Pros:

I had been on Dianette for a couple of years, and is definately the best treatment for ance that I have fever found.

Cons:

I found that the side effects of mood swings, depression, weight gain and constant sickness feeling, unbearable and decided to come off it. I did go back to Dianette a couple of times, as my spots and oily hair were unmanageable, but the effect on your mood is not worth it.

I would not recommend this treatment, it did clear my skin but was not worth the side effects and damage to my health. My skin and moods have gone back to normal, but it has taken at least a year!

Pros:

Beautiful skin after six months or so. Thicker, shinier hair. Bigger boobs.

Cons:

Skin gets worse first. Some weight gain if I don't watch myself due to a major increase in appetite. Mood swings. Depression. Fluctuations in libido. Dry eyes (contact lense wearer)

For anyone worried about Dianette not working for them, remember that you have to stick at it!! Both times I've used it, it's taken between two and four months to see any significant difference. After that my skin has been amazing! The last time I used this for a longer amount of time, I decided to come off it because I was worried about its health risks. Huge mistake! My acne returned ten fold and after six months was out of control even though I was on Cileste, which is supposed to help. According to my doc (not the one who put me on cileste) the change from dianette to cileste is not a wise one. Wish someone had told me then! I've been back on Diantte for a fortnight now and although I've seen no change yet (it'll sometimes get worse too) I'm hopeful that sooner or later it's going to kick in.

Pros:

It seriously cleared up my skin! My skin has not been this good since I hit puberty years ago.
Also I found I don't need to wash hair as often.
Regular periods.

Cons:

None - no depression, weight gain or anything like that. The only con is that that I have to stop taking it now and already feel as though my acne is coming back - but I think what we need to remember is the docter tells you to come of it for a reason, there are serious health risks!

It works soo well but it's only a quick fix. It took months to start working and now after 6 months I have to come off it. So was it really worth it? I am tempted to go back to the docter and talk him into prescribing me some more but I know in however many months time I'll only be faced with the same problem again, so it isn't really worth it. You're better off looking for a long-term solution.

Pros:

clear skin (!) bigger boobs, lighter periods, less painful periods, contraceptive, ability to 'skip' a period

Cons:

only allowed for 18months then have to come off it for 18months 'rest'. For a few months after I came off it excessively oily skin/greasy hair and erratic periods and moodswings. But now back to 'normal'

i can't wait to get back onto Dianette. The time is was on it after it started working (it will take maybe 6months or so to clear completely but saw improvement before) were amazing. I even left the house to meet people make up free on several occaisions, such a good feeling

Pros:

Cleared up my acne like nothing else, I had the most beautiful skin - ever!!

Cons:

Bloating, strange emotional states, appetite increases - all of which lead to Bulimia for two whole years while I was on it :-( You WILL have to come off it eventually due to the high dose of hormones and chances are your acne will return to exactly the same state as it was before

I would exercise EXTREME caution to anybody considering using Dianette. In my opinion this is the demon pill which I consider the main causal factor in the development of an eating disorder (Bulimia) in my teens. Once I stopped Dianette I have been able to recover from my ED. The reason is that Dianette makes you feel bloated and fat even when you haven't eaten very much. Coupled with an increased appetite and a teenage girl who is likely to already be concerned about her image (i.e. her skin) and it is a likely recipe for Bulimia. So yes although Dianette does wonders at solving acne problems, it potentially creates more and more complex problems than resolving a couple of spots. If I could go back I would NEVER have used Dianette, despite how beautiful my skin was it simply wasn't worth it. If you think you won't have problems with eating or depression that's fine but just please, please be careful and bear in mind that it can only ever be temporary (max 2 years).

Pros:

Less oily skin, have had very few new pimples after only 2 week of using it, used to have atleast one new pimple a day. Already had light periods, now they are virtually non existent.

Cons:

Sickness. Tiredness. Stomach cramps. Not sure if it's related but have noticed my eyesight has become blurry last few days.

I have been using Dianette for 2 weeks now and have a noticable difference already. My skin is less oily, fewer spots and i am very much looking forward to what results i will have in 3-6 months time after suffering for 7years. The sickness and tiredness only lasted about a week and have been fine since. Stomach cramps has only happened twice but is very painfull and i'm hoping it goes away as quickly as the other symptoms. Alot of people have said it has affected their mood in a negative way. I personally have found the complete opposite, although i think this may be as i am so excited about finally having something which will give me a nice complexion. I already suffered from a lazy eye and i am not certain if the blurry eyes is related to the dianette in any way.

Pros:

Less oily skin, hair didn't grow back as fast after shaving.

Cons:

Extremely painful boobs, dizzy spells, sharp headaches when looking in the distance,

I still got acne while I was on this. When I stopped taking it, the acne came back worse than before and in new areas I had never had it before. I had bad headaches which I thought was normal but it's not!

Pros:

Clears up acne within weeks. Reduces body hair. In my case no side effects. No bloatedness, no weight gain, no mood swings. Increased confidence. Lighter periods.

Cons:

Regular breaks required due to reports of side effects (although I've had non of the side effects). When you stop taking it, acne comes back.

This pill literally changed my life. I suffer from acne on my face, chest and back which has a serious impact on my self confidence both at work and socially. Taking this pill has cleared my skin dramatically which in turn has increased my self confidence. I'm lucky that I've had none of the side effects described by others. I have a healthy active lifestyle and have regular check ups and it works for me.

Pros:

Bigger breast size-but this is only because of overall weight gain- you don't just gain on your breast believe me!!

Cons:

Really painful periods
Worse acne than before
Skin greasier than before
Awful mood swings and depression
Weight gain

When i was first given the Pill i searched the internet to find reviews. Every review i came across seemed to have the same message, great while you're on it, skins gets worse when you come off. I decided not to believe what people had written, thinking for some reason i would be different and that it would work miraculously for me. Well it didn't. Girls, in the UK doctors are desperate to get you on this as it goes towards the figures of 16+ girls on contraceptives to meet their targets. Going on the pill was THE WORST decision i have ever made and i would just advise you to please please reconsider before you take it. Not ony that but the doctor said to me it doesn't actually sort out acne, just balances out the hormone imbalance in your body in the hope that when you stop taking the pill your hormones will have sorted themselves out and your acne will have gone. And you can only take it for 6 months anyway in the UK. If you're reading this then you probably were as desperate as i was yo get rid of acne, and i honestly never thought i would say this BUT i would rather have acne then go near that pill again. Think through other options first.
