Pros:

It really works!

Cons:

None

Myself and my two teenagers don't go in the bathroom without it. My fourteen year old son had a really bad acne problem - the doctor was afraid it will scar, so he gave us this very expensive cream that only dried terribly his skin and nothing much. Then we discovered the baking soda. We use it differently though: Wet washcloth with water rub some pure unscented soap like Dove, or I use Castile bar soap, sprinkle some baking soda on top, and rub your face, rinse. The redness and acne is all gone, and we all have baby skin. We also use it for body wash, and my sixteen year old daughter amazes all her friends with her silky, soft and shiny hear (you guess the secret - baking soda)! It washes away all dead skin, and any accumulated gunk. Diluted vinegar can be used for a rinse to restore the PH balance. Give it a chance - we use it for about three months now. The initial dryness goes away, leaving clean and perfect skin!

just add a tiny bit of water to baking soda and then apply it to your face. leave it on for about five minutes and wash off. it leaves the skin feeling soft and refreshed. It may also heal scars.

Pros:

EXCELLENT and very very cheap

Cons:

dry skin but it's cool...

The beginning of this summer I wanted to do something with my Acne Scars and Red Marks. So I searched on the internet for home remedies and I keep coming back to this site. I decided to get the baking soda a try. I started using Baking Soda in June and now it's July. I finally have skin that I have dreamed of back when I was in middle school. No more red marks and acne scars are almost gone. Even my mom notice a HUGE difference. She wasn't happy that I kept on taking her baking soda but once I explained to her she was really happy about it. I'll use the baking soda first as a scrub, then I'll use liquid hand soap, then I use St. Ives face lotion. I'll continue to do this for the rest of my life. After years of fighting acne in elementary, middle and high school; I have finally won the fight. I use this every single day and I LOVE IT!!!!

Pros:

The cheapest, but most effective pimple, blackhead, whitehead, and dead skin cells treatment...so far for me.

Cons:

None

I usually wet my face with warm water then scrub some baking soda to my face. I do this daily before bath. I have sensitive skin though, that's why mild massage is required. Then I apply PONDs Whitening Fluid and vit. E oil before going to bed. After a week, I noticed my face has become clearer and smooth. Baking soda rocks! A must have in the kitchen or beauty kit.

Pros:

Dries up acne more quickly than any topical medication we've tried, and seems to prevent some breakouts......

Cons:

My son says that it itches and burns at first, but then when it's completely dry, it stops burning and itching.

This has become our family's "miracle cure" for acne. My son was beginning to be plaqued w/pimples on his face, chest, and back, and as none of the prescription creams were working for him, it seemed like he was on the road towards taking oral acne meds. As a last ditch resort, after reading this site, I tried using a baking soda/water paste. Within days, his skin was looking better. :-) We now use a baking soda/hydrogen peroxide paste (I just mix baking soda & peroxide until it is a thin paste). Every night, before bed, we "paint" his face, chest, and back w/the paste. He then goes to bed & lies on a beach towel. By morning, most of the baking soda is on the towel, but at least we know that it was on his body for awhile. My son loves the results of using this, and feels that it's worth the 5minutes of itching while the stuff dries..............

Pros:

effective, affordable, works quickly

Cons:

tingling/slight burning, flaking

I belong to a hairboard for African-American women. One of the women online mentioned that she uses a baking soda and water mixture on her face. Her results were very healthy-looking skin with no breakouts. It has only been 2 days since I have been using the product, and I really like it. As I write this, I sit with a baking soda and egg-white mixture on my face. I have been using Proactiv for about 7 years. It has been the only thing that works for me, but I seem to have hit a wall in terms of effectiveness. I have been trying very expensive products recently, in search of the "miracle" product for my skin. NOTHING seems to do anything for the dark and dry patches on my skin. The baking soda mixture seems to be making a difference, however. I plan to use it over the next few weeks and will post any progress that is made.
