Pros:

it worked -- my skin looks better than it has in years, and it's very cheap if you can get the promotional card. few side effects, especially considering the payoff.

Cons:

it makes me feel a bit tired, which adds up because another med i'm taking (for something completely unrelated) also makes me tired! it's very pricey if you don't get the promotional card deal.

a bit of history: i've been in and out of derms' offices for acne since i was 12, and i'm 33 now. i went through a course of accutaine when it was at its worst when i was in my early 20s, and though it wasn't a 100% fix, it greatly helped my facial complexion and eliminated any back/chest acne issues i had. still, my face can break out pretty bad from time to time, and until recently i was using retin-a micro to keep things in check. i began developing dermatitis because of irritation caused by the retin-a (most likely because i'm a bit older now and my skin is drier than it used to be, though still acne-prone), so my derm offered this as an option. i've tried various acne antibiotics before, and this is the only one that has had such dramatic results -- within about a week i could already tell a difference, and at about a month into the course i was clear. i've just started the third and final month, so i cannot say whether the results will be lasting at this point.

Pros:

Best product I've used. Has completely cleared up my acne up within 3 weeks! i used clinique's acne soap before i applied at night time.

Cons:

Not many side effects. Made my face a little red the first few uses but no extreme dryness or burning. Kind of costy depending on your insurance but my dermatologist gave me a rebate so it ended up costing $20.

I've suffered from acne most of my life. I sweat a lot and produce a lot of oil to be honest and this is the only product I've used (and I've tried them all I don't even want to think about all the money I've spent on useless products) that has been able to clear my skin up!

Pros:

I really had zero side effects.

Cons:

It may be pretty expensive for some people . Regularly it is $500 but my insurance covered most of it so it was only $11.

I got rid of all my acne except for a ocassional pimple. And it really did help to reduce the oil production in my skin.

Pros:

Really helped clear up my skin in just a few days. No noticed side effects. Worked really fast.

Cons:

I already burn so easily and this medicine makes you sensitive to light so fair skinned red heads be careful!

I would try it for sure. My derm wants to put me on accutane if this doesnt work and i reallllly dont want to take that so im hoping this clears up everything. Make sure you ask for a rebate card and good luck!! :]

Pros:

Clears your face rather quickly-great results. I have cystic acne and use in conjuction with tazorac gel.

Cons:

You nust use a good sunscreen...Now that it is summer my skin is starting to burn when I am in the car and outside with the kids. You can't avoid sun these days. For me a is a good fall/winter med

Works really well for severe acne. Try it out. Make sure you get a discout card from the Dermatologist because it is pricey!

Pros:

Worked for me great. I saw results in 2-3 days. I'm using it with peroxide cream in the shower once a day and bam! No more pimps. Well a few here and there, but I wrestle and play football.

Cons:

No side effects at all. Take pill at night RIGHT before you go to bed and without any calcium so it doesn't defect the pill. Other than that, works like a champ.

Solodyn helps some people and hurts some people and doesn't do anything for some people. Ask your derm for it. If it's for you, your in luck, if not then of course your going to have to go to a higher dosage or another potent acne destroyer.

Pros:

Nodular acne - treatment is 90mg Solodyn per day, along with Epiduo gel once a day. I noticed my skin clearing up in 2 days! Taking it consistently has kept me acne free for over 3 months. My doctor wants to see me back in 3 more months.

Cons:

In the beginning, I noticed headaches, slight chest pain and shortness of breath, but only lasted a few weeks. Have noticed some redness on my face, and some really dry patches, but much easier to look at than nodular acne! Costly without good ins!

Get a card from your derm! It guaranteed I wouldn't pay more than $25 out of pocket. After my insurance, my cost would have been $300 a month, but when the pharmacist ran my Solodyn card, I paid $25 the first couple of months, then $10 the last 2 times. I do believe the Epiduo was a great product to use also! My derm said that it would also help repair my skin over time, and my skin looks fresh and clean after just a few months. I believe the Epiduo caused the redness and dryness on my face. My husband has a couple of breakouts and tested out my gel, and ended up with a really red dry patch on his face, and he complained that his face felt like it was on fire. For me, these issues came and went, but WAY easier to deal with than nodular acne! I totally recommend trying this stuff out!!

Pros:

Cleared my skin w/in 3-4 months, however if you miss a pill or two you will see reverse action & it will take an increased amount of time in order return. I also used this medication w/ medicated face wash and differin gel as well as other topicals.

Cons:

Missed pills are shown greatly in breakouts within a week or two after. I do not believe the pills would have been as successfulf had I not been prescribed the other medicated topicals.

The drug does work on moderate to severe acne but you must most importantly be consistent. Also, if you are taking birth control while on this drug, it is VITAL you take them at opposite times of the day otherwise your birth control is of no value. I have heard many stories of acne returning after completion hence why I have been on Solodyn for a year now. It is evident to me when I miss a day that there are severe consequences. My face has never fully returned to the way it was before the medicine however it has been truly bad on a couple of occasions. Also, no side effects for myself on the good side.
