Pros:

CLEARED SKIN IN TWO WEEKS

Cons:

NO REAL SIDE EFFECTS,JUST SLIGHTLY DRYING

After going through a very traumatic time I had developed about a dozen large painful cysts. My doctor said this is am eruption and he feels I would benefit with use of this medication. He was right. My skin is not breaking out and the scars have almost completely cleared.

Pros:

Everything about it!

Cons:

None

I was prescribed Solodyn for my hormonal chin/jaw-line acne. I was taking birth control pills for about 8 years and when i decided to stop, i started to break out in this hormonal acne on my chin and jaw area. My dermatologist told me about Solodyn, but right away i was concerned with a few things. One being, will i get sick with it or get these horrible migranes. I read a lot of reviews from other people and i really was scared to take it after hearing about what people said happened to them. Second, i was worried that the pills would make me break out worse before it got better and also, dry my skin out. What everyone must know is, everyone is different and you must try Solodyn before you decide not to use it. I was prescribed the 65mg by my doctor according to my weight (130lbs). I have had ZERO side effects AND, my acne is clearing up drastically. I was also given a Solodyn patient access card which is good for 3 months. This pill is very expensive so i hope you can get this card. I was able to get my first month FREE and the remaining 2 months for $10. My pharacist told me that my primary insurance did not cover the pill so this card really helped because if i didnt have this card, i would have to pay $750 per month! All in all, try it out for yourself and don't go by what others say. Everyone has a different body and everyone has different skin.

Pros:

My chest, back and neck acne is 98% GONE!! Yay! They gave me a discount card to use, so my first prescription was FREE instead of $40. The next two are only $10 and after that, you can simply call back and request another card for the same promotion, over and over again!

Cons:

None to mention yet. Only been on it for a month...

I have had acne since age 11 and I am now 30. Nothing has worked for me except Accutane, which gave me suicidal thoughts and dried out my skin/lips/scalp horribly bad. Sadly, my 100% clear body/face was short-lived after my Accutane wore off and it's too dangerous in my opinion, to try it again. Bare Mineral makeup by Bare Escentuals completely cleared up my facial acne within a couple weeks, I have been using that for 3 months. But...my body acne was still there, on my neck, chest and back. Body acne SUCKS. So, I went to a dermatologist and he put me on Solodyn. It's been one month and I can now wear v-neck shirts. My small pus-filled pimples are 98% gone and I couldn't be happier. After reading the reviews, I do worry it will stop working after a few months, but so far, it's been GREAT at clearing up my body acne. I will have to keep a close eye on it after a few months to see if I am one of the people it will stop working on. I love this site, such good information being shared is a wonderful thing. Pros:

Cleared up my skin perfectly. I havent had a breakout in about 5 months since I started taking this medication.

Cons:

It took almost 3 months to actually work for me. At first my skin was so dry with a rash around my nose and under my eyes from the dryness.

This medicine works really well at clearing up your skin, but it may take a while to work.

Pros:

Clears up face effectively! (Remember, acne can have many different factors, so it is not guaranteed that it will work for everyone I had been on many different medications before this that didn't work or worked and then stopped)

Cons:

If I go off of it, I break out within a week, and I have very severe acne so without this medication, my face is in pain and I look horrendous! I don't like being on medication especially for long periods.

When I do go off of it, I must maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly, drink a lot of water and make sure my sheets and pillows are fresh almost everyday (very important). This however, is very difficult for me since I am a full time student and I work full time so getting the time for exercise is hard and sometimes I don't have to time to eat at home and I'm at school till the night time and the only thing open are fast food restaurants which screw everything up.

Pros:

Effectively eliminated moderately severe acne

Cons:

Could be expensive if insurance does not cover, but doctor gave me some kind of discount card, had some small side effects in beginning that are gone now, don't want to use it forever

I'm a 31 year old 115 pound Asian girl. I started getting acne in my mid 20s, and was getting pimples all the time. I would try everything I could think of (washing regularly with different types of cleansers/systems, regularly changing pillows, eating better, drinking more water, etc.) Nothing worked. Finally, my friend suggested I go to the dermatologist. Duh! The doctor prescribed Solodyn (90 mg), Clenia face wash and Ziana. I stopped using Ziana within a few weeks (two harsh and I felt unnecessary). The solodyn started working right away. Within a week the number of pimples dropped, and by the third week, I didn't get any new ones. The side effect I got was constipation oddly, and I am very regular. I asked my doctor to give me 45 mg instead, and after that, the problem kind of went away. I don't want to take this forever, but I am so thankful that I don't have to deal with my weekly pimples. I'm hoping I can eventually just rely on the Clenia face wash, which works well.

Pros:

My daughter's face all cleared up after about one month of taking
Solodyn 90 mg extended tab.

Cons:

She had minor stomach pains that felt more like gas sometimes. We did not realize until this week the pain was so severe we determined it had to be caused by this medication

The medication definitely worked for our daughter. It did not take long to work - only about one month to one and a half months. Her faced looked good, all cleared. I would recommend that you try the lowest dose, for example - 45 mg extended release. Ask the doctor if it is ok to take every other day rather than every day. Definitely do not take more than three months. It is antibiotic. If you take longer than suggested length of time, even if you feel ok now, you will suffer later on in life.

Pros:

CLEARED UP MY ENTIRE FACE WITHIN JUST TWO WEEKS!!!

Cons:

YOU MUST EAT BEFORE TAKING THIS MED. MADE ME A BIT TIRED.

I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH LIGHT ACNE ALL OVER MY FACE & CYSTIC ACNE ON MY CHIN ALL MY LIFE. HOWEVER, THE DOCTOR PRESCRIBED SOLODYN BECAUSE I WAS ALSO DIAGNOSED WITH PERIORAL DERMATITIS. AND JUST LIKE THAT POOF ALL GONE IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS. NOW THAT I AM IN MY 30'S I WISH I KNEW ABOUT THIS PRODUCT WHEN I WAS IN MY 20'S!!!

Pros:

cleared up my acne

Cons:

takes a while to clear up; still left with acne scars

Solodyn worked for me. I didn't get any side effects whatsoever. I was on the 90mg pill per day. My acne at first was spread out over my chin and cheeks, and I had many small blackheads and whiteheads that felt like bumps and were red. When I first used it for the first few weeks my acne didn't get better; in fact it flared up. However, my derm explained that Solodyn pushed out the bacteria and sebum from the skin, so I'd look like pizza face for a while. A month and a half later, 99% of my acne is gone. I have not had new acne for at least two weeks, and my skin has been pretty clear for at least a week. However, I am still left with acne scars that look like small red marks and a few scabs from some acne. In time the scabs will heal and the scars will fade- but I won't have acne anymore.
