Pros:

I had my first treatment and I've already notice a different. It left my skin feeling smoother and refreshed. In fact, I'm already seeing my acne scars diminishing. I was told that after 3 treatments, I will see a huge result, which I can't wait.

Cons:

Expensive

Anything to reduced sign of aging, diminished acne scarring is worth the price!

Pros:

glowing, perfect skin!
even on dark, indian skin!

Cons:

dry skin for 2-3 days after treatment
also, the process is not a luxury facial...it hurts! but worth it.

hi everyone. I had severe acne and went on accutane ( roaccuane) which worked wondersfor my acne, but my scars remained. I tried gentler things for a yr, then 2 mths ago started having 2 wkly microdermabrasion ( CACI Chromaclear which combines it with light therapy). After the first session, i was so disappointed--my face was red, sore and very dry. I almost cancelled my second appointment---but im so glad i didn't because from the second one onward (have now had 4) my face is so fresh and smooth, the dark pigmentation from the scars and some of the pitting even is much, much less! mY face recovered quicker with each successive treatment and my face is so much better -i no longer wear make up.

Pros:

It does work for particular skin problems - improves scarring and blemishes as well as improving acne conditions.
Unlikely there will be any serious side-effects.

Cons:

I needed two days for my skin to settle down again after each treatment.
Microdermabrasion simply takes off a few layers of skin and thats it. It is certainly not a quick fix nor is it for all skin types.

I had this treatment when I was 45 and it saved my life. This wasn't a mid-life crisis - my face was a complete and utter mess after years of neglect. It didn't cure my acne problem but it certainly got rid of the worst of it, as well as most of the scaring and blemishes. I had 12 sessions. The more persistent minor problems needed a different approach. I can certainly recommend it for someone my age (with generally poor complexion) - but anyone under 30/35 with minor acne will probably be wasting their time (and money). If you have this treatment and have sensitive skin (like me) you should wash off (with water) anything that was put on you skin as soon as you get home - and put on normal moisturiser.

Breakouts and scars after Microderm!
I had a microderm and surprisingly broke out horribly afterwards and now with dark scaring. I did not monitor my routines such as applying makeup and others nor was I told to. There are definately are some precautions you should take after a microderm. I did some research on my own and found out it WAS a side effect that could happen YUCK! I also called the place I had it done and was told yes there could be some "purging" afterwards...WHAT? Now I'm dealing with dark scaring worst than IV EVER had, it doesn't look good at all and I'm forced to apply makeup to cover, And to afraid to have another one done or buy a series of them. HEEEELP!!!

It really did help my skin
I had a microdermabration and extraction 3 days ago at my derms office and it definitely help improve my skin texture. If you have a lot of clogged pores and oily skin i recommend it. There really is no down time if done correctly.

Pros:

Helps your skin exfoliate and renew itself for a fresh appearance.

Cons:

Results are temporary and too superficial to treat acne.

I underwent 6 sessions of microdermabrasion - one every two weeks, and then followed up with one session per month. My skin looked fresher and had a healthy glow after each session because the treatment basically exfoliates your skin. My acne subsided for about one month, but thereafter returned to its usual pattern. After the second month I was back to where I had started with the scarring and my level of acne. I would not recommend this procedure as a long-term solution to treating acne. It's a good way to get glowing skin quickly for a few weeks though. Definitely not worth the pain (moderate) or what it costs though (and I recieved a steep discount).

Pros:

Made pores look smaller

Cons:

Where do I start....perforated skin, left hideous burns and scabs

I went to a very reputable medical spa to receive a Microdermabrasion treatment (which I had had before with little to no pros or cons). I had two very small scabs on my face from old blemishes that were hardly noticeable. After the treatment I noticed that these spots had turned into red, oozy, raw messes. I assumed the person performing the micro knew to be NOT go over these areas. My face hurt but assumed it would be better by the next day. No such luck. I woke up with what looked like road rash in several places and a scab so large in one spot that it looks like I got into an auto accident. I can't believe this has happened. I called the office and they told me to come in THREE days later to follow up. Will never do this again. You should never mess with your face. It will take at least a week for it to at least look normal enough to be covered with makeup.

Pros:

Smoother skin after first treatment. Not painful.

Cons:

Very expensive for the results you get

I have done 4 treatments, and it was supposed to be in one of the best clinics in town. I have dark scars from acne in my back and face, but I am not impressed with the results at all!! I may try chemical peel for now, see if I get better results.
