Cons:
Mildly abrasive so might not be great for sensitive skin.
I started the Regimen a few years ago and it worked really well. I went from moderate to mild acne and was pretty happy about it. Several months ago I was looking for an effective way to fade my old acne discoloration scars (again). At the end of my rope, I tried a baking soda mask. The results were amazing! I could immediately see a difference in the evenness of my skin tone. A few days later I did another mask and other people noticed the difference as well. Here's the really good part. I got so excited by the results I started looking for other ways people use baking soda. Based on these reviews I was a little nervous to use it as a cleanser/exfoliant like Arm and Hammer's website says you can. My skin isn't very sensitive so I gave it a try. It cleared my acne completely!!!! I always still had about six fairly small pimples somewhere on my face and usually one full-out zit. They all cleared away completely as soon as I started using baking soda! For the mask: Every three days, I mix about two or three tablespoons of baking soda and just enough water to make a paste about the consistency of tooth paste. I carefully "plaster" it on my face, hold as still as I can (or it will start "snowing"), and rinse it off after about five minuets. Daily routine; morning and night: First I wash with baking soda. I wet my face, pour a little more than a quarter size baking soda in my palm, and add enough water to make a very very thin paste. I gently scrub my entire face with this solution, it's a little scratchy, which means its exfoliating but you also have to be careful not to be too rough. I then follow the Regimen using Cetaphil, a generic BP, and a SPF 15 oil-free moisturizer.

Pros:
Makes skin feel soft, skin looks brighter and feels clean.
Cons:
Haven't found any cons yet...
This isn't a miracle worker for me, but I have been using it for a week and noticed my skin tone looks more even and some of the scars have lightened a bit. I use it every night as a cleanser and once a week I leave it on like a mask for ten minutes. It doesn't burn my skin at all, and it hasn't dried out my skin either. Benzoyl peroxide burned my skin and dried it out. So the baking soda seems to be working. I am going to continue using it and hope for no more acne!

Pros:
Great mechanical and chemical exfoliator
cheap
Cons:
can be drying
alkaline-must balance skin ph with a vinegar solution after use to reestablish skin's acid mantle
Baking soda is the best exfoliator I have ever used. It is a very important part of keeping my pores clear. I also use my Pretika facial brush, my extractor tool to clear plugged pores, and homemade clay masks, but baking soda is an essential part of my skin care routine. I use it at least 4 times per week. Sometimes I'll use it straight. Sometimes I'll mix some in with my cleanser. BUT it is very alkaline and strips your skins natural acid mantle that protects your skin. So after I use it, I use my homemade vinegar toner that is 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 water.
It's just ironic that after spending thousands of dollars on commercial products that are loaded with parabens and other nasty chemicals--I've found success with cheap, natural, vinegar and baking sod

Pros:
smooth skin
less redness
fewer pimples and blackheads
Cons:
can be messy
can sting if applied to open wounds
you CAN scrub too hard!
I have mild/moderate adult acne, as well as other complexion issues. This winter my skin started getting rough and dry patches, as well as many more pimples than before (before it was mainly blackheads) and it was very red in places as well. I started off with chemicals like proactive, and it was painful and made it worse. I moved on to organic stuff. the redness was better, but my face was still flaky. I heard about baking soda, and since I thought it would at least be a cheaper way to exfoliate since my organic frilly flax seed exfoliator was $16. I massaged a paste of baking soda with my finger tips. Immediatly, my skin was very soft and smooth. after just a few days it was much clearer. It has been a week and I don't think my skin has looked this good since before I became pregnant! (when my adult acne started.)
I have been following my scrub with baking soda with 99% pure organic Aloe vera. This also has healing properties, and it moisturizes. Maybe it is the combo as well, I am not sure. I started the aloe earlier, and it became better when I switched to baking soda in combo. I am so happy! I can go places (comfortably) without make up now!
*just to note, other people said it can sting, it has stung when I have open areas. Also, be careful to scrub gently!!!

Pros:
Makes skin super soft and cystic acne disappear
Cons:
May sting a little at first
LOVE IT! It is my savior cleanser. I have struggled with acne since I was 16. I am now 30 and started using this product for over a week now due to having 2 huge cystic acne pimples rsing off my chin. I was so embarassed and needed them to fade quickly. I used it as an exfolient on my super oily face then washed with a all natural bar soap and I immediately seen a difference. It dried the cysts up fast. I use it as a face scrub morning and night, I also dabbed it on my pimples as a spot treatment and left it on over night. I actually felt the pimples cringing and dying as they withered away! his is my miricale fase wash.

Pros:
Very cheap
Works quickly
Cons:
Can make skin dry
I started breaking out (blackheads, white heads and some cyst spots) all over my face this year due to stress and I've tried so many things to get rid of it but nothing really worked. I've been using this for just over a week and although at first it made some of my spots scab up, I kept using it and now my face is almost clear, I mix it with water in a bowl and use it as a scrub before I go to bed and then I use an ordinary aloe vera soap in the mornings. I've got no cyst spots, hardly any whiteheads and I've got fewer blackheads. It does dry out your skin, but then most acne face washes do, just moisturise more! I'm not sure if it's doing anything for my scars, but I've only been using it for a week, so maybe it'll make them fade gradually over time! Has worked great for me

Pros:
*makes skin smooth
*exfoliates
Cons:
*stings at open sores
I just tried it llike two seconds ago after reading some of these reviews and it felt pretty good. It exfoliated my skin and made it smooth. It did sting and its still stinging a little but its deffinately not bad if it works. Just add a little water to some baking soda and rub it in a circular motion on your face. And don't leave it on too long. Right after your done rubbing it all over just rinse it off and dry. And don't forget to moisturize :)
Good luck! Hope it works for u!

Pros:
Smaller Pores, Less Oily Skin, Lighter Scars, Smaller/Disappearing Zits, Better Complexion
Cons:
Stings a Bit, Dries Out Skin Fast
I've been using the Baking Soda/Water face mask for a little over a week and my acne has cleared up almost completely! My scars are much lighter, and my large zits are much smaller, not as sore, and heal much faster! My face gets oily on my forehead and nose especially, and it clears it right up. The down side for me is that I have sensitive skin, so it stings a bit before I can rinse it off, but the results are worth it! I use this once a day before I put on another homemade face mask with oatmeal, lemon juice, orange juice, honey, and mashed banana that makes my face smoother and acts as a moisturizer after the baking soda mask. The lemon juice also takes up evening my skin tone where the baking soda leaves off. Together, my red, chronically blotchy areas are almost completely gone after just 1 week, my scars are much less noticeable, and my skin feels so much nicer.

The best!
I love using baking soda for acne marks. It takes a while, but it does work. What I do is make a paste and apply it to my spots. I let it sit for 5 minutes, rinse and moisturise with coconut oil. I do this every night!

Hate & Love Relationship
I've been using Baking soda for about a year now to help lighten my hyperpigmentation and acne scars.
For me, baking soda is my best friend and my worst enemy. Heres why:
Yes, baking soda works to help lighten your acne scars and fade away that pesky hyper pigmentation, but does not perform any miracles. Like I said, 1 year has gone by and I expected way more results, instead ive only witnessed a somewhat lighter shade to my hyper pigmentation.
What it has handed over to me though, without wasting any time I might add, is:
Dry, flaky skin
Whiteheads and more pimples
& itchy, sensitive skin.
I have to be honest, I don't recommend this product for those focusing ONLY to get rid of pimples, swelling, whiteheads, etc. Manily because it can make your acne worse. But for those looking for a reprive or permanent fix to their scars and hyperpigmentation, this is your answer!! Just be aware of the negatives that also comes with using this.
But hey, everyone skin is different, and I may just have been using it the wrong way. If you truly belive this is right for you, give it a try and it might just work.
Pros:
Clears face, fades scars, very cheap
