Pros:

- Removes dry skin flakes and whiteheads.
- Gentle on sensitive and inflammed skin.
- Feels very light on the skin and is very easily absorbed.
- Very little is required for each application.
- Other beneficial pure essential oils can be added safely to increase remedial effectiveness.

Cons:

- Can feel a little greasy if too much is applied.
- Expiry date should be observed carefully/oxidation will occur if exposed to light and heat.
- From where I come from, oil is not easily and readily available and can be pricey and difficult to purchase (subjected to stock availability)
- Can take a while before any noticeable effects (as with all organic oils). Patience is key.

I decided to try using jojoba oil after going through months of online research on organic topical remedies. I came across many articles supported by scientific studies that claim jojoba oil as being the natural oil that closely resembles our skin sebum. It is, therefore, highly recommended by many as the perfect and most safe product to use in any skincare regimen. I have oily and acne proned skin. I bought a bottle of cold-pressed jojoba oil from Jurlique. I applied a very thin layer of oil on my face and have noticed how light it feels on my skin. I have fair complexion and because of that, my skin can sometimes appear blotchy and blushed. The oil seem to calm the redness gradually over time and made my skin glow. My skin texture improved as well and felt softer and smoother over time. On some occasion, while applying the oil on my face in a circular motion, dry skin flakes and whiteheads have 'rolled out' painlessly. They just come right off on its own. I usually wipe them away with a cotton pad or clean tissue. I also added pure essential oils like lavender, eucalyptus and geranium to the jojoba oil not only for their scent, but also for their therapeutic properties. Keep in mind that when you do add EO, dilution should never be more than 2%. In my honest opinion, jojoba oil is a great oil to use as a moisturizer to maintain beautiful, healthy skin. I am now currently battling severe acne with antibiotics, a condition which wasn't worsened by my use of the jojoba oil, rather by my usual acne breakout cycle and food allergies, a combination of both, made worse by high levels of stress. I am currently using Shiseido's facial wash, moisturizer and blemish gel designed to be used on oily and acne proned skin to further aid in the recovery process. I'd definitely recommend jojoba oil to anyone who is looking for an organic alternative to harsh synthetic moisturizers, most of which contain harmful chemicals, some of which are known skin irri

Miracle
I guess this is not for everyone and it really depends on your skin type. My skin is super, super sensitive and mixed oily/dry. I mostly get huge breakouts in my jaw line and cheeks and I have large pored and blackheads on my nose. My acne is very hormonal, I always get uncontrolable breakouts before I got my period and half-way through my cycle. And also when I'm stressed (I also pick my face a lot when I'm stressed). If you relate to this, it's worth trying jojoba oil (or other types of natural oils). I bought the Fushi unrefined pure jojoba oil, they have a table that indicates the best type of oils for your skin type. When I bought it I was pretty sure it was going to break me out massively, but within two days all my spots were gone. It's been two months now and my face it still pretty clear. I still get spots, especially when I can't resist to pick my face, but they don't spread and are gone much quicker. I still have blackheads but they take much longer to build up. It didn't do anything for my millia though. But overall I'm so happy, I have had acne since I was 12, I'm now 28 and my skin has never looked this good since I was 12. Here's what i do: At night I take 8 drops of the oil and rub my face with it with my hands. Really scrubbing where I know dirt accumulates. I don't even remove my make-up because the oil does the job. Then I wash my face with neutrogena acne facewash beause you don't want to leave any dirty oil behind. Then I use two drops of oil as moisturizer. I stopped using toner because I felt I was stripping to much hydratation out of my skin. Same with make-up remover. In the morning I clean my skin with a very very gentle cleanser (VERY gentle) and then I use a no fragance gentle moisturizer with a drop of oil. I still use a clay and /or a peel off mask once a week. Other changes I did were to keep a towel just for my face and use a clean one every second day. I also change my pillowcase every 2-3 days. I cannot tell you how happy I am with this!

Pros:

reduces redness
helps scabs fall off quicker
purges your pores
softens and evens out skin tone
reduces facial oil
gives skin a nice glow

Cons:

greasy for the first 30min
initial 2+ week pore purge = 2 weeks of facial embarrassment.

I used jojoba oil last year by mixing it with my facial lotion and it gave me wonderful results but I always look overly greasy. I watched a video online from a nutritionist who also used jojoba oil but applied it differently. She made her face slightly damp then poured about 6+ drops into the palms of her hands and rubbed them together, then applied the oil to her damp face. I tried this and saw amazing results immediately! When doing this my skin purged all of the nasty junk for 2 weeks. It was really quite embarrassing since my job involves working with the public and I could just feel them staring at my skin as if I don't wash my face... I am on my 3rd week now and have noticed my skin tone is more even and my scabs fell off in a couple days from the pimples I picked at. Now I feel confident going to work and actually feel clean! My regime is as follows: 1. Once a week (Sunday) I put Queen Helenes Mint Julepe masque on for 15min, then wash off with a damp wash cloth. 2. Once a week (Wednesday) I give my face a nice scrub with St. Ive's Apricot Scrub. 3. Every morning and evening before bed I wash my face with Cetaphil cleanser and leave my face slightly damp from warm water. I then apply the jojoba oil to my face. Within 10min you will see your skin just glowing and looking more even, its great! I think the water helps the oil absorb into the skin easier, that is my guess. I am hoping I don't jinx it but so far I am having excellent results and am finally acne free with only some red marks left! I hope this continues because I am tired of trying new things! Good Luck Everyone!

Pros:

Very soft skin.
Absorbs instantly.
Reduces oil.

Cons:

none

After I cleared my skin with retin-A and fish oil supplements, I wanted something to make it soft and glow. Jojoba oil is wonderful. It's non greasy, didn't make me break out and best of all controlled my oil! Plus it's great to add other oils to it! I got 30ml for $3, which is plenty.

Pros:

Very moisturizing
Gets rid of flakiness associated with acne products!
Makes my skin look younger and so healthy!
Makes my hair look wonderful

Cons:

The bottle I have gets very messy and I tend to always get a few more drops than I want when I pour it out.
If you apply too much, you look really shiny

Takes a little bit of experimenting with to get just the right amount on your skin, but I tell you what, once you do, you will be so happy! I have always suffered with ALWAYS having 1-3 large zits on my face. Once one would go away, another one would appear elsewhere. When I would use acne treatments though, my skin would get unquenchably dry. No matter how intense a moisturizer I would apply, my skin would still end up looking flaky and terrible. :( Now that I have started using jojoba oil, that is all a thing of the past! It quenches my parched skin when I do use acne products, but I have found that I don't have to use them everyday as long as I apply this in the morning and at night. Occasionally I apply only jojoba oil to my face after I wash it before bed, and I wake up with beautiful, glowing skin. I'm so excited that I found this!

Pros:

*Gives your skin that youthful glow and healthy look.
*Excellent moisturizer especially if you're on accutane
*Over time during 2-3 months considerable reduction in red acne scarring.
*Can use on hair to make your hair glow!

Cons:

*Availability limited in New Zealand especially in its purest form
*A little pricey
*Don't wear this on during the day as it makes you shine - best to put it on at night.

Ok so i started using Jojoba oil about 4 months ago as a means to clearing up my red acne scarring. I had read alot of reviews before deciding to go with this - afterall its an oil and who in their right minds puts oil on their acne prone skin? Not to fear, jojoba oil is the miracle oil kinda like god's gift to his children. Yes I did get the initial breakout by using jojoba but i stuck with it. 4 months later my skin glows, acne red scars have faded and I feel my skin heals faster from the odd pimple! I've received compliments from friends and family - 'wow what are you doing to your skin - it looks so nice and you're glowing like a pregnant woman!!' Try this stuff. Please if you love yourself.

How long did your initial breakout last?

July 29, 2010

Pros:

-Cheap (one bottle last me months)
-Super effective
-light moisturizer
-AMAZING

Cons:

-Greasy apply at night
-other than that nothing

I used to have horrible acne. I mean horrible. I stopped using so many products and started just stuck with my face wash and this oil. It was a matter of about 2-3 weeks and my face completly changed. I know this doesnt work for everyone but please give it a try. If you dont see your skin getting better after the first week, stop using it because it probably will either not work or could make your skin worse.

controls oil
so for everyone saying that it broke them out-- its supposed to. Jojoba oil has a purge phase much like other acne treatments, and it comes in the form of ugly whiteheads and red pimples. however, this goes away soon enough. Ive been using dessert essence's jojoba, moringa, and rosehip oil as a moisturizer for about 2 or 3 months. I used to use a heavy cera-ve cream but i realized that this was not good for my EXTREMELY oily skin. now, 3 months later, my oily skin has almost gone away COMPLETELY and now i have basically normal skin. the chemical makeup of jojoba oil is very similar to that of sebum, so it tricks the skin into thinking it has produced enough. over time, you can train your skin to produce less and less oil. i use this after i wash my face twice daily, and i swear by it! i will never use another moisturizer again.

How long was the purging period!

October 1, 2010

Pros:

oil on oil dissolves what clogs your pores
affordable
the *best* moisutrizer, period
easy to use

Cons:

unless you use enough (more than you think you need), you may feel it is clogging your pores

If you used this before and had no success, try it again. I too was disappointed and discouraged by three initial trials. They key is to use a significant amount, 6 drops for me in the morning and at night does the trick. It always feels like too much until it soaks in and leaves you with a matte finish for at least 10 hours. Also, you can use it to unclog your pores. Stop picking at your face and try this. Soak a cotton ball with jojoba, cover your face with as much oil as you can without it dripping (no mess!). Leave it on your face for 20 minutes. Wipe it off with tissue and feel how much softer and smoother your face is. Oil (or in this case a wax ester) dissolves the oil and debris that is clogging your pores. I am finally a convert!
