Pros:

Clears up acne within weeks. Reduces body hair. In my case no side effects. No bloatedness, no weight gain, no mood swings. Increased confidence. Lighter periods.

Cons:

Regular breaks required due to reports of side effects (although I've had non of the side effects). When you stop taking it, acne comes back.

This pill literally changed my life. I suffer from acne on my face, chest and back which has a serious impact on my self confidence both at work and socially. Taking this pill has cleared my skin dramatically which in turn has increased my self confidence. I'm lucky that I've had none of the side effects described by others. I have a healthy active lifestyle and have regular check ups and it works for me.

Pros:

Bigger breasts
Free on NHS

Cons:

Didn't improve acne, possibly made it worse
Huge increase in appetite resulted in weight gain
Mood swings

Hello, I used this for 6 months for acne, with no improvement, I feel it made acne worse. The reason decided to put this review up is that it seemed to improve everyone's acne, so it must be a good treatment for most people, but incase there's someone in my situation as confused as I am, it is possible that dianette can make your acne worse, even though it works for the majority

Pros:

Cleared up my acne almost completely
Regulated my periods

Cons:

Didn't do anything else to my periods aside from regulating them, still very heavy (possibly heavier than when I didn't take it) and did not reduce my pain (which can be fairly severe) at all.
Made me feel very low/emotional some days

I would recommend this pill to anyone who is looking for an acne treatment and also needs to regulate their periods, however if, like me, you were also looking for something to reduce pain etc, then maybe Yasmin (which I have just changed to after taking diannette for 6 months) would be a better option. I had virtually no side effects aside from nausea the first week or so of taking it. It took 5 days after taking my last pill in the packet before I came on, but I've heard this is not unusual.

Pros:

Cleared up skin completely
Bigger breasts
Less painful periods at first
Free on the NHS
More confidence from clearer skin

Cons:

Severe PMS (severe iritability and anxiety)
Extremely painful periods after a few months
Dry skin
Slight weight gain

I have had side effects but at the end of the day my skin is clear. Now I have no spots on my face and back. I've had acne for years and I'm just happy that it's finally gone. The main thing for me is that I feel that anyone with a mental health problem (e.g depression, generalised anxiety disorder) or has had a mental health problem should think twice about using this tablet as it severly affects your moods.

Pros:

Some people claim it works for them as a short-term solution.

Cons:

Mood swings like mad.
Going off of it increases androgen production, which pretty much equals a whole lotta angry red pimples.
Loss/gain of appetite depending on the person

This drug comes in generic (ex. Cyestra-35) and name brand (Diane-35) forms. Reviews favour the name brand in terms of maintaining decent/good moods, breast tenderness, etc. It may work well for you at first, but going off of it is pretty much hell.

Pros:

-It can allow you to experience good moods more often than not.
-May reduce hormonal acne (not clear it up)

Cons:

-It may very well plummet your mood.
-May not have any effect on your hormonal acne at some points during treatment.
-Weight gain/loss
-Extreme loss of appetite and serious weight loss paired with horrible 8 month long bad flare-up period after coming off of it.
-Possible development of spider veins/visible veins on legs

This stuff is a short term solution that may leave you with worse break outs than you started out with. There are better methods, but everyone is different, so talk to your derm about it.

Pros:

cleared skin very significantly (however not completely)
helped regulate periods
bigger boobs
free on the NHS

Cons:

considerable weight gain (i went up a dress size in 6 weeks!)
mood swings/made me quite emotional
acne returned as soon as i stopped taking it

i went on this in combination with trimethoprim last year when i was 16 (after trying countless topical treatments/antibiotics etc) and within 6 weeks my skin was far clearer with mostly just red marks left from previous breakouts and far fewer new spots. however it made me gain a lot of weight (something i wasn't used to as a somewhat underdeveloped teenage girl and came as a shock) and people around me realised it had really affected my mood so i stopped taking it after about 4 months. soon after my acne started reappearing and recently it is worse than ever so i think the next step is trying a course of roaccutane. overall it did make a big difference and its worth a try but the side effects were quite substantial and for me it wasn't a long-term solution.

Pros:

Clear skin after about 4-5 months.
Gives you confidence

Cons:

Pain in lower legs believed to be DVT, so had to come off immediately.

I have suffered from acne since I was 14, so for 12 years now. It shaped me as a person, and although I didn't let anyone know, it made me feel so self conscious, and if it was really bad, I wouldn't go out. After trying a few things the doctor put me on Dianette, as I had been on it before and knew it worked. I took the drug for a little over a year, and the results were fantastic. I felt relaxed, and cheerful when I woke up, rather than anxiously feeling my skin for new spots. I knew I couldn't stay on long term though, and eventually the docs would take me off. This really scared me, cos when I came off Di before i'm afraid that my acne got much worse. Three weeks ago, cramps started waking me up, and my legs would seize up. I knew that DVT is a serious side affect, so stopped taking the pill immediately. I expressed my anxiety that my acne would come back, and my doctor was really kind. She pointed out that when I came off Dianette last time, I had not taken anything else. This time I have been given the pill Yasmin, and a gel called Duac. I was very sceptical, believing nothing would work like Dianette. BUT touch wood some weeks on, and I haven't had any problems. If anything the Duac is really amazing, and has made my skin even better than when on Di. Also you can take both of these drugs for the foreseeable future. Also neither of the drugs have the potential to damage foetus', so when the day comes for some of us ladies, that is not something to worry about (lots of the acne drugs can be dangerous to unborn babies). I used to read this discussion board when I was on Di, and got so scared as many posts said how acne comes back, sometimes worse when you come off. So don't worry, make sure your doc works with you to find better long term options.

Pros:

cleared skin

Cons:

weight gain
huge, sore breasts
uncomfortable pain in joints

I started taking this pill in school and it worked wonders for me almost instantly. Over the year I was on it though, whilst I gained confidence in the way my skin looked, I hit rock bottom with my body. I went up 2 or 3 dress sizes and didn't lose it for a good 2-3 years afterwards. I also found if I leant on one leg, then it would become really sore all of a sudden. This pain evaporated as soon as I came off Dianette. If you don't mind weight gain, go for it because it completely cleared my skin. Although, I found it cured one problem, but it just created another.

Pros:

breasts got bigger, skin cleared up alot on face, chest and back, periods lasted less and were less painful and heavy.

Cons:

weight gain, some mood swings at the start nothing major.

the only thing i dont like about dianette is the weight gain. my appetite has increased alot but hopefully now ive noticed i can work it off. also at first i noticed i was having alot of mood swings but nothing major like depression or anything. as for my acne my face cleared up well after the first month and is improving. my chest had one bad breakout at first but made a massive recovery and now is amazing. back was probably the worst so is taking a little more time to get better but im optimistic about it. i would recommend this pill.
