Pros:

Works very well. It cleared my skin in no time, and is continuing to be effective six months later.

Cons:

Considering the amount I take for the maximum effect, the price can add up, usually about $20 a month, which combined with my other supplements is kind of a lot for me. It's worth it though.

Omega-3 fatty acids, especially those from EPA and DHA like in fish oil, are good for just about every aspect of your health: acne, skin, hair, heart, brain, insulin sensitivity... Probably the most helpful thing I've taken for my acne.

Triggered hormonal acne around chin

Pros:

Increases omega-3's

Cons:

Can cause hormonal acne in some
Chin developed cysts that lasted about a week

Like a lot of others I experienced hormonal acne around my chin after taking fish oil. At first I tried a generic brand, then an organic, but had the same reaction both times. After that I was afraid to try cod liver oil. My chin is consistently fairly clear which is how I knew the cysts were caused by the fish oil. (I started taking chia seeds, then I found Ovega-3 vegetarian dha/epa supplement. I strongly urge everyone to try it who's had bad luck with fish oil causing breakouts. It's algae-based, which is what fish eat in order to obtain their omega-3 fats.)

Pros:

-Healthy glow to skin

Cons:

-Made me breakout

I am 26 years old and I read great reviews on here and other places that Fish Oil is the secret to have perfect skin. I would get about 2 to 3 pimples a month that were controllable and easy to conceal. After a few days of taking Fish Oil, I broke out like I never have before and in odd places. But I decided to stick with it because I thought that it was my skin purging and they say to give it three weeks. About two weeks into my new regiment, I developed a large cystic pimple on my cheek. I have not had one of those in three years. I decided to halt taking Fish Oil because of this. I tried to give it three weeks but there was no way that I was going to risk getting another cystic pimple. They say that if you have oily skin to begin with it can adverse effects. This might work on some but not all.

Pros:

Good for health.
Skin is softer.
Skin may be becoming clearer

Cons:

Pill size may be an issue for some.
Brand and ingredients ARE important.
Slow effect time.

I've been taking 2 a day 1000mg (300mg of Omega-3) Kirkland concentrated Fish Oil for about a week now, and will update my review probably after a month or two just to make sure any progress or lack of progress isn't being changed by hormones. First off I was very wary about taking these after seeing people complaining about cysts and getting MORE acne, not to mention the flavor. I have NOT had any increase in acne or size of acne. I have not had a decrease either, though old redspots seem to be lighter. My skin does seem a bit softer (as a week ago it was insanely dry from winter weather.) I have also not had any 'fish burps', this may be because I freeze mine and take the morning pill with a meal. I'll keep taking the pills, if no other reason than because the omega 3 and fish oil are both good for your health. Like I said, I haven't seen a huge change in my face, but it's only been a week. I have been trying to get my mother to take them aswell because fish oil is recommended to those with high cholestrol. Since some people HAVE had problems with fish oil I would still urge caution and not just say 'this worked for me, therefore it must work for everyone.' But for me, personally, there hasnt been a down side. (Also, as far a pill size go, if you have issues with swallowing pills, it may be hard as the pills ARE very large. I tend to pop 4 large pills at a time though, so it wasn't an issue for me. Gel capsules in general are made to be easier going down. (I received my fish oil pills from a family member, so I'm not sure about the price, so I'm going off of costco's website. anywhere else they sell for far more.

Pros:

Easily available
Inexpensive

Cons:

Doesn't work for everyone
Can cause breakouts or worsen acne condition

Fish oil hasn't worked for me. The day I stopped taking the fish oil capsules, big cysts stopped growing and no new acne has erupted. I've tried this on and off for the past year and everytime I add fish oil back into my dietary supplement, the acne comes back ferociously. I'm giving this one up for good. I've followed a suggestion of one of the reviewers on acne.org to drink lemon water, green tea and plenty of water for quicker recovery and this has worked very well (heaps of thanks to that person). I topped up on freshly squeezed orange juice and apple juice with at least 2 servings of other fruits everyday and my complexion is improving. In short, this doesn't work for everyone. You have to try it to see if it works for you.

Pros:

Cysts caused by acne are gone

Cons:

Takes a few months to see complete results
I have to carry pills around with me so I can take them when I am not at home

It didn't clear up all my acne, but it did get rid of painful cysts. Before this, the only thing that would get rid of these cysts was birth control. In conjunction with retin-A (0.025%) I'm completely clear. Without fish oil, the retin-A just makes the cysts worse. I buy 1200mg fish oil from Costco, and I take 6 a day. I've tried taking less, but the cysts start to emerge again. I eat very healthy and exercise. I found this on [link removed]. You can search through thousands of research articles done on acne. Fish oil had proven results!

Pros:

Smooth soft skin, improved mood

Cons:

none

I have suffered from dermatitis on my face. I began taking fish oil as my skin was very dry. I take 9+ pills a day. My skin is no longer dry, and the dermatitis is far less severe than it was. It appears very rarely and heals quickly. My skin has a healthy glow and it has improved my mood.

Pros:

Regulates hormonal imbalance , more energetic, healthy skin, Zero acne, clear skin, oil free face skin

Cons:

3-4g/day is recommend- I think it's most effective , overdosing can cause mood changes.

Acne sufferers out there stop wasting your money on cosmo acne products, believe me I've been there. Cosmo anti acne-I've used loads of these stuff but it didn't work , I suffered severe acne for 6 years , yep acne took my life for 6 years, its like being in prison -cant go out, can't socialised, I was so depressed but now luckily I found this fish oil working to treat these horrible acne and it's effective, effortless, and more savings rather than buying Cosmo products... Use fish oil!

Pros:

Better skins- smooth and not dry! You have to do your homework and know what type of skin you have-and acne problem! I had good skin I'm over 40 but in the summer I started overdosing on B6! I didn't know to much cause acne until it was two months later and I had dry bumpy face and Hugh cysts on my neck and jawline! Fish Oil pills help reverse my skin back to being smooth, also warm lemon just (leave on ) at night! Of course I use the regime I learned on this website!

Cons:

Alot of research to fine a good brand of pills! And heart burn, which I must say the advice from some of these reviews of freezing the pills and taking it at night does help!

It works if your acne is cause by dry skin! It's worth a try!
