if you dont use it a day you will get acne

Pros:

face feels clean
smooths skin

Cons:

makes your face look shiny

I've only been using proactiv for a week now. I used to have severe acne but just have moderate now and a few scars. So far it's just really dried out and kind of burned my skin and the breakouts are still there. I dont like putting it on in the morning either because it makes my skin look shiny and just not good. But like I said it's only been a week. I'm going to give it atleast 6-8 weeks before making any kind of decision as to whether stop or not. Overall my skin feels a little smoother so I'm hoping it is working somehow.

Pros:

reduces pimple size

Cons:

severe redness and irritation
pimples always come back by the end of the day
does not help with scars or spots
feels oily
enlarges pores

I have been using Proactiv on and off for 5 years. I am fifteen. At the moment, I have been consistently using it for the past 9 months. First off, my skin is far too sensitive for this product. I can only use it at night because of the severe rash-like redness it causes my skin, and I would not go into public like that. In the morning, however, my pimple size is reduced, but my pore size is huge and I feel very oily. I also have scars from past acne damage, but Proactiv does not help me with that, either. I feel like my acne should be getting better by now, but it stays pretty much the same, and I had only light to moderate acne to begin with. The reason I contiue using Proactiv is because I hear it's the best thing out there, but I'm not really getting those results. Is there no hope for my skin?

Pros:

The first time I used this product it worked well, it cleared up some of my acne, but after a week or so the acne started coming back and it was even worse.

Cons:

It burns, it makes your skin VERY, VERY dry and thin and after about 3 weeks my skin started peeling off.

It didn't clear up my face at all, in fact, it made it even worse. It was so dry, my skin almost cracked. At least, that's how it felt. Also, it made my skin very itchy and it started peeling off. It was very gross. I couldn't go out in the sun without putting on sunblock, otherwise my skin would get even drier. So at that point I stopped using proactiv and now I'm using a regular oil-free face wash. Also, I began eating more fruits & vegetables and I stopped using dairy products, although the last one is very difficult for most people. The results are not always perfect, but it worked for me! I know it sounds corny, but I really think the key to beautiful, clear skin lies in your cupboard!

Pros:

kinda starts to work when you first start to use it.

Cons:

Skin got worse whenever I didn't use it!!

It was nothing like I expected it to be. It made my skin dry and more red. I thought that my over the counter neutrogena worked better than this.

Pros:

They made it easy to get my money refunded.

Cons:

It burned my skin!

For the first 3 days, I noticed immediate, noticable improvement with my acne. I was feeling really positive about it until the fourth day when I woke up with a fire-engine red rash all over the bottom of my face. It looked like I had Yukon-style wind burn! It was sooooo sore, that within a couple of days I had to go to my doctor for some relief. He did say that in his opinion it's not a very good product, and that the problem was NOT that I was allergic to the Benzoyl Peroxide like how their representative had insisted. My advice is that if you start to feel a stinging at ANY point during the Proactiv treatment, STOP USING IT! In addition to avoiding the embarassment of a really awful looking/feeling rash, you could save yourself some money on prescription medicine to relieve the burn as well as a doctor's visit.

it appears to work for the first month... but after that it stops improving your skin. i found skinID by neutrogena VERY VERY effective and fast and affordable. check it out before you buy proactiv.
