Not sure I know what you mean by 'crust' as thats never happened to me... but you shouldn't wash off the BP. You want the BP to stay on your face, so it continues working.

Or lanolin (it can smell and taste like crap though...but it really works!) A lot of people are allergic to lanolin though (myself included) so be careful.
