Cons:

gave me AWFUL breakouts
(see below)

i know its very healthy for you but i took this for a week (i know i shouldve taken longer to see if it was coincidence but i dont think it was) and it broke me out awful. of the seven days i got 5 MASSSIVE pimples that, not to be gross, were very puss-filled and took a while for them to go away because everytime i thought they were popped there was more. im glad this works wonders for some but i didn't for me. and im a 17 year old male

Pros:

Seems to help me focus better at work.

Cons:

Deep deep painful pimples develop.

Every time I read another article about the stellar benefits related to fish oil, I go back to my bottle and decide to try them again. About a day or 2 later, painful sores begin to develop. I have moderate acne which has been pretty calm lately. The only time I seem to have flare-ups are when I resume taking fish oil capsules. Was taking about 2000 mg/day.

Pros:

Cleared skin, improved texture, and tone.

Cons:

None whatsoever

Been trying and using prescription products and nothing work this fine, and also works with your body not against it like antibiotics or accutane. It's natural, no wonder why in the bible one of the most mentioned foods wasthe fish!

Pros:

easy to remember (just 2 in the morning one at night)
no messy topical stuff that takes forever

Cons:

none

i read the reviews on acne.org and decided to give fish oil a shot after i stopped doing BP cuz of all the side effects: dry flaky skin, premature wrinkles (i'm 21), angry mom because of bleached expensive bed sheets :( and after a week i have not had ONE single new pimple. because of this i feel much more confident about my skin and can finally go to bed with just brushing my teeth and not have to worry about washing my face, applying bp, applying moisturizer etc. i'm using the fish oil from kirkland (bought at costco which says one per day, but u actually need to take 2-3 per day).

Pros:

Moisturized my paper bag dry skin.
Also softened dry patches on my legs.

Cons:

Greasy of course.
Cheap brands smell like seaweed. I use Nordic
Naturals cod liver oil gel caps which are filtered and have a lemony scent.

For me, I give vinegar the credit for keeping the zits down, but the fish oil definitely helps.

Pros:

Beneficial for overall health
Stronger, shinier hair & nails
Readily available in most stores

Cons:

Caused cystic acne

I researched fish oil online before I bought it and two brands seemed to work well for acne-prone people: Spring Valley and Sundown. Sundown contains soy, so I went with Spring Valley. I now have painful, inflamed acne all over my T-zone. I won't be able to leave the house for a week! Keep the receipt in case fish oil doesn't agree with you.

Pros:

-My skin is softer
-Alleged health benefits
-Inexpensive

Cons:

-Will not clear acne on its own
-Fish burps

I started taking Omega 3 pills to help with my moderately severe cystic acne. While there may be some health benefits to this supplement, it definitely will not clear your acne on its own. I do notice my skin is softer, however. Bottom line: this may be a good way to improve your overall health and thus the health of your skin, but on it's own it is not an effective acne treatment.

Pros:

None noticed

Cons:

Worsened my acne.

I am male in my early thirties. I suffered fom cystic acne on my face until my mid twenties, which subsided with the time, though still getting some on my back. I used the Nature's Bounty brand, taking 4 sofgels a day as recommended by the manufacturer for about 10 days. Results - damn, I broke out badly both on my face and back - deep, cystic acne. It hasn't been that bad for years.

Pros:

For me, none!

Cons:

Irritated my skin and caused a big flare-up
Don't take it on an empty stomach, it tastes pretty bad

Wanted to use this as I know it's supposed to have other benefits (brain function, mood etc.) as well as improving acne but it was a disaster for me! Within a week of starting it, I had huge, painful spots on cheeks and jaw (which are now nice red marks). This was after a couple of months with only minor spots pre-fish oil - I also broke out all over my back which is very unusual for me. I stopped taking them as it was the only new product I'd introduced and my skin has calmed down right away. The brand I bought was quite cheap from the supermarket so maybe it was bad quality - I read now that you should get the best quality possible for maximum omega 3 oil content so I would recommend paying more and maybe finding a good brand online rather than supermarket ones.

Pros:

Makes your skin soft and more even. Results can already be seen in a week or so.

Cons:

I've been eating omega-3 for three months now and it hasn't really done anything to improve my acne.

It improves the overall condition of your skin but for me it hasn't helped with acne. It is very healthy for your though and there aren't any side effects so I would recommend it to everyone.
