Hey everyone,
I've been struggling with some skin issues (for years) and I'm feeling a bit lost. I've consulted with two dermatologists, each providing different opinions, and I'm still unsure about what's going on with my skin.
I've attached a photo of my cheek for reference. The raised bumps can barely be seen unless under certain lighting conditions.
One dermatologist suggested that it might be milia and recommended freezing them off, which I went ahead with. However, this procedure left some new scarring, which I wasn't expecting. The other dermatologist mentioned the possibility of it being acne but didn't seem too concerned, suggesting RF Microneedling as a potential solution.
I've been using tazarotene and azelaic acid for about a month now, but I'm not seeing much improvement. It's frustrating, to say the least.
I'm reaching out to the community here for any advice or insights you might have. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any recommendations on how to proceed or alternative treatments I could explore? I appreciate any input you can provide!
It looks like it could be:
1. acne cosmetica: This is acne caused by makeup. It can take several months to show up and seemingly come about "out of the blue" when really it's just makeup that's been affecting and clogging pores. If you suspect it's this, you just need to stop using whatever makeup you're using.
2. acne mechanica: When you scrub your face hard with a washcloth or something like that and do it often, you can get bumps like this. If you suspect it's this, start washing maximum twice a day and only with bare hands and for 10 seconds or less. Be ultra gentle when washing.
3. non-inflamed regular acne: If it's non-inflamed acne, it's just annoying because it can take a long time to get rid of. The Regimen works best from anything I've ever tried, with the addition of AHA (glycolic acid) after a month.
Or yeah, perhaps milia.
