is the ibruprofen gel much better than benzoyl peroxide as a spot treatment? Or not really? For me, there's no contest. If I put tea tree oil and ibuprofen on a new spot, it's gone in a few days. B...

Well, the (Sainsburies own make) ibuprofen I use contains propylene glycol, and this research proved that this combination (listed as F3) was not inert and was absorbed and was active over 2.5 hours, ...

According to this study, high dose oral ibuprofen alone has only a minor effect on acne. In combination with antibiotics, it's more effective. That is a lot of motrin, though. I can see you getting...

TTO is an oily substance that doesn't dissolve very well in water in my experience, but YMMV.   Also the topical ibuprofen is quite drying because it has alcohol in it, but if you add moisturiser...

It may not dissolve if it's truly oil free, but usually there's enough emulsifiers there to dissolve it.   How hard did you try to mix it? It will usually take a couple of minutes to go in. Somet...

It will take a few weeks.   You're using clindamycin though, you probably don't need the tea tree oil; JayQ. Tea tree oil is just to kill bacteria, but clindamycin does that.

Incidentally, I've got a new theory about how this works.   I think the ibuprofen acts as an anti-irritant, a pain killer.   What that means is that normally as a spot initially forms, it wi...

I'm glad it's working for you.   But it's nearly always a bad idea to use tea tree oil neat. Even if your skin tolerates it, it's cheaper to mix it, and there's much less chance of a reaction. &n...

Nah. AHA is an exfolliant, and has no anti-inflammatory effects at all. And it's not absorbed by the skin. I never noticed any stop-in-its-tracks effects with that.   BHA (i.e. salicylic acid) wo...

Provided you're not allergic to the menthol stuff shouldn't make any difference; it may even help kill bacteria and sooth the skin.

That should probably work. 10% kills a few more species of bacteria, but from the research I've seen 5% kills P.Acnes.

The point is you use it with ~10% strength diluted tea tree oil, which kills bacteria about as well as BP, but has less downsides; there's no 'breaking in period' and it's not drying at all.   Al...
