Pros:

light and painless period
bigger boob

Cons:

made skin worse
huge increase in appetite, therefore weight gain and loss of confidence

Ive only been on it for a month and a half but I'm coming off this pill as soon as i have finished the month, it has made my skin worse than before and has increased my appetite resulting in weight gain which has created another problem which I have never had. May work for some, but not for me!

Pros:

Works well whilst you are on it,

Cons:

Skin is the worst it has ever been now I have stopped taking it
Slight weight gain

I have never posted on here before but I felt the need to warn people what can happen when you stop taking this. I had been using Dianette for 6 years for my skin (I did also try Yasmin for a year in the middle but it didnt work as well). I stopped taking it about 5 months ago as I no longer required birth control. Whilst I was using it my acne was improved and my skin was much less oily but since stopping it I have had severe outbreaks all over my face and mainly on my chin. My skin in really oily and I get about 6 news spots a day. Nothing that I have tried so far (including antibiotics) has worked at clearing it up, it is getting far worse all the time. Having looked on the internet and talked to a friend who also recently stooped I can see this is a very common problem. I wish my doctor had warned me about this before I started using it. And the thing with it is that you will have to stop using it eventually as due to the high hormones and risk involved doctors dont like to prescripe it for too long.

Pros:

Acne cleared, lighter periods, less painfull periods

Cons:

none

I've been using dianette on and off for 10 years. As a teenager i suffered from severe acne and tryed most thing out there that i could buy over the counter and could get off the doctor. After i had my eldest child now 10 i went to the doctor for my 6 week check up, while there the doctor noticed the acne on my back and adivsed me to go onto dianette instead of the pill i had been on. I noticed my acne clearing up within a few months of being on it. over the next 5 year i did put on weight about 1 stone but i also wasn't watching what i ate, when i did start to diet still taking dianette i lost 2 stone. I then came off it while i had another child. By now i had changed doctor and this doctor advised me to go on a different pill which i did and took it for about 2 years. I wasn't happy my acne came back so i asked my doctor to put me back on dianette which he has ive been on it for 2 months now and my acne is clearing up again plus i am watching what i eat again and have lost 4lb with week and my confidence is going again.

Pros:

Clears up acne
Reduces oily skin
Reduces blocked pores and blackheads
Contraceptive

Cons:

Contraceptive (Pro and con)
No cons while taking dianette, however after coming off it, I have been having the worst time of my life!

I took dianette for 13 years. Whilst taking it, I thought it was amazing! I never had to worry about acne, I didn't have any, it cleared it up within weeks. Although I was on it for a long time, my doctor told me it was safe, so I continued taking it, as it worked so well. I decided to come off it to give my body a break. Within a couple of weeks, I noticed my skin and hair became extremely oily! My skin would be oily within a couple of hours of cleansing, and same for my hair after shampooing. I started getting some blackheads but nothing major for the first 4 to 5 months. Then after approximately 4 to 5 months my acne started to come back with avengance! In addition to the extreme oiliness, I have moderately severe acne all over my face. I also have gotten really hairy with increased facial hair around the moustache, chin and cheek areas, and also body hair particularly around my nipples. It took 13 months before I started to get periods again after coming off it. I have been tested for PCOS and all came back clear. I am at my wits end. I have tried other things like Zineryt, Duac, Tetralysal, Skinoren since coming off Dianette but nothing has worked. My advice is not to go on it in the first place. While everything might seem ok whilst your taking it, when you come off it, your acne will come back worse than before.

Pros:

Clears up acne within weeks. Reduces body hair. In my case no side effects. No bloatedness, no weight gain, no mood swings. Increased confidence. Lighter periods.

Cons:

Regular breaks required due to reports of side effects (although I've had non of the side effects). When you stop taking it, acne comes back.

This pill literally changed my life. I suffer from acne on my face, chest and back which has a serious impact on my self confidence both at work and socially. Taking this pill has cleared my skin dramatically which in turn has increased my self confidence. I'm lucky that I've had none of the side effects described by others. I have a healthy active lifestyle and have regular check ups and it works for me.

Pros:

Bigger breasts
Free on NHS

Cons:

Didn't improve acne, possibly made it worse
Huge increase in appetite resulted in weight gain
Mood swings

Hello, I used this for 6 months for acne, with no improvement, I feel it made acne worse. The reason decided to put this review up is that it seemed to improve everyone's acne, so it must be a good treatment for most people, but incase there's someone in my situation as confused as I am, it is possible that dianette can make your acne worse, even though it works for the majority

Pros:

Cleared up my acne almost completely
Regulated my periods

Cons:

Didn't do anything else to my periods aside from regulating them, still very heavy (possibly heavier than when I didn't take it) and did not reduce my pain (which can be fairly severe) at all.
Made me feel very low/emotional some days

I would recommend this pill to anyone who is looking for an acne treatment and also needs to regulate their periods, however if, like me, you were also looking for something to reduce pain etc, then maybe Yasmin (which I have just changed to after taking diannette for 6 months) would be a better option. I had virtually no side effects aside from nausea the first week or so of taking it. It took 5 days after taking my last pill in the packet before I came on, but I've heard this is not unusual.

Pros:

- Stopped getting new spots (it's mostly pre-existing acne thats healing)
- It is also a contraceptive.
- Regulates periods
- Painless periods

Cons:

- Felt nauseous an hour or so after taking it for the first few days.
- I've had about 4days where I felt very depressed and emotional.
-

I've been on this pill for 3 weeks now so I have just started my 7 pill free days and so far so good.. I expected to have mood swings and indeed I do. I've had about 4days in the past 3 weeks where I've just been really depressed, crying and low self esteem. I did have depression about 2 years ago but never sought medical advice for it.. maybe that's a contributing factor to depression from the pill. I would strongly recommend notifying your doctor if you have a previous history of depression! However, I found the side affects worth it! My skin has cleared about a good bit. I'm not really getting spots anymore, it's just others that need healing. I would recommend this to anyone.

Pros:

Cleared up skin completely
Bigger breasts
Less painful periods at first
Free on the NHS
More confidence from clearer skin

Cons:

Severe PMS (severe iritability and anxiety)
Extremely painful periods after a few months
Dry skin
Slight weight gain

I have had side effects but at the end of the day my skin is clear. Now I have no spots on my face and back. I've had acne for years and I'm just happy that it's finally gone. The main thing for me is that I feel that anyone with a mental health problem (e.g depression, generalised anxiety disorder) or has had a mental health problem should think twice about using this tablet as it severly affects your moods.

Pros:

Some people claim it works for them as a short-term solution.

Cons:

Mood swings like mad.
Going off of it increases androgen production, which pretty much equals a whole lotta angry red pimples.
Loss/gain of appetite depending on the person

This drug comes in generic (ex. Cyestra-35) and name brand (Diane-35) forms. Reviews favour the name brand in terms of maintaining decent/good moods, breast tenderness, etc. It may work well for you at first, but going off of it is pretty much hell.
