Pros:

Works fast at first, and then your skin get used to it and it stops working.

Cons:

Dryness

If you stop using it, your skin breaks out terribly.

Can't use it for the long term! I used Proactiv for more than a year. At first, it worked very well and my skin was clear for a while. But after a few months, my acnes made a comeback and no matter how much I applied I still had breakouts here and there, it was very stressful and also it made my skin drier and tighter. I decided to switch to other skincare products- the first few weeks after cutting off Proactiv my skin was breaking out like crazy...I didn't go back to it because I didn't want to grow a dependency on the products. After a few torturous months my skin slowly regain its balance but still breaks out especially during my lady days and other stressful time. Now I think I will give Dan's gel a try.

Pros:

None what so ever

Cons:

Dryness, itching and breakouts

It caused itchy bumps like eczema so They sent me the 'Gentle Formula' which is salicylic acid instead of benzyl peroxide and it caused me more breakouts than ever ' I was so embarrassed. I cancelled and went back to my Mary Kay regimen (Time Wise cleanser (combination/oily), blemish control toner #3, acne treatment gel and their oil control moisturizer #3 ' it's $60 about every 4 months but worth every penny) and the results are fabulous (just a matter of days), just as I remembered prior to trying Proactive. Buy Mary Kay instead.

Pros:

absolutely positively none, zero,zilch, nada!

Cons:

everything. oh boy...i AM SO TIRED of trying treatment after treatment. proactiv does not work! guthy knows that, please offer suggestions of a product that really works, for someone with moderate/severe acne and scars PLEASE!

BIGGEST LOAD OF CRAP EVER! easpecially since I live in Miami and with most acnce products I have to wear an SPF of like a thousand but with this...my face was hot after 5 minutes of being in the sun and it truly burns and I've spent so much time and money because supposedly with consistency it works...again more crap. Acne runs in my family and I for one am not fond of dying with acne so if anyone can please...please recommend anything I would greatly appreciate it

Pros:

it sort of worked... but i had to be anal about it.

Cons:

didnt leave me clean.

i switched out of proactive to another and i started breaking out. i read somewhere that if you switch out of proactiv your face starts freaking out. i think that's true. but i wouldn't use proactive just because i used it for like 2 years and it didnt dramatically change my face at all. i guess it just didnt make it better.

Pros:

It did make my skin feel softer.

Cons:

My eyebrows actually started flaking. I think my skin is worse now in places that were not a problem before. I am getting ready to quit using it. I also have large flaky patches that look horrible with makeup. Ugh!

I think it may be more suitable for younger oilier skin (I am 29) ?? I am really disappointed, and now have to try to get my skin back to the level it was before.

Pros:

Works at first

Cons:

Extremely drying & not THAT effective on spots
Expensive
Some products run out quicker than others

When I first started using proactive I really thought Id found the right solution for my mild/moderate acne. However, after a couple of months, my skin started to peel real bad especially round my mouth and eyes to the point where I couldnt wear makeup Also, it really tightens and stings your face I recently booked a glycolic peel and when the girl examined my skin before treatment through a machine, she said it was so dehydrated and that I should stop using proactive immediately - I could actually see all the dry bits highlighted in purple & it looked really bad. Im going to phone proactive today to arrange a return & my money back. Hopefully they'll honour their money back deal!

Pros:

Works at first

Cons:

After using this product for awhile your skin gets used to it. It dries your skin and cause irratation and your face will break out more....

Don't use it... find a mild cleanser and a spot treatment you like. I used this product for a year and it did work at first. About 2 months ago I started breaking out really bad with little rough spots and bumps all over my face. I kept using it hoping that it would clear my face with no luck...my skin got so dry that the skin around my eyes was soar.. I went to the doctor and they told me I had developed a for a dermatitis from the bp gave me hydrocortisone cream and told me to stop usage. As soon as I finally did my face started to clear up..I am still dealing with the damage tho my skin looks ten times better

Pros:

Doesnt casue redness or flaking. Seems to work well for a little bit if used consistently.

Cons:

Expensive. Long process. Resistance builds up after acouple months and still break out especially if i skip a day.

seems to work for allitle bit if used consistenly but is expensive and takes awhile to apply. everyone seems to have a different response so go ahead and give it a shot.

Pros:

gentle smell

Cons:

like Dan says. The cleanser is too irritating because it has scrubbing beads in it - irritation can make acne worse

I used to have breakouts (pustules) on my forehead all the time. I bought this and used it consistently for 3 months. Maybe it helped with acne clearing faster, but in no way did it get rid of acne FORMING, I had the same number of pimples from beginning to end. If you are in the same situation as me, trust me when I say its not worth it. Maybe it works better for adult acne.

Pros:

For me, less cystic acne.

Cons:

Expensive, and didn't clear my skin all the way; ever. Once I stopped using it I broke out horribly.

It probably does do a good job for the people endorsing it on tv, but it won't work for evryone. Try it if you've done nearly everything else.
