Pros:

-cleaned my skin
-unclogged my pores
-reduced swelling
-cleared up nasty bacteria

Cons:

-can dry skin so Moisturize

I woke up one day with one side of my face tender to the touch. My right cheek and right side of my chin had horrible acne. It was painful and embarrasing. I looked up home remedies and found this. I didn't have anything to lose so I tried it. I made it into a paste and left it on for a few minutes. It cleared up the visible bacteria ( you know the nasty stuff right under the skin in the actual pimple) and left my skin smooth. I totally recommend this. Anyone who has acne knows that acne products can be hit or miss. Try it.

Pros:

Dries out active acne
Helps prevent new acne
Reduces redness
Cheap

Cons:

Burns at times

Try it. It did not get rid of my acne, but it helps to keep it under better control. I use it twice a week as a mask and it is very helpful with drying out anything active and reducing the redness of my scars.

Pros:

Makes red marks a litte lighter but no sudden change (at least not for me)

Cons:

- Stings like crazy, especially if you apply it on open acne wounds.
- It can burn your face if you have sensitive skin

For me it helped in the beginning but I made the mistake of combining the baking soda with a cream my dermatologist had prescribed for me. Basically the cream thinned out my skin and made it more sensitive to acidic chemicals. I didn't know this until I put the baking soda on my face and it burned like crazy. After I washed it off, it had burned off a large portion of my skin on my cheek and it was not pretty. I was walking around for a week with an ugly scab until it healed. Needless to say, I will not be using baking soda anymore. At least not at the same time as I'm applying other creams.

Pros:

My skin was noticably softer
It paled the acne
It cleaned out my pores
Most of the blackheads on my nose-they seem more brown than black- are gone
You only have to mix water and baking soda from your fridge

Cons:

It burned like h*** for a few minutes if you got it in any cuts or open scratchs or any openings in the skin
It flakes off after a few minute just by the turn of the head or ANY movement of the head
Doesn't have immediate results like promised

I would probably only recomend this to poeple with very light or light Acne or poeple with blackheads

Pros:

Keeps skin mostly clear. Seriously shrinks big ugly pimples that are ready to pop.

Cons:

Messes up your skin in the long run, making it more vulnerable to dryness and infection.

Used baking soda paste from July to November. It DOES control acne very well. Sometimes I'd get a nasty pimple if I didn't use it for a few days, but it nearly disappeared if I applied baking soda paste and left it on for ten minutes. Dries right up. HOWEVER, now my skin is red, flaky almost raw in places. Apparently baking soda screws up the pH balance of your skin. Facial skin is slightly acidic, which helps protect it from infection and damage. Baking soda raises the pH balance of your skin, making it less acidic. Probably doesn't sound like a big deal, especially when you're desperate to clear up bad acne. But I can say from experience that raising the pH level of your skin is a Very Bad Thing. At most, I will probably use baking soda as a spot treatment. I will no longer use it as a cleanser. Too bad, because it did a good job controlling my acne. Note: Some people "balance" the effect by using apple cider vinegar as a toner. I'm not prepared to experim

Pros:

Helps reduce size and redness of cystic acne, leaves skin soft, makes skin matte looking, when applying makeup after using makeup stays on better and looks great

Cons:

Stings, taste horrible, can over dry, flakes off everywhere if you happen to move your face at all while it is on

I mix baking soda and a cheap sea salt (mortan's) into a thick paste and let it sit on my face for about 10-15 minutes. It really stings where the cysts are but everywhere else is ok. I rinse it off with warm water while rubbing it in a circular motion to scrub off any dead skin and once it is off my skin feels great! I have had cystic acne for years and have tried all kinds of topical medications (over-the-counter and prescribed) as well as numerous prescriptions including accutane and nothing has been this safe and effective! It helps with current flare ups as well as reducing the coloration of my scars. Give it a try, it will help. If your skin gets irritated make a thinner paste (more water) or if you feel it is not helping try a thicker paste (less water). Don't forget to use an oil free moisturizer after you remove the face, it can really really make your skin dry if you don't.
