Pros:

-Helped to control acne.
-The refining mask works decently for spot treatment/concealing.

Cons:

-While it helped me get less acne than I would normally I still had regular breakouts and my acne never fully went away.
-On the expensive side for what you get.
-The multiple step process is a bit tedious.

I used the stuff for years. I have moderate stubborn acne and proactive helped to eliminate maybe half of the pimples I would have otherwise gotten. However, I believe it is reasonable for one to expect an acne fighting product to actually get rid of all (or most) of one's acne. Proactiv never succeeded in doing this for me. If you have light acne you may find some success with using this product but otherwise I cannot recommend Proactiv.

Pros:

• Non-offensive aroma
• Somewhat effective
• Inexpensive

Cons:

• Drying
• Not 100% effective
• They send out a lot of annoying emails and direct mailers

I used Proactiv a few years ago for a few months and then again recently for a few months (I was coaxed into giving it a second try because of the reformulation). Both times the product was mildly effective, clearing up small blemishes. It seemed to have little to no effect on my larger, cyst-like blemishes and did not help much during my hormonal peaks each month. My skin would also get very flaky, even while using the moisturizer that came in the package. The bottom line is that I would not recommend this product to anyone over the age of 25, experiencing moderate to severe acne, it's far too drying and I believe that because of that it is more likely to damage the skin rather than heal it.

cheap
smells good

Cons:

Stops workin

Doesn't work
March 1, 2011

Pros:

- easy to use
- baby-powder smell
- refining mask
- lasts a few months per package
- 2.5% benzoyl peroxide

Cons:

- expensive
- makes acne worse in the beginning
- leaves skin flaky and dry after prolonged use
- doesn't work for more severe acne
- doesn't help heal scarring
- can bleach clothing and towels

For years I had wanted to try Proactiv Solution, and I must say I am very disappointed with it. My mom picked it up for me one day and I have been using it every night since then (approx. 3 months). At first, I really liked it - the cleanser had ex-foliating beads, the toner didn't have alcohol in it, and the lotion wasn't oily. Also, the scent is almost like baby-powder, which I didn't mind. We also knew that the benzoyl peroxide was capable of bleaching, so that didn't create a problem. I know they mention that your acne will get worse before it gets better (which did happen) but I really didn't expect it to get SO bad. As of now I have little to no active acne, but I have added scars from the worsening. And nothing in the combo therapy helps with scars! That was probably the killer for me. It also made my skin dry and flaky after these months - even though I only used it once per day. I never used to have dry skin (usually quite oily) but I now have combo skin. I will finish what product I have left but will not be buying more.

Pros:

You might think your acne will go away finally, just like it did for Vanessa Williams, Jessica Simpson, Katy Perry, or whoever it is they're paying the big $$$ at the moment to endorse their product...maybe..

Cons:

...You realize soon enough it's not going away- you do not have magical celebrity luck that Jennifer Love Hewitt possesses(or whoever is on their payroll at this time).. & especially not if you have cystic acne.

I think this product may work for some people, particularly those who have inflamed acne that is not too severe aka "the pizza face"- red inflamed zits all over the face, and especially for those who maybe going through a *temporary* hormonal phase. I have known people who have sworn by this product and they fit the acne profile that I just described. I on the other hand, had big cysts, and I had both inflamed & non-inflamed acne, and it was a chronic problem, so this product didn't even make a dent for me. I imagine over time this product (like most acne products) will lose its potency for those with more severe, persistent acne. One size does not fit all. Sans shipping fee, I did a full refund.

Pros:

-clears up most acne

Cons:

-expensive
-burns face
-leaves scars
-does not 100% prevent acne
-bottles are so small for the price

ive been using proactiv for 2 months and it isnt bad but i definitely isnt what i expected from it. Like any other acne treatment it works if you stick to it but if you skip an application (like i did because the BP is too harsh at times) you may break out. The refining mask is GREAT at reducing the size and soreness of new pimples and helps to stop future breakouts.

Pros:

Made my skin softer
Keeps acne from worsening

Cons:

Did not clear acne
Expensive

Proactiv only keeps my acne from getting worse; it has not cleared my skin. I had to spend about $100 for a 4-5 month supply and have been using it for quite a few months now. I only continued to use this because I have not yet found a product that clears my acne.

Pros:

Love the moisturizer.

Cons:

Way overpriced.

As a system, I'd pass. The cleanser is abrasive and causes discomfort and increased oil production. Toner is an extra useless step. However... love the moisturizer! I don't use it as part of my daily routine, but it's perfect if I'm having a bad skin week. Not moisturizing enough for me for daily use, but stops a breakout in it's tracks, feels great, dries quickly. I always keep some on hand. System is a 1, moisturizer is a 5.

Pros:

- Got rid of quite a few pimples

Cons:

- Very expensive
- Stung like mad when applied
- Skin became inflamed and red
- Dried skin out till it was scaly and flaky
- Tedious to apply all the different products

I have sensitive, combination oily skin, where I have loads of pimples on my t-zone but none on my cheeks and chin. I'd recommend this if you don't have sensitive skin. I do, and so I had a rather awful reaction to it. It hurt so much when I applied the toner and the repairing treatment I teared and winced. It dried out my skin so much that it became scaly and peeled off in huge flakes, and my friends pointed it out. However, it did actually get rid of quite a few pimples, and lessened the severity of my acne. The whole acne kit also consists of so many different products, and it's really time-consuming to go through the entire regimen, having to wait for everything to dry/get absorbed, so if you're a student or are working it might not be very suitable, especially if you're usually in a rush in the morning. Basically, I think that it'll work for you if you: - don't have overly-sensitive skin - aren't one of the 5% of people who are allergic to proactiv - don't mind spending a tonne of money on something that might not work for you - have lots of time in the morning Good luck! :)
