Pros:

Makes skin soft
Makes pores smaller some what

Cons:

Expensive
No noticible difference in scars

I got microderm hoping that it will reduce the appearance of acne scars, but After the treatment my face looked the same... It was just a waste of money.. Before the treatment the doc said the microderm wont do much, if i m looking for fast results... And acne scars will disappear on its own after 3-6 months She told me to instead treat my acne with a cream so i dont get any new breakouts.. After sometime skin will clear on its own... She said microderm is very superficial

Pros:

I started with the neutrogena 8 hour active products the exfoliater and those great pads. then moved on to their mushroom extract dermabrasion.

Cons:

i went through a period of extra sensitive skin peeling, and accidental scarring from overuse.

After one month, my brown scars have faded almost disappearing. My acne has almost stopped completely, nothing to squeeze, nothing to cover up with make-up. When I do get a pimple it is gone within a few days. It used to flair up and spread then leave a scar. To me, it is those pads. they make the biggest difference. Also, the lotion is soooo important.

Pros:

Super Smooth Skin, more even tone, you can see results after as little as 1 session!

Cons:

Im my opinon it is very costly, leaves skin very tight and red afer each session, but none the less still worth it!

I'm a 23yr. old African American woman with acne since adolescence. As soon as puberty hit, the acne hasn't stopped! I've tired every over-the-counter product, even used proactiv, dermatologist recommended prescriptions EVERYTHING! I could not seem to get rid of my acne. I can control the breakouts with products by using them religiously day, mid-day and evening...but the marks have never subsided. I have scars from pimples I've gotten years ago. Thus far, the treatments have lightened the dark marks in conjuction with using their formulated products (Americure). I'm on my 4th treatment and have seen good enough results to continue. I bought a package of 15 sessions at $125 each plus the cost of the products, needless to say if this doesn't work, I will heart broken at the least!

Pros:

So very soft skin.
Quick and painless.
Relatively inexpensive.

Cons:

It's slow going.

I am only on my third session and the results are not where I would like them to be. I asked my derm about it and he said that it could take between 12 to 18 sessions before achieving my desired results. My skin is smoother but I still have scars. I break out a little bit after each session but it's nothing to complain about. I was on a lot of medication to get rid of my active acne before the m.derms and I think this is an extremely important step if one doesn't want flare ups and increased scarring. I really want to get rid of the redness of my scars and the minor indentations. I hope it wirks. My derm. says that I should see greater results after the fourth session. I hope that's true. I'll write back after a few more to update. I have seen some improvement but it's not enough.

Pros:

no downtime, no chemicals

Cons:

causes more scarring, doesnt fade hyperpigmentation, expensive

ive had more than 10 microdermabrasions. i had them done consistently. im not happy with the results. all it did was make my skin look smooth, sort of like when i use a soft buff puff. the mild acne scarring didnt improve nor did the dark spots. in fact, the microdermabrasion left me with more scarring than i started out with. it was a total waste of money. my skin cant handle strong peels and i also work a lot so i dont have a lot of down time so i thought the microderms were exactly what i needed. i was very wrong and i now regret having them done.

Pros:

Skin looks smoother and clearer where I didn't break out

Cons:

Way too expensive for the results that I got

I had two treatments so far at $125 per treatment plus a range of products they sold me costing $300. The first was terrific: my acne scars were lighter and my skin looked very fresh and healthy. It was a little red but I didn't mind at all. However, the day afterwards, I got breakouts on one cheek, and left it alone hoping that it would go away with the products I was using from the salon. The acne got worse and started forming a big, inflamed, red mess across my cheek, and I had to go back to the salon for another micro and for them to extract it. The second micro yielded almost no results. My skin looks the same and the acne on my cheek after the first micro has scarred terribly. I am getting married in 2 weeks and have never seen my skin look so scarred. I guess I must have had a bad experience. I am debating whether to go back 1 week before my wedding to try to clear up the scar again... hopefully my make-up artist can work magic...

Pros:

Minimizes pore appearance (this seemed to be a long-lasting effect), smooths bumps, really helps breakouts (after initial small purging), my 6 sessions faded some hyperpigmentation, but not miraculously.

Cons:

I discovered the hard way that you must continue having a treatment at least every 6 - 8 weeks. Had I realized this I could have saved myself from lots of acne! Pricey - but worth it IMO.

I highly recommend Microdermabrasion. I had 6 sessions last winter and it dramatically improved my complexion. After my 1st session I purged a little but it was nothing to cry about. I took a long break from it after my baby was born and I wish I hadn't, as I started having horrible breakouts again. I went in for another session yesterday. Just for fun I used my digital camera and took before and after treatment photos, and I was amazed at the improvement in hyperpigmentation (much less red) and bumps in just one session. My next is scheduled in 8 days. Don't want to purge, but will bear it just to have that good skin I had last winter!

Pros:

um, none

Cons:

do NOT get professional microderms. They are incredibly overpriced and truly do not do anything you can't do yourself. I wasted $600 and I seriously regret it. I saw NOOOO results.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. get an at home kit if you want to try it.

Pros:

Affordable at home kit, quick, easy, simple, great results

Cons:

Increased skin sensitivity

I have had acne for years. I've been waiting two months to start my Accutane and I'm supposed to be starting in the next couple of weeks. I've always been told that I should try to avoid deep or harsh exfoliation as it could cause bacteria to spread and scarring. I grew a little impatient while waiting for my accutane, I decided to go ahead a try Microdermabrasion. I've been using the Neutrogena kit morning AND night -daily!! My skin is smoother and the scars are fading. I've been doing this for one week and have not had but TWO pimples all week. Note that I'm getting ready to start accutane which means I've had serious acne problems that have failed to respond to other treatments. I do not remember one day where I have not had a pimple and definitely not a full week of practically clear skin. Bottom line!!! It's working for me. I'm wondering if I will even need accutane. I'm so physced. I wish I had tried this sooner. I feel so beautiful! TRY IT!
