Pros:

Beautiful, clear skin, lighter periods and never got period pains whereas i normally am in agony!

Cons:

May make you put on weight (my friend got kinda moody from it but she didnt gain any weight!)

I was on this pill for about a year and it was amazing my skin was flawless..perfect but i did put on about a stone NOT GOOD! When i came off it i lost the weight agen quickly and my skin stayed clear for about 6-12 months after but now its creeping back..not as bad as it used 2 be though (im 18 now) but i want my clear skin back again! Going to try some oral antibiotics as topical solutions dry out skin too much and arnt that effective!

Pros:

Decrease in facial hair, clearing up of body acne

Cons:

Hasn't cleared up face acne after 10 months

I have taken this for 10 months. During the fist 6 my acne was far worse than ever, after that it just returned to the moderate ance is was before and remains at that. i.e. it hasn't worked. That was for my face. What is strange, though, is that the acne on my back and chest cleared up almost straight away. I have also increased 2 bra sizes on Dianette. I am going to stop it now because It has made me very depressed, so that I am finding it hard to work.

Varicose Veins
I'd never recommend this pill to anyone. I have PCOS and took the pill for 5 years. I went from moderate acne to perfect clear skin in two months. In the beginning everything was fine, then 2 years later I felt so depressed I couldn't get out of bed. Also I noticed varicose veins in my legs and other side effects like mood swings, anxiety and grumpiness. Remember: once you quit the pill your acne will come back worse.

If the depression and other symptoms started 2 years later I think it is unlikely to be related to dianette.I agree that unless you keep taking it or you naturally grow out of acne the acne will come back. You need to stay on it to be symptom free until you grow out of acne.

Dear Juwalker, I'm certain this pill made my symptoms worse. It's poison. I'd recommend girls to treat hormonal acne naturally with plant derived anti-androgens and exercise. The changes are fantastic.

Worked for me but bad side effects
My skin got clear and looked amazing while I was on Dianette. However, I got depressed, had palpitations and prickly feelings all over my body as side effects. My main point in wanting clear skin is to look good and feel good. I got my clear skin but felt awful, so my rating is going to be 3.

Does not work.
I was experiencing some cystic acne on my face so I saw a private dermatologist and doctor who recommended Co-Cyrindiol. I was warned about the side effects but that they only affect a small handful of people and that I shouldn't really worry. I was assured that my skin would definitely clear up. Anyway, month 1... No side effects..Acne stayed the same... Month 2... No side effects... Acne stayed the same... Month 3... No side effects... Month 4 (the month I've just completed)- acne has just flared up again.. I'm feeling depressed. No other side effects apart from that. I spoke to the dermatologist who has now advised that the reason why my acne is not clearing up is because I need to go to her clinic and spend £ £ £ and have regular facial peels and purchase her special serums and moisturisers. She also said that I don't eat healthy and I wear makeup. I smell bullsh*t. Since the dermatologist recommended the Co-cyprindiol and my GP actually prescribed it, i will go back to my GP and ask her for further advice. I'm going to continue to take it for another 2 months but I'm very very doubtful it is clearing my acne.

JUST A LITTLE PATIENCE
I was out of pills Dec2014 and come Feb2015, I started to have acnes. I have never had any acne problems before.. I've always had that 'porcelain' skin every girl dreams of so having them makes me feel so down and depressed because I don't know how to deal with it. After 2 weeks, they're all over my face and ofcourse I started freakin out. So I bought Dianette and guess what! MARCH and APRIL were the worst monthe ever. Everyday I wake up with 2-3 NEW CYSTIC acnes on my cheeks and forehead! I felt so depressed and started reading reviews here. And everyone said just be patient cause it takes 3-4 months before it does its magic and YES! On my 3rd pack, acne stopped showing on my face! I'm now back to having the smooth skin I've always had though I still have those nasty marks (ANYONE RECOMMENDS A GOOD ACNE SCAR REMOVAL REMEDY OR PRODUCT?) it's already been 2 weeks and I havent had any single acne on my skin! Yeehhhheeey! So girls, JUST BE PATIENT. It does wonders. ;)

NO!!!
honestly I can not explain how much I would recommend people NOT to go on this drug.. I'm not somebody who usually reads reviews or gets swayed by the reviews people write but honestly I wish I would have listened.. Dianette may have been the WORST drug anybody has ever put me on. It first started when I went to the doctors because my skin was getting more flair ups than usual and it was quite distressing as I had tried antibiotics and also topical treatments.. after the first week of it I felt quite radgy and adgitated and usually I am a happy cheerful person but I just took a horrible turn and became extremely moody anxious and feeling depressed.. and the worst thing was my skin was getting worse and worse and I have never had as bad skin problems.. it was worse than ever before and the reason I went on it was to sort my skin out! after 4 months my skin was almost cystic, I was depressed because of my skin and the hormone effect the drug had taken and to make it even worse I had gained 1 stone. WORST! I would not recommend at all, your body is precious and you should not change your hormones especially if youre a teen dealing with puberty! obviously everybody is different but I wanted to share my story of this because I regret taking this tablet so much!

Works but not a permanent fix
I was prescribed this from my GP at 17 yrs old after many failed topical treatments. I actually took this for about a year on and off (which is terrible I know) . Ill outline the pros and cons instead of writing an essay because Id rather just get to the point. Pros: -Cleared my acne to an extent, this includes bacne/neck/chest (I still got the odd spot here and there while on this) - It will work if your acne is hormonal -No initial breakout (for me at least) -Bigger boobs (embarrassing because I already was quite big but my boyfriend at the time was happy;) lol) Now on to the cons: -You cannot take this in the long run so it does give you false hope. Yeah its great while you're on it. You'll have beautiful skin and be ready to conquer the world but the second you come off this your skin will possibly break out again. It wont be as severe as the acne you had before but yeah you'll still break out. (This happened to me, it may not be the same for you) -Weight gain. I gained approx. two stone from taking this. For some reason this made me crave terrible food thus adding the pounds. :( -Random black hairs popped up in strange places while taking this -Pains in the lower leg region and bruising -God awful anxiety (not being able to leave the house) -High blood pressure -Terrible migraines -Paranoia (I was convinced I had a brain tumor -extreme I know) -Made me moody/emotional (I once cried when my sister sat on some oreos I had on a plate...physically sobbed so .. yeah:D) Now I'm not going to totally bash Dianette/Diane because it does work wonders in the short term. I felt great while I was on this, so confident. Unfortunately the side effects I was having scared me to death..Would I consider ever trying it again?-NO. But I would recommend it. Everybody is different, just because I had those side effects doesn't mean you will. I also had a terrible doctor (I've changed doctors since) who didn't monitor me properly and I think just gave me this to shut me up. Also I cringe every time I think of me being 16/17 and being on a drug this powerful. It makes you think of all the toxic crap we put in our system to eradicate this disease. So give it a bash if you want but just be careful, read the side effects and monitor yourself on it, if you get adverse reactions speak to your doctor and come off it. Good luck:)

Effective in the short term.
I was prescribed this for 6 months at first and my acne disappeared in the second month and did not return until I came off the pill. My acne returned as bad as before in 2 months despite being prescribed microgynon. I was then advised to go back on dianette for 5 months and did so as I was desperate to get rid of my acne again. It went away in the second month but came back after I finished the 5 month course. I am now looking at going on accutane and have been prescribed yasmin. Ultimately, this pill is highly effective at getting rid of acne in the short term but is not by any means a long term solution :( My heart goes out to anyone suffering with acne, I know how hard it is! Good luck and I really hope you find something that works for you! I would recommend this if you are SICK of having acne and want to just have a break from it for a while. Maybe your doctor can prescribe a follow-on pill that would be effective at balancing out your hormones? xxxxx

What happened when you went on Yasmin - was this better at treating your acne than Dianette? Thank you in advance xxx

Pros:

After nine months of use I did see an improvement. My spots were smaller and less red, and i went from always having several spots on my chin/cheekbones/forehead to having one or two on my entire face. I no longer had forehead blemishes, and when I was strict on my skin care it did look pretty darn good.

Cons:

I hated how some days for no apparent reason I would feel very upset and/or depressed. Sometimes before school my family would just have to say one word and then I would start to cry hysterically. It was getting very embarrassing, and I hated that I wasn't as enthusiastic anymore. I hated putting a downer on everyone around me just because I felt sad. This also doesn't fade scarring. And I gained about 10 pounds.

If you're prepared to persevere for several months, you will get results from Dianette. It does work, but for me I just got to the point where I simply had had enough of feeling emotional all the time.
