Pros:

None

Cons:

leaves skin oilier, made acne worse, expensive

Simply put Murad is terrible. Im in my early 20's and I have mild-moderate acne. After trying proactiv for a while and not completely sastified with the results ,as it left my skin flaky and dry and I always seemed to continue to get pimples, I decided to switch over to Murad after seeing the informercial on television. Big mistake! I started getting hundreds of tiny pimples on my forehead, and also in areas where I usually never breakout (for example: under my chin, side of my face, upper lip and nose) and worst of all I started to get cystic pimples in areas as well, this was something I have never experienced before in my life! It became so bad that I didn't want to even come out of the house! I continued to follow the regime for about a month because they said to stay on it for a the full 4 weeks to see results. I did and I seen results alright, Very bad ones. It just made my mild-moderate acne to severe. I would never recommend this treatment to anyone. Save your cash!

Pros:

When I first started using Murad, it seemed to make an immediate difference in the amount of oil and redness on my skin, and the spot treatment worked great, sometimes it would nearly eliminate a pimple overnight.

Cons:

After about six months of regular use, my skin seemed to become Murad-resistant; I broke out as much as ever and the spot treatment didn't do anything. Also, if you order online, they continue charging your account and sending a bimonthly package.

Murad worked really well at first, but was not a long term solution to my acne. Also, the moisturizer was way too oily for me and I could only use it about once a week. Overall, I would not recommend it especially if price is a concern for you.

Pros:

My skin is healing; less breakouts; new breakouts heal faster. My skin is no longer red and flaky. My skin is smoother. Within a few days of using the product, I lost the red delineation between my face and chin from when I had used benzoyl peroxide.

Cons:

I did break out more during initial weeks - the purging was awful - but I knew my skin had trapped a lot of bacteria that needed to surface. Stick with it and you will see results, you just need to get over that few week hump of extra zits!

I'm nearly 37 years old and went off the pill 2 months ago -I had not had a significant breakouts until I went off. I'm getting married this October and needed something to clear my skin which was breaking out with deep cysts on my chin along with red, painful whiteheads on my forehead, temples and chin. How stressful! An over the counter Benzoyl peroxide product seemed to be aggravating my skin which was continually red, itchy, and flaky -I knew I needed to try something new. I have been using the MURAD brand acne kit for nearly 4 weeks and have seen dramatic results. (Note - I use the 3 main products and only have used the moisturizer like twice b/c I really don't need that.). Adult acne is not fun; I am very pleased with Murad's acne treatment products and will continue to use it. .

Pros:

cleanser is great and will last for a while. Buy the set, it will save you money.

Cons:

- spot treatment is VERY stingy, and may dry out the skin around the acne.
- purging process really tests your patience! I was horrified after the 1-2nd week of usage..pimple mayhem.

I'm really glad i stuck it out and kept using it for a few more weeks after my crazy breakout (crazy because I have never broke out like this in my life). Started getting a lot of tiny acne on my forehead (which NEVER happens), but its clearing up now. It seems to dry out, harden, or push the dirt in your pores up to the surface. I started noticing my blackheads crusting and it was so easy to just pick away the entire blackhead out. My pores are definitely cleaner. I use it with Clarisonic, and it seems to be working really well. I feel like the longer you use it the better the results. I still have quite a few pimples around my cheek and forehead, and some of them are red bumps that take much longer to heal (and are actually painful-feels like a swollen bruise on your face) and seem to scar/turn into a sizable brown blemish when they do. The difference in skin is most noticeable when I wake up in the morning-all the acne and redness has been reduced.

Pros:

Smells good, feels good, has a cooling effect.
The spot treatment definitely gets rid of any pimple I get virtually overnight! The cleanser makes my skin feel soft and clean, and the lotion is my favorite part! The exfoliating gel is refreshing :

Cons:

At first the exfoliating gel is harsh and burns but only because I accidentally used it twice a day, when they advise you to use it once a day for the first 2 weeks... The purging process sucked but worth it after. Doesn't do too much for blackheads.

I recommend this with no hesitation. It works, it gets rid of my breakouts, I don't have any bumps on my face period and nothing else worked for me. It's definitely worth a try!! It's easy to get at Sephora and online on the website it's even cheaper.

Pros:

Nothing 'pro' for me.

Cons:

I gave the product 9 weeks to work. The purging was HORRIBLE - lasting all 9 weeks. My face is in worse shape now than it was before Murad. Proactive wasn't cutting it anymore, so I tried Murad. My skin looks older & I fear it will never recover.

If you have hormonal acne - this product is not for you. I even called the customer service number after 4 weeks for advice and she told me Murad probably would not help hormonal related acne. She said it can take some people longer than 4 weeks, so I stuck with it another month or so. I have more breakouts & cyst type breakouts than I have EVER had in my whole life.

Pros:

None

Cons:

I gave this product at least a year and it always gave me bigger painful pimples. I recently stopped using it for Your Skin Care RX and my acne has cleared up.

I think the medicine is too strong and my skin is at a point where those strong acne medicines just aggravate it more. I'll never buy Murad again and won't recommend it.
