Pros:

-Cheap

Cons:

-Didn't seem to help acne
-Very harsh on the skin (it's so abrasive)
-Extremely drying
-Doesn't feel good

This might work if you don't have many active pimples, but I do, and it was just too harsh for my breaking-out skin. It ended up making my face all dry and red, and then my skin had to heal the actively inflamed areas. Maybe it would be better if you used it with something else to lessen the abrasiveness.

Just saying it doesnt take a couple of days to get acne away with baking soda it takes up to 2-3 months depending how much you have. Ive been using baking soda for 2 months, each day putting it on and yess it takes for ever put it will get there.

Found it didn't work
I have moderate acne, not severe, but pretty bad. I've used this method multiple times and found it didn't do anything at all for me. Depending on how bad your acne is it probably makes a difference though.

Pros:

cheap
easy to purchase

Cons:

harsh on face
very drying to face
causes redness on face

I found out this method when googling for a gentle home remedy exfoliate for acne prone skin. I also read a lot of the reviews here on baking soda, and I realize that a lot of people run and post a review literally minutes within they FIRST try it...For most acne products, precription or over the counter, it takes weeks if not months to see the effectiveness. It is very misleading information when the product has not be used or tested for a longer period of time. After 2 weeks and using baking soda twice a week ask an exfoliate, about only 1/4 tsp mix with 1 pump of Cetaphil...my face has became very red and dry. It's really hard for me to believe people can tolerate this for up to couple times a day everyday?! I will stop using baking soda as an exfoliate due to the redness and dryness, my skin cannot tolerate it. And when I rethink about this, it saids on the box baking soda is a great scrub for pots and pans...why would you want to scrub your face that is great at cleaning your kitchen??

Pros:

cheap
possibly effective?

Cons:

not for everyone!

I used a mask made from baking soda and water on my face once, and immediately broke into a painful and ugly rash. If your skin is sensitive or dry, DO NOT USE THIS METHOD. If you aren't sure, definitely test it on a small section of skin before smothering your face in it. I'd take acne over that rash any day!

Pros:

None

Cons:

Completely burned my skin.

Do not use this if you have sensitive skin. I used this twice and it burned my skin. I now have to use Aloe Vera for it to heal. Seriously, don't use this. I put this on my face but missing around the eyes and now it looks like I got sunburn while wearing sun glasses because by eyes are completely outlined by burned skin. Please don't use if you have sensitive skin, learn from my mistakes.
