How about Vitamin E Oil? It fades scars and redmarks? Helps healing too. Anyone tried it before?

I am a practicing dermatologist.AA Red scars after acne occur either from inflammation with dilated blood vessels as a part of that inflammation or due to early scar formation with dilated blood vessels.AA Topical medications do not work.AA Smoothbeam does not work (It is for atrophic scars).AA The best treatment is either pulsed dye laser or intense pulse light.AA Both of these procedures will go through the skin and destroy the dilated blood vessels.AA Tincture of time will also help.

I have to agree here, but IPL (intense pulsed light is better over Vbeam (pulsed dye laser) in my experience for hyperpigment and blood vessels disorders. I have had both. IPL machines vary and are very operater dependant. V-beam also is operator dependant but is a wonder in skilled hands esp. for tiny blood vessels . But for acneic pigment disorders IPL is much more effective. Just my two cents.

Also doctor have you had experience with Diacneal? Rentinaldehyde .1% and Glycolic acid 6%. This is giving good results for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation from acne, also proving to be helpful in acne control without p.acne resistance. This acts on melanin suppression. I don't think PIH is all about blood vessels, melanocytes play a part as well. But the best tx is IPL for sure, get it done and over with I say.

Can you get a treatment like this done on the British NHS?

Hi EJM,

"You are what you eat" :D I just find fresh made veg. juices (esp. with low glycemic index) are very beneficial for my skin health. I suggest cucumbers, bell papers, cabbage etc.

P.S. Wow! I made that post over 2 years ago... :surprised: time goes so fast... My update: I still use .1% Tretinoin and PureDeming Intense Gel on the daily basis. Prescription retinoids AND PureDeming Intense Gel are very powerful combination: Nothing made my skin as good as these two products. Plus high PPD, stable sunscreen of course. I don't use Boscia SPF15 anymore. I have learned that it offers very poor (if any) UVA protection. Now i use European sunscreens with PPD value at least 20+, ideally PPD 28-31.

Check out Skindinavia Akne Oil Pore. I used it for cystic acne, but read about it in Marie Claire to clear up redness asap. The stuff works wonders. It's at Ulta- but I usually buy it online.

Ok, so I just ordered the Intense Gel with the Jojoba Oil and the lactic acid mini peel. I'm excited because I've heard good things about this stuff, and I'm really looking forward to my marks fading (my complexion is very fair so these red marks are reallllllly noticable). Does anyone know how long it'll take to get here? Just ordered them today, live in Jersey if that helps.

I've heard this many times from numerous people but very few actually go through and post their pics. It's sad really because this forum is supposed to help others and some either clear up and never come back or they are unsatisfied with their progress and don't want to post any pics.

I'm really desperate about my skin. I have red marks on the skin for about 7 years. I cant stand it anymore. I am using cucumber juice on my face that someone had advised. I don't know if its the right thing to do. If anyone who has use this technique, please let me know. Thanks.

AcneFree, makers of a line of products similar to ProActiv (but so much more effective), have come out with a scar eraser. The Step 1 lotion has Hydroquinone and Oxygen-Peptide A, and the Step 2 lotion is just a moisturizer with Vitamin E. I use the Step 1 lotion, but I use instead of the moisturizer that came with it I use Dove Face Care with Vitamins A, E, B5, Zinc, and Green Tea Extract. Works pretty good after only a few days.

1.Puredeming Intense gel - a serum that is applied daily for approx. 1 hour, contains high quality natural ingredients that will improve skin condition and help with healing, in particular alpha lipoic acid and DMAE which have been cited as helping to reduce red marks and very shallow scarring. Available here: Puredeming

Here is a thread containing info about the intense gel: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php...topic=15937&hl=

2. Lactic acid peels - a relatively gentle form of AHA acid peel, which helps remove dead skin cells, thereby improving skin tone. They may, over time, help reduce very shallow scarring, and can be extremely effective on diminishing red marks. Available here Puredeming, and, for stronger versions, here: Logan wood skincare

Here is a thread containing useful info: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php...&hl=lactic+acid

3. Copper peptides products - help with skin healing and promote collagen production. Especially useful when combined with a procedure such as skin needling or microdermabrasion. There are several different varieties that vary in intensity, although the more intense versions can be more likely to cause acne breakouts. Available here: Skin Biology

Here is a thread containing more info: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php...copper+peptides

4= Emu oil - a natural oil extracted from the fat glands of emus that have been killed for their meat. It is, therefore a by product - emus are not killed to produce the oil. It contains high amounts of essential fatty acids and vitamin E and is therefore beneficial for skin healing. It is good as an overall moisturiser as it is very non-comedogenic. Has reduced redness in scars for some people. Also, it is a carrier oil and may increase efficiacy of other products such as BP and manuka oil when applied after these. - Available here: Ebay

Here is a thread: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php...topic=19181&hl=

4= Manuka Honey products - again, helps with skin healing and is very antibacterial and antifungal, therefore guarding against future breakouts. Manuka OIL is even more potent. Manuka honey and oil are both available in a variety of products but the one most highly recommended is Living nature's Manuka oil and honey gel. Available here: Living Nature and here: Comvita

5= Smoothbeam - not technically a 'product', it is a form of non-ablative laser which many members have undergone with moderate to excellent success. There is more information in the FAQ.

5= jojoba oil - like emu oil, a non-comedogenic natural moisturiser derived from the liquid wax of the jojoba nut. Contains high amounts of vitamin E, thereby beneficial for skin healing. It may help with healing red marks, but has very little effect on scarring, however.

5= C+C blackhead clearing scrub - helps exfoliate skin thereby improving skin texture and red marks. May, over time, help reduce some very shallow scarring.

5= TCA complex products - a more intense form of acid peel, TCA peels come with a significant downtime, unlike lactic acid or glycolic acid peels. However, they can be much more effective on red marks and shallow scarring. For deeper scarring, the CROSS method of applying 100% TCA can be effective. However, it is recommended that this is performed by a doctor. More information is contained in the FAQ.

Howcome Apple Cider Vinegar is not mentioned, I read everywhere on this forum that is very effective on red marks?
