i have been applying a baking soda mask for 2 months now after reading about it on this site. i wanted to give the treatment time before reviewing it...and i must say...the mask is great!! i forgo the lemon juice, and instead just mix the baking soda with lukewarm water until it is at a paste consistency. i then pat, no rub, it onto my face. i leave it on until it dries completely, and then rinse off with cool water. i must say...my skin looks great, and the minimal acne that i had is has decreased to 1-2 pimples at best. i only use this treatment once a week, and follow it up with a toner containing salicylic acid. i use a daily oil free face moisturizer with spf 15. i would recommend this mask to anyone--and for those having irritability issues, i would skip the lemon juice, and just opt for the paste.

Pros:

Clears skin, refreshes, and evergizes.

Cons:

Nothing really.

Helps clean the skin. It is great afterwards to put on a great toner like, withch hazel. And then after to use a natural moistirizer like cocunut oil, or other essential natural oils.

Pros:

Does the job well and dirt cheap. Plus travel friendly - it's powder not liquid!

Cons:

none

Use it when your face is damped. Then rinse it off. Skin is so soft and you know all the dead skin are GONE! Dont leave it too long, dont use it too often. And about the dryness, nothing jojoba oil cant take care of. *wink*

Pros:

Gentle exfoliant, improved skin texture, quick & easy! No burn for me!

Cons:

None so far.

I have been using topical retinoids for over a year. I was on Retin-A for about a year, which helped to bring me out of the worst flar-up of my life, however, I was still not satisfied with the state of my acne. I was then prescribed tazorac cream (supposedly the strongest retinoid) and have been consistent with it every night for three months now. After a substantial IB, I hadn't seen much of a result. Lately, I have found myself turning to natural remedies to supplement the Taz. I just read a story about someone that was cleared from adding baking soda to their regimen, and that sent me flying into the pantry to try some for myself. I must say, that within the first use, my skin felt considerable better. It felt more soft and nicely exfoliated. I left it on for 10 minutes and did not notice any burning (I wouldn't say my skin is super sensitive, but I have experienced burning with other products i.e. Mint Jeulep Mask) only a slight tingleing sensation. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Pros:

Gets rid of acne immediately! Also gets rid of cystic acne. Disinfects the skin like nothing else.

Cons:

Slightly drying after it is rinsed off but not overly drying so that it damages the skin it just does the job.

Follow my instruction: Mix baking soda and water. It should be the consistency of milk not a paste. You will have a thin layer all over your face. You don't need to form a paste it will be to thick and fall off. Put it all over your face and let it dry. I normally leave it on at least 1/2 hour to hour. Rinse it off without scrubbing your face. It will be glowing and the acne begins to dry up. Do this twice a day morning and night. After the 1st day I don't care who you are, you will notice a difference. For cystic acne it will take maybe two more days to deeply penetrate it but it will definitely clear that too, Trust me! Keep using this until your acne clears. Then use once daily as needed to keep acne at bay! This stuff is excellent in getting rid of acne. I was using proactiv and still getting acne because of the chemicals. I came across a site that mentioned baking soda to clear acne. I tried it and I am so happy!!! Please use it you will not be disappointed. Stick with it!

Pros:

Works really, really well. Very noticeable results with the first use.

Cons:

None so far!

It cleared my pimples (Mostly, I'll keep using it!), it kind of "bleached" my scars, so they're not noticeable now, and cleared redness. I mixed a bit of it with water, and rubbed it on my face as a paste. Washed it off an hour later. It's great!
