sorry haven't got time at the minute to do a complete write-up but I've been using Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil-Free Moisturiser for the last couple of months and it's doing pretty nicely.

I previously tried the Simple oil-balancing moisturiser with zinc PCA however this blocked my pores and caused me to break out in very small red spots all over. Funnily enough more recently I gave the cleanser from the same range a go and its actually working quite well. Make of that what you will...

I've just gone n bought Simple Spotless Skin Anti-Blemish Moisturiser & I'll be using it for a week or 2 just to see how i get on as i also bough the Panoxyl 2.5% And Clean & Clear Exfoliating Face Wash and i'm going to order Some Jojoba Oil.. I swear by Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturiser. I've tried switching before and everything else I've ever tried over the past 3 years, most recently, Cetaphil and Nivea Oil-Free Day Cream, has always broke me out / not moisturised enough, so I always go back to it and regret ever doubting it.

Neutrogena Stings a bit, and tends to make my face go red for an hour or so after I apply it but without a doubt it's the best, and in my opinion, only moisturiser which both doesn't break me out and moisturises enough.

Oxy anti-spot balm ('engineered for male skin' but i'm sure lasses could use it too)

Ingredients:

Aqua, Cyclomethicone, Zea mays starch, Glycerin, Sodium chloride, Lactic acid, Dimethicone/ Vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, Dimethicone copolyol, Panthenol, PPG-3 Myristyl ether, Phenoxyethanol, Dimethicone crosspolymer, Cetyl PEG/ PPG-10/ 1 Dimethicone, Isoceteth-10, Parfum, Silica, Zinc PCA, Hydrolised algin, Disodium EDTA, Limonene, Linalool, Butylphenyl methylpropional, Zinc sulphate, Alpha-isomethyl ionone

As you can see, looks pretty good, with just one questionable ingredient (zinc sulphate). I personally have found this less irritating than any other moisturiser I have ever tried.

I think the best moisturiser available has to be jojoba oil.

I've probably tried every moisturiser going and have settled on Clinique's "M-Gel Lotion" myself. As it's a Gel, it feels more hydrating than a cream and mixes well with Jojoba Oil and on-top of something like PanOxyl AquaGel.

As an addendum, I'd like to give a huge thumbs-down to Nivea For Men. I don't know what it is, but it somehow manages to feel both greasy while having a chalky, cheap matted quality. It doesn't absorb very well into my skin and breaks me out like I'd washed my face with Butter.

Been using the Simple Hydrating Light for about a month now and think it might be a keeper. The consistency is sort of similar to the Complex 15 I was using. Not to heavy but at the same time, does a good enough job at moisturising. I've wanted to get my regimen down to all products I can buy on the high street which I've now done.

I'm just starting the regimen today. Has anyone else tried using just jojoba oil as a moisturiser? I have very curly hair that eats up moisturisers like you wouldn't believe, but most store-bought products that I could put in it contain ingredients that I don't want gluing up my hair or on my face. It turns out jojoba oil is quite good for hair conditioning and it's been my habit for the last year to use it on my face as my only moisturiser - the fact that I've found a one-ingredient product to use on both my hair and face is freaking AMAZING. I couldn't use the amount that is recommended for moisturising in the regimen because it'd be too oily - in fact, the 5 or 6 drops that most people seem to add to other moisturisers is fine for me. Jojoba oil is supposed to help regulate the oil production of your face and although I still get oily skin it's not as bad as it was.

I also use grapeseed oil instead sometimes but I'm unconvinced that it's as good :/

La Roche Posay Toleriane Fluide -

These are the ONLY ingredients it contains - I double checked the packaging.

All these ingredients got a smiley face in Paula Begoum's directory, apart from Sodium Hydroxide which go a so-so face . Apparently Sodium Hydroxide is fine in small quantities and can be used to regulate PH balance on the skin - but not so good in large quantities.

This is absolutely brilliant stuff. I have been using it for about 8 months now. It got me through a 7 month course of Roaccutane with barely any irritation at all. It's soothing, non greasy and leaves no residue. My only gripe is that they don't do a SPF version of this. HG!

You can get it in Boots - I use it with the LRP Effaclar Foaming Facial Wash.

I have been using a few moisturisers that people don't seem to have heard of and I have gone through the ingredients using your sources, so here is what I have found.

Brief Review

This moisturiser is described as a compensating moisturiser and is specifically for those who have been on acne treatments such as Roaccutane, but also other topical or oral treatments that have dried the skin and made it fragile. My personal experience with this product has been mixed. As soon as I tested a small bit on the back of my hand I noticed immediately the fragrance. They have obviously added a fragrance, something that La Roche Posay seem to do in a lot of their products, as is shown in the ingredients list, and that was quite worrying. I tried it and it does a good job of moisturising the skin. It does stay on the skin and not really sink in, but after you wash your face you can feel that it has moisturised quite well. I have found that it causes me to break out a little, so I am not sure I will be continuing using it. It is more for those who have finished a course of Roaccutane or perhaps another treatment and have little chance of acne coming back. It is designed to help repair the skin after such a harsh treatment and probably not for use whilst you have acne.

I have another La Roche Posay moisturiser I have used that I will post in here soon. This one is more for those of us who have acne and need a moisturiser. There is also another sebum-regulating one from La Roche Posay that I have not tried and that is new. I will post some reviews of other 'oil free' moisturisers I have used too.

Has anyone found a moisturiser in the UK or on the internet that seems to have near enough no pore clogging ingredients and that doesnt leave a layer that stop your skin from "breathing" and getting rid of "stuff"

because there seems to be a problem with every single moisturiser on the market, my skin is dry, severely blocked pores everywhere and I really need to find something to keep my skin moisturised and wont cause additional problems??

I used it for a year or so before starting the regimen and it worked well but I am not sure if it contains ingredients which causes acne, I have switched to Eucerin for the regimen but it is expensive with a very small amount in the bottle and stings like hell for the first 10 minutes of applying.

I've been using aloe vera gel by Banana boat. It's suppose to be for sunburn, but it calms down my irritated red skin a lot!

It's supposedly good for scars too, although I haven't used it long enough to see if it is or not.

U can try products from Liz Earle UK specially their super skin concentrate and mineral sunscreen. Their products are all natural and high quality.

Contains no nasty stuff (no artificial fragrance or colour).. and is ultra rich yet doesn't clog up my pores..

I also add a few drops of jojoba oil and my skin has never looked better

Would love to find something cheaper that does the same job... but have not found anything that moisturises to the same extent, so have always gone back to using this one.

I have combination skin, dry once washed and oily for the rest of the day. When I say dry, I don't mean flaky, more of a tightness.

I have tried what seems like hundreds of moisturisers. The problem that I have found is that no matter what type of moisturiser I use, my skin immediately looks greasy and shiny. I'd say 90% of the moisturisers I've tried made my skin feel tingly and uncomfortable.

The only moisturiser that agrees with my skin is "Garnier Pure Long-lasting Shine control Sebum Contre". This is a mattifying moisturiser. The only problem with this moisturiser and every other mattifying moisturiser I have tried is that it leaves a residue in patches once applied. But for years I've learned to include removing the residue as part of my daily routine. It sucks and is time consuming but it's the only moisturiser that completely transforms my skin.

I'm always so scared to try new moisturisers because it's upsetting when you spend a fair amount on a product and it completely does not agree with your skin. It's a waste of money and hope. I've wasted a small fortune for sure.

I wish I could find a mattifying moisturiser that actually does just that but doesn't leave a patchy residue behind.

I've tried the simple range, just leaves the greasy look once applied. I use E45 on my hands and it really makes my hands greasy so I wouldn't dare put it on my face.

I've also tried the Loreal range for men, the mattifying gel stuff for ten quid a tube. The mattifying properties did not work at all. Again the gel peeled off in patches.

Somebody recommended a seaweed mattifying moisturiser sold by the body shop. Might give it a go, think its around the 7-10 quid price range.

If anybody can recommend a good mattifying moisturiser that they have had good experiences with please let me know!

Thanks for the heads up. Gave it a go and it works. Have to put a lot on though, and it is very greasy, so am using it as a night cream only at the moment. Hasn't broken me out yet (although it contains methylparaben which is a possible irritant) so am quietly confident it'll be ok (been using it for a week). Works out a lot cheaper than the moisturiser i was previously using (dermalogica intensive moisture balance which was about 15x more expensive!) Have been looking for ages for something to replace it. Have tried them all.. but nothing would work as well on my super dry & sensitive skin.
