Deceptive Billing - USE CAUTION - Proactiv
I called to cancel my Proactiv 2 months ago, but continued to get $43 charges for the past 2 months. That's when they told me that I was on a 90 day recurring cycle and it had to run its course! What?! This doesn't make any sense! Stop sending your overpriced products and stop billing my credit card! Where did this 90 day supply wording come from? I wanted to see if the product was worth it with a one time purchase, which it was not, so I cancelled.

I actually heard about this, and I have some advice for anyone who wants to continue to use the product, but is afraid of this happening to them/has had something like this happen. We read the pissedconsumer reviews AFTER ordering the product (genius, I know) and called after getting it to cancel. I ordered a 90 day supply from the start - BEWARE AND READ THE FINE PRINT. It'll be there on the actual ordering screen. They tell you that they will start billing and sending you 90-day supplies one month after purchase. They say they'll charge you on a monthly basis, but send out the 90-day supply. We order the 90-day supplies, then we call and politely ask them to cancel the account and remove the credit card information. It's always been a quick, easy process for us, but I agree that this process should not be necessary and it does raise question as to the legitimacy of the company. I have heard of out-of-nowhere charges that don't even have anything to do with the billing cycle, or people getting charged and shipped kits that they wont need for months. Please do use caution, or purchase it from an actual store.

Do not buy this!
Worst decision I have ever made in my life. My acne wasn't bad before I just had some blackheads on my nose and some acne scars. I decided to try it out to have better skin but this made my skin worse!!!! I got a rash from using this!! Ever since May of this year I've been trying to get rid the pimples it's given me. I feel so embarrassed to even go out because of how much acne I have. Please don't buy this save your money on something better like food.

Pros:

Helped prevent acne scarring
Made my face feel smooth
Decreased acne

Cons:

Didn't last me 90 days, I always ran out of stuff
Stinks
Stains stuff so easily

I got proactiv when I was a teenager and I will admit for the first 1-2 years it worked really well. My acne decreased significantly and I rarely got acne breakouts. However, after those 1-2 years it stopped working completely so I stopped making my mom pay for it every 2 months. I did notice it prevented the process of my hyper pigmentation to heal and fade away. Now that I've stopped proactiv my red marks don't last near as long as they used to! I wouldn't recommend this product because it's expensive and most likely won't work for severe acne cases. Also I noticed that the people in the commercials never had any sort of scarring, which I found kind of weird because you'd think at least ONE of them would.

Pros:

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BUT RATHER PROBLEMS

Cons:

BESIDES BURNING YOUR SKIN FACE, THE COMPANY CHARGES YOU CREDIT CARD FOR THINGS YOU DID NOT ORDER

Unfortunately Drs Rodan & Fields have concentrated in how to get to people's credit cards rather than trying to resolve acne. They are masters in running a successful business, once they get your credit card number; your real headaches begin and in the meantime you start realizing their product doesn't work. However, they keep billing your credit card for even products you did not order. They keep your money hoping you get busy with your life and forget to return for refunds. DO NOT use this company for any of their products. They DO NOT care about your acne, but rather making themselves rich.

Pros:

Pricing, eh

Cons:

A LOT!

FIRST OF ALL, it's better to buy it online! I bought it @ one of those booths in the mall, it was wayyyy overpriced! It was about $100+ Online, you can purchase it for about $40. ** and you might be able to get a free gift. It dried out my skin. Used it twice a day, for a couple of weeks, didn't notice any change.

Pros:

None

Cons:

-Actually made my face more oily, like dripping in oil oily
-Left me with these massive cystic zits that WOULD NOT heal
-Seriously, why is this stuff so expensive? It's just Benzoyl Peroxide.

I'm a Proactiv veteran from when it was just a fledgling company on late night infomercials, before the never-ending string of obnoxious celebrities lying about the effectiveness. It worked for a good number of years for me, and then all of a sudden I started getting these massive puff-ball zits that would sit there for a good month. This was about five years ago already. I think it has something to do with the fact that they have had more formula changes than one can count. There's always something that is "new and improved" and then the stuff works worse. Meanwhile, they add all sorts of other expensive garbage like spot treatments and refining masks. Just make your original crap work again! The oddest thing is that when it stopped working, it made my face crazy oily. It was so bad, people thought I was sweating all the time, but it was oil. It was so bad, there was an odor. Because I was so used to it, I kept using it, thinking it was my hormones and they would regulate. Finally I got fed up and had to try other products. I switched to MaxClarity and the oiliness went down and the cystic zits were gone in a couple of weeks, if that. But MaxClarity dries out my skin bad in the winter, so I switched back to Proactiv, and got two large cystic bumps from a day and a half of use! And the oiliness was back! The bottom line is that this product is now more celebrity hype and marketing than actual acne relief.

Cons:

did not prevent break out
did not clear my skin of acne
pricey

I had started using the proactive products in mid November of last year. It is February now and I haven't notice any change in my level of acne. If anything I think I have had more break outs using the product than I did before hand. Do not waste your money on this product, if you really want to stop acne go to a dermatologist and ask about acutane.

Pros:

Customer service cancelled when my mom didnt want me on it anymore.

Cons:

dried out my skin
stung after a while
made my face red and blotchy
gave me wrinkles at 15!

The bottom line is i do not recommend this product. Even if you have very oily skin. just dont use it. Its way too harsh. Heres what im using and it works. Cetaphil gentle facial cleanser, burts bees blemish stick.

Pros:

does clear skin

Cons:

total sham

they sign you up for $19.95 & tell you that you will get billed monthly... what they dont tell you is that each shipment that you get is $60 something & they break down the payments. I went to cancel & they told me i still owed for $40 for the last shipment i was sent. i asked if i could send that shipment back & they said yes but it would take 60-90 days to refund my money. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!
