Pros:

It really works!

Cons:

Pricey

I actually tried the original Proactiv three step system about 9 years ago. After one use it completely tore up my face so I sent it back and was refunded. I have continued for years to suffer with moderate acne mostly on my chin. I recently saw an ad on tv for the NEW Proactiv which boasts to be gentler on your face. I thought what the hell may as well try it again. I've been using it for about two weeks now and it has completely cleared up the breakouts on my chin and just under my nose area. I was literally amazed. My face felt smooth and the products themselves felt creamy in texture. At first my skin dried out a bit but I just applied their green tea moisturizer after applying the third step and I'm good to go now. I just hope my face continues to stay clear like this I have my confidence back. I haven't had completely clear skin since high school and that's been 22 years ago!!!

Pros:

Can buy online in a set

Cons:

Expensive, harsh, creates more pimples

When spending 40 plus dollars on an acne system you expect a top quality product in a size that will last. Well, when you get the starter kit the bottles are TINY! They would maybe last you a month or two. Then after only one day of use my face started to get very red and bumpy. By day two I had twice as many zits as before and on top of that it hurt to move my face at all. I then began to get large pimples, twice the size I have ever gotten that were painful and very enflamed. That was the final straw. I quit using New Proactiv and switched to using Cetaphil face wash, a Netrogena toner, and Olay lotion and my face is finally back to normal and even better than before!

If Only... If Only
Yes proactiv is a great product for some people. Why? Because it does work. But it really only works for a while and then your skin seems to start to build an immunity to it. My skin started clearing with Proactiv for about maybe 3 or 4 months and then my acne flared right back up and it began to burn, peel, and destroy my skin. Also, you become dependent on it. Your skin becomes immune to it, meaning your acne is strong enough to beat the treatment BUT it is still working to keep some of it at bay. So the SECOND you skip one day of your routine, all holy hell breaks loose on your face. Both my sister and I have used this product with the same result but it did last longer - about a year - for my sister.

How is this business still successful?
I am crying. Worst decision ever. Adam Levine, you've ruined you for me. I have never had had a worse reaction to anything ever. Known allergies: proactiv & all of its sh*tty associates & celebrity endorsers. Going back to neutrogena pink grapefruit fa sho. Fck you rodan & fields!

Pros:

None

Cons:

Expensive! Plus, made my sons acne worse. I returned the product, but never got my money back! Our son used it consistently for over a month. Did nothing, but irritate his acne.

Ended up using dial anti bacterial soap, which his pharmacist recommend before using his prescription creme. His acne is better...

Like most other reviews say, it worked for a while but I still broke out. I returned an order and never received credit for it. You can't cancel online, you have to call. I do not recommend ths product. Use your money to eat healthy instead.

It's a waist of money. I have yet to have a clear face. I want to stop using the product, but I don't know what to use.

Pros:

NONE

Cons:

Expensive. Caused a red rough rash on my face and neck that was painful, stinging and itchy.

I would certainly not recommend this product for anyone. I tried it when I was 18 and had really bad pimples and sensitive red skin. The adds on TV suck you in especially when they say it is ok for all skin types when it is not. I used to for about 2 weeks but had bad side effects after 2 days; continued using out of desperation for fix. Ended up with a red rough rash on my face that stung and was itchy and painful. In the end I have found that a good moisturiser (eg matis sos for sensitive skin), eating healthy and having plenty of water is the best way to treat acne. Try and stay away from the strong chemicals.
