Pros:

Cleaared about 70 percent of my cystic acne.

Cons:

Gastrointestinal distress. For the first time in many years, there is a delay in my menstral period. Dont know if it is assoicated with the oral med. Ihave been on it for 3 weeks.

I am 40 and have suffered with Adult Acne, but dont know if I can stay long on this med. My stomach hurts all the time

like any other antibiotic...
This was one of the antibiotics that the dermatologist gave me. This was a long time ago , about 25 ? , years ago . I kind of had to figure it out how to use it ,I had to take it either 2 hours before a meal or 2 hours after , never ever with a meal , or I would end up with a horrible stomach ache, with really bad cramps ,. Believe me, the worst thing , one day I had my sister who came to visit from mexico and I don't know if you know how easy it is for people who were born in Mexico, but she got sick and asked me if I had some antibiotics and I said yes,I have some left overs that I had used for my acne , then I just gave her some erythromycin, oh my gosh I forgot to tell her about when to take it , so she got pretty sick , good thing she managed and didn't go to the hospital. Well erythromycin is not a miracle I mean like any other antibiotic, I think that after taking it for a while ,I mean I used to take it like for 3to 6 month periods, so the bacteria got kind of resistance to it. Erythromycin did not control my acne by itself ,I had to use topical acne treatments with it . I think it kind of work at the beginning, then after the bacteria got used to it , it didn't . So , like any other antibiotic , topical treatment has to go with it . The consequences of forgetting the right time to take it are really bad ,I wouldn't recommend using this.

So far pretty good
My acne has improved amazingly, 4 months ago my cheeks, forehead and chin were red and covered in spots where as now my chin and forehead are practically clear and a few spots and redness remains beside my nose. I have been prescribed to take this for a year so hopefully by then my skin will be completely clear.

Pros:

clears most of them

fast

one in the morning one in the night

they do work!

Cons:

doesn't get rid of them 100%

They did the job accept the fact it doesn't get rid of it completely just the majority Ive been on and off them for nearly four years and it only clears them up a lot not totally away though.

Pros:

-Very effective
-Short 'time to work' period
-Reduces not only leasions but inflamation

Cons:

-Should be taken with food (I assume this is to reduce bioavailability)
-Hard on digestive system
-Not really possible (nor likely advisable) to exercise while on this drug

Worked. Plain and simple. I only plan to use it for another week. I had been given a 4 week course, thankfully I will not need it. I used it in conjunction with adapalene 0.3% (brand name: differin) -- which made the results even better. Adapalene works well generally, but when a bad acne outbreak occurs, it can find its self out of its depth, which is where Erythromycin pills gave a helping hand. Just be clear: it's a 5/5 in effectiveness, but that rating is reduced in 4/5 when the -harsh- side effects are taken into account.

Pros:

clears acne completely, but you have to be patient (12 weeks, some might need more)
makes big pimples small in a few days

Cons:

really dries the skin for the first few applications
which also brings redness

I ´m 25 years old male and I have never experienced any acne, except for pimple or two when in puberty. Then suddenly at age of 25 I had most of my left face and forehead covered in acne. I was trying to control it by OTC products, but every one of them was completely useless, so finally I went to see a derm. The doctor prescribed me Zineryt, which is topical antibiotic using Erythromycin. I applied it twice a day after washing my face. For a first few weeks, it seemed to just make big ones smaller. It was better but I was expecting more. I kept using it and voila, acne started to clear up in about 7th week and in 12 weeks the acne is gone.

Pros:

helped reduce acne

Cons:

May dry skin a little but if you use a moisturizer over it you will be okay.

I have tried everything on the market and could not get rid of my acne. I finally went to the dermatologist and was given topical erythromycin and it has helped (using it for 6 weeks) and notice a huge improvement in my skin but I also began eating a low glycemic diet. I thought I was eating good but read up on diet and acne and believe there is a relationship between the two. I recommend everyone suffering from acne to try a low glycemic diet but still take one day to eat what you like so you don't give up completey. It was a struggle at first but I realized if I want clear skin I have to sacrafice some things.

Pros:

The only treatment I have ever used that has worked! I have been using it for 6 weeks and my skin is completely clear apart from the red marks left after over 10 years with acne.

Cons:

I am worried that it will stop working and what will happen when i come off it. Gave me a dodgy stomach for a few days but after that it was fine.

This is the best treatment I have ever used and is definitely worth giving a try. Its free on the nhs so there is nothing to lose and side effects are minimal. Its given me more confidence than I have ever had and now i can see light at the end of the tunnel finally!
