Pros:

Brings everything out to surface.

Cons:

Brings everything out to surface.
Extreme purging.
Dries out skin
Makes skin itchy

My daughter has been using this product for over a month now. At first her skin went through extreme purging! Everything was brought up to surface. It seems as though her skin is no longer purging, like it was but it is not cleared up. We are going to give it one more month and then try something else.

Pros:

Tube is really big, lasts a long time. It did do SOMETHING.

Cons:

Initial break out that never really ended... Skin super oily

First off, I thought it was important to review this product to warn others of what I experienced. I have had mild acne for years. Its never been really bad, but it is very persistent. After about a two weeks on ziana my face broke out everywhere. At first I was optimistic, hoping this would be the IB that many experience. However, it also made my skin SUPER OILY. It was this that really irritated me and made it impossible for me to go outside during any type of heat. After about six weeks of continually breaking out I decided to stop considering my acne was WORSE THAN IT HAD EVER BEEN and honestly my skin just didn't feel "healthy" with all that oil. I have now been off Ziana for about a week and a half and things are slowly starting to go back to normal. I would be CAUTIOUS when using a product as strong as this. Look at your acne in the mirror and ask yourself if it is really that bad b/c honestly I personally do not think my skin warranted being that broken out for three months only to POSSIBLY be cleared. Sometimes its better to just let it be. Also, my dermatologist gave my absolutely no warning of the havoc this would wreck on my skin! I'm definitely checking acne.org before I put anything on my face again!

Pros:

A lot in a tube (if it actually helps you this could be a pro), first tube is normally free

Cons:

Does not work, exacerbates, inflames existing acne and makes it itchy

I've been on Ziana for about two months now and it has made my acne more inflamed, visible and itchy where it existed before and has given rise to another patch of acne on the other cheek as well which is equally monstrous and seemingly intractable. I was on a Differin/Duac/Doryx regimen that worked pretty well at one point but my dermatologist recommended Ziana, as I wanted something that was a little bit stronger and had been off the DDD combo for around half a year for various insurance reasons. While I appreciate free things, I do not appreciate Ziana, as it has made my acne a lot worse. If possible I would give it a rating of 0. I am going to switch to lemon juice and hope for the best, as the Benozyl Peroxide solution I have been taking has not been up to par either...ugh.

Pros:

well for one it worked!

Cons:

none, my skin was red ,dry and irritated from other products.

it really depends on your skin on how soon it will clear your acne. for me it was fast after my dermatologist injected this medicine into the really big ones and ziana helped with the small ones by the next day. my derm recommended i apply ziana once a day, my skin seems to be responding very well

Pros:

Treats breakouts significantly faster in combination with my daily Solodyn antibiotic acne pills. Leaves skin's surface feeling smoother when you wake up the next morning. One tube will last a long time.

Cons:

Minimal drying and peeling for the first couple of days. Doesn't seem to fade post acne marks the way my dermatologist said it would.

It is to be applied at night before you go to bed. Let it dry overnight and start seeing results each morning after at least a week of consistent use.

Pros:

Cleared severe acne/cysts completely-- only product to ever do this
No side effects (in my case)

Cons:

Can be drying for many people
Not covered by my ins. $200 per tube.

I did Proactiv, Differin, Benzoyle,Clindamyacin, etc, etc. The only thing left was Accutane. I doubted this product, but it worked. I did have the initial bad breakout (as you will with most products), and after a couple months my skin was completely clear. I've used the product for two years. I am starting to get some breakouts on my chin again, but this is still far better than my skin ever was before. If you try to use this more than once a day, you will get flaky. You may want to start w/ every other, if sensitive. Each tube costs me out of pocket $200, but the tube will last 3-6 months. I was happy to pay for a product that cleared severe cystic acne.

Pros:

Clears up acne quickly. I saw a significant difference in my face within 2 weeks.

Cons:

Makes your skin very sensitive to the sun. It's also expensive if you don't have insurance. Many derms have coupons for this stuff because it's so expensive ($332). Be sure to ask for a coupon or a rebate offer from your derm.

It works! I still have hyperpigmentation scars but my derm said that with continued use Ziana will lighten those up as well. Be sure to stay out of the sun.

Pros:

Exfoliates gently, is not too harsh on skin, spreads over skin easily

Cons:

The purging!!!

**UPDATE** I've been using Ziana for 4 weeks now. Week 2 was great, week 3 was miserable! I barely left the house that week and I have more scarring from that breakout. Ziana seems to do nothing for the big red swollen pimples. Week 4 has been a little better. I can tell that this product is working but day to day I never know how I will wake up. It could be a day with no new pimples or 10 new ones. I really want this product to work and the derm told me that it won't even start to work until the 6 week point. So until then, I hang in there......
