I'm new here and I need a little bit of advice. I am 17 and I have had moderate acne for at least seven (yes, seven) years. I am seeing a dermatologist for the second time ever in about a month. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what they think the dermatologist might perscribe me. I'm really hoping for Accutane. Below is a list of things I have tried that, for the most part, have not worked.

Oral Prescriptions:

Doxycycline
Tetracycline
Birth Control Pills (Alysena)

Topical Prescriptions:

Benzoyl Peroxide
Salicylic Acid
Tactuo
Clindoxyl (Tried three separate times)
Stevia-A (Tried three separate times)
Benzaclin
Differin

Holistic Approaches:

Lemon Juice
Salt
Baking Soda
Bananas
The "caveman regimen" (no products, only water)
Tea tree oil
Rubbing alcohol
Cod Liver Oil
No makeup

Face Washes/Products without Perscription:

Neutrogena (Multiple Types in excess of 4)
Proactive (Tried two separate times)
Oxy (Two Types: Acne Prone; Sensitive)
Bior© (Charcoal)
Avon
Clean and Clear (Multiple Types in Excess of 4)
Clearasil (Multiple Types in Excess of 4)
Glycolic Peels
Specto Gel

Health Changes:

No dairy
Exercise
Lots of water
Tea
Eating healthier
Meditating and stress relief strategies

Do you think I'll be perscribed Accutane?
Thanks!

It's very likely considering how persistent your acne has been for such a long time and the fact that it hasn't responded to several other topical or antibiotic treatments. Just bring it up with your doc and see what he says.
