Pros:

slightly reduced inflammation of acne
made my skin soft
cheap and very gentle

Cons:

is a little messy
will sting a little
very drying

i have very sensitive skin, so i was skeptical about using this. it is not a wonderful for treating acne, as i did not see much of a result. however, this did make my skin very soft! i have only used it a few times, so maybe it will have long-term effects. i sure hope so! P.S. it dries very quickly and will feel a little funny. when it starts to flake, its ready to be washed off. follow this with a lotion, as it really is drying.

Pros:

Scrubby clean feeling
Seems to clear pores
SMOOTH and soft skin

Cons:

Didn't clear acne
Gave me a red rash under my eyes

I saw the great reviews and was hoping this would help my acne. I've been using it for about a month now. I noticed at first that my skin was very smooth from it, and it seemed to reduce pores. I used it as a scrub in the shower...just poured in my hands and scrubbed on my wet face, leaving it on for about a min or two and then rinsing off. I have an unsightly rash under my eyes (red bumps) that started when I used baking soda. I was being careful about not scrubbing around my eyes too... I stopped using the baking soda because it hasn't helped my acne. I have moderate acne and pustules, and it hasn't cleared since using baking soda. I feel my skin has gotten a bit worse--i attribute it to the pH unbalance that many say this causes. Redness, dryness, nasty pimples...I'm just disappointed. I have apple cider vinegar but i tried that by itself before and it didn't help and frankly I gag when I smell it, so I didn't bother to use it as a pH balancer. I recommend this as an occasional scrub, maybe once a month or week because it does make skin soft and clean feeling at first...I think prolonged use is unbalancing and unnatural for the skin. I am now moving onto Kavi coral soap bars and will reveiw how that works out later. Nothing seems to have lasting effects for me (tretinoin, proactiv, vinegar, baking soda, etc) so I'm hoping this will help. I was only using Neutrogena fresh foaming cleanser morning and night, baking soda at night, and leftover proactiv repair lotion at night (because I wanted some BP and felt I wasn't doing enough to address the acne). If anyone knows of a really good acne fighting cleanser or something to use everyday please email me: foshodathomie@[link removed]

Pros:

Cheap
Easy
Makes skin soft
Lightens any extra tan

Cons:

Texture
Stings slightly

I used this a few times as an anti-acne exfoliant. I think that's why a lot of people are having a problem with it over everyday, long-term use. Baking soda as a facial treatment is an exfoliant; it isn't meant for everyday use. It is also used to get rid of tans quicker. It doesn't lighten your skins natural tone, but it will help to get rid of a little extra tan. My skin is super smooth after this, though I didn't see much reaction when it came to my acne. I didn't like the texture of this compared to other exfoliants. It felt like I was rubbing micro-sized glass into my skin. Overall, I think it's a great home-remedy (I love making stuff for my skin in the kitchen), it's just not for me. (When it's a texture problem, that usually just does it for me) I'm going to stick to my honey and aspirin for awhile.

Pros:

super cheap!
Only takes a couple minutes.
works pretty well the first few times
skin feels tight and pores smaller

Cons:

Burns like a son of a gun! :P
randomly made skin superr red and irritated!!

When I first started using this, it worked very well! It made my skin smooth, and it evened out my skin tone. Then one day I used it, and it BURNED more than before. I didn't think anything of it and left it on. When i went to wash it off, it HURT :/ and my skin was like a tomato red. idk what happened but i'm a little nervous to do this again. my skin isn't very sensitive either....

Pros:

It really works!
But soda is not only good for acne (skin problems) but also used to rebalance someone's acid-basis equilibrium.

Cons:

Itching and red spots

What's more- adding baking soda to a hot bath at any time also helps wash acid wastes out of the body. I tried for throat ache (as I had it every morning in winter). Before go to bed I put some soda- in a wet shawl-then around my neck and the morning after (and since then) I have no more throat ache...

Pros:

Cheap, almost everyone has some, easy to make

Cons:

UHH EVERYTHING BESIDES THAT! Irritated my skin, made my skin red, dried out my skin, burned my skin, did nothing for my acne!

HORRIBLE. DO NOT USE IF YOU HAVE EVEN REMOTELY SENSITIVE SKIN. I really, really wanted this mask to work on my moderate acne. So I poured the baking soda in the bowl, yada yada, and when I put it on my face I noticed it made my nose turn red and raw-looking. I thought "whatever, it's just working I'm sure." so I left it on for another minute or so then got into the shower. When I got out, my cheeks were bright red and my skin felt 10x bumpier than it had before! It turned my slightly bumpy skin into a blotchy, rough mess! I would not recommend to anyone! I'm only going to use honey & professional NOT DIY masks from now on after this horrible experience. It took 2 weeks for my skin to recover! Don't use if you have sensitive skin!

Pros:

Keeps skin mostly clear. Seriously shrinks big ugly pimples that are ready to pop.

Cons:

Messes up your skin in the long run, making it more vulnerable to dryness and infection.

Used baking soda paste from July to November. It DOES control acne very well. Sometimes I'd get a nasty pimple if I didn't use it for a few days, but it nearly disappeared if I applied baking soda paste and left it on for ten minutes. Dries right up. HOWEVER, now my skin is red, flaky almost raw in places. Apparently baking soda screws up the pH balance of your skin. Facial skin is slightly acidic, which helps protect it from infection and damage. Baking soda raises the pH balance of your skin, making it less acidic. Probably doesn't sound like a big deal, especially when you're desperate to clear up bad acne. But I can say from experience that raising the pH level of your skin is a Very Bad Thing. At most, I will probably use baking soda as a spot treatment. I will no longer use it as a cleanser. Too bad, because it did a good job controlling my acne. Note: Some people "balance" the effect by using apple cider vinegar as a toner. I'm not prepared to experim

Pros:

left skin feeling less oily- skin feels a bit smoother in areas- seems to help some with hyperpigmentation as well

Cons:

acne is still there- made skin red

give it a shot you dont have anything to loose but your dreadfull acne! trust me i know how your feeling right now. i continuosly research acne blogs online hoping to find a miricle cure but i think the main thing to focus on is having patience. try not to stress out about your acne and do something fun with the girls for a night to get your mind off of it! -oh and give things time to work. if you use it for a week and see no results dont give up. it takes a while for your skin to adjust to new produtcs! :)
