to stick to the acne side of things. I have been on Diannette twice, and the first time it did nothing for me skin at all- although I was still a bit ill on it- but the second time my acne got worse and more cystic. I was a lot more sick feeling the second time around. I was expecting good things but was disappointed. :( If you must try this do expect weight gain. I gained quite a lot of weight and I am active- I'm still losing it now!

Pros:

Completely cleared my skins after about 2 months of taking dianette. Skin less oily.

Cons:

Weight gain and chocolate cravings.

I'm going to continue to take dianette until the doc tells me to come off it. However am beginning to think if its worth it, the weight gain is out of contol, no matter how much exercise and healthy eating i do, the weight doesn't seem to come off!!! But it definitely does what it's meant to - my skin is clear!! :-)

Pros:

Clear skin. Normal Weight. Normal appetite. Normal mood (bf says its made me LESS moody... but what does he know ;-) )

Cons:

You cant take it for long periods as its very high in hormone levels.

All good so far - cleared my skin in MANY ways. I have acne as well as having keratosis pilaris and using dianette and a good moisturiser (and N O T using any acne cream at all or scrubbing or using toner etc) has given me PERFECT skin at the age of 30. But now doc wants me off it and on Yasmin (same as Yaz) due to its lower hormone levels making it safer to take. Am really worried it will cause havoc.... Really dont know what to do. Plus side is I think they are all really the same pill wise... Reading all these reviews has shown me that you cant really trust reviews as you get SO many conflicting ones.... My advice is try it (especially if you are in the UK where these skin saving c.o.c. pills are free!!!!)

Pros:

Cleared up my skin well. Breasts got (lots) bigger.

Cons:

Felt sick at times, threw up on the first day of taking it.

My six months on dianette are now up and I'm seriously considering just going back on it no matter the risks. My skin on my face, chest and back cleared up and as I was able to moisturise, the scars began to heal too. Everyone noticed the difference and I got a lot of positive comments even after the first few weeks.

Pros:

Really great for my skin, perfect condition, plump and non greasy. Thicker hair, less mood swings, less moody!

Cons:

Loss of sex drive for around 3 days prior to menstruation + scared of side effects

I had really bad skin on my face for 3 - 4 years during my teenage years. It really depressed me. I then found Dianette, and have been on and off it for around 5 years. I have experienced no side effects, in fact this pill is very suited to me in many ways. It has given me a better appetite without putting on weight, thicker shinier hair, and great skin. I came off Dianette a few months ago, and had to go back on as my hair was coming out and spots reappeared. The doctors were useless and could not recommend anything to help me, so I was forced to go back on Dianette. I would love to find an alternative even though I am 100% happy with this treatment, I am scared as I have been on it a very long time!

Pros:

Regulates menstrual cycle very well and lightens periods. Definate reduction in body/facial hair and spot free.

Cons:

Migraines! Have always suffered but dianette aggriavted symtoms-had to stop because of this. Also, serious sweet craving a week before period.

Never suffered with acne until i stoped taking it! Now have spots on face and chest. Already noticed increased facial hair after stoping for 2 weeks. Significantly less bloated and 85% improvement with migraine. I'm at a crossroads- bloated and hairy without dianette or migraine and spotty with it...arnt i lucky!! Ps- the inital mood swings when starting Dianette really do improve after 8 weeks if you can stick it out. If you dont suffer migraine i definately recommend Dianette.

Pros:

Does not taste bad, easy to take. Seems to be working on facial acne a bit.

Cons:

SERIOUS WEIGHT GAIN. Nausea. Terrified of effects once stopping taking it.

Have had acne for ages, sick of it have to spend two hours getting ready before I can be seen by family or go out in public. Severe self esteem issues caused by the acne, tried a tetracycline which was inneffective & on zinneryt still. Have only been using dianette for 2 weeks but have already put on considerable weight with no increased appetite, face clearing slightly. I'm not sure whether it's worth the acne being so much worse upon stopping taking it, terrified about stopping taking it after long term useage & considering ending it after the first month. Also gives the worst throat acid which makes you feel like your guts are leaking out your throat.

Pros:

Clear Skin

Cons:

Acne is back with a vengence! - fertility problems???

I was put on the Dianette pill mainly due to acne in my teens - my skin cleared up great and only had the occasinal spot - I stayed on the dianette pill for 14 years before I had a break and stopped to try and start a family. Within 6 months my acne was back 10 times worse than ever before, my skin was really greasy and so was my hair. I felt like teenager and my confidence has been knocked. I also have had fertility problems, suffering 3 miscarrages and had both fallopian tubes removed due to ectopic pregnancys so now I cannot have children naturally. Other people are questioning fertility problems after being on the pill for so long so I wonder if this is a coincidence?

Pros:

Worked for a while, regular periods

Cons:

STOPS WORKING AND WHEN YOU STOP TAKING IT SPOTS ARE WORSE THAN EVER BEFORE

Avoid dianette if you can, or take it forever! Roaccutane is the way to go. Was on dianette for 15 years, stopped taking 18 months ago as didn't need contraception and wasn't working for spots (or wouldn't have needed 3 courses of roaccutane over the years!) Loads of little pimples started to appear all over my chest that I never had before starting dianette. Those eventually stopped about a year later but spots on face are getting worse - huge, itchy, lumpy, shiny, red/purple bumps that last for weeks. Now trying benzamycin before heading back to dermatologist for roaccutane, which is the best stuff ever (no side effects except dry skin/lips - easily fixed with moisturiser and lip balm) but I'm obviously one of the unlucky few for whom roaccutane doesn't zap spots permanently.
