I started using Isotretinoin like 3 months ago, and 2 days ago i started noticing some hairs falling and some eyebrow hairs falling too, I really want to block whatever makes this, I heard that it is because it changes the hairs cycle to telogen effluvium, I really want to solve this, i accept any solution including pharmacology!! I'm just very desperate
I've normally read that hair loss from iso is temporary, but in reality, I'm not sure anybody really knows. I'd ask your doc for advice on this. But overall, I've never heard a huge amount of long-term hair loss issues from it. But that's obviously just one person's experience.
Hey Joao -
I've done 2 rounds of Accutane across twenty years. The first time, I felt nothing other than dryness, but I experienced a whole host of symptoms the second time.
Unfortunately, there's no way around what you're experiencing if that's how the Accutane is affecting you. It's just a series of trade-offs and you have to take a chance on it based on a calculus you don't fully understand while you're in it. In the end, it's a matter of - a) how bad is your acne, and b) how badly do you want your acne to go away, given that isotretinoin is the most powerful weapon we have today?
Alas, there's no silver bullet that will fix telogen effluvium while taking Accutane. Just stay as hydrated and moisturized as you possibly can and ride the rollercoaster. It'll end eventually. Hair loss while on Accutane is *supposed* to be temporary, but keep in mind that even after finishing, it could take about 18 months or more for the growth to come back, so be patient.
In my case, the texture of my hair also changed - it got kind of curvy, kinky, and unruly. I'm almost a year post Accutane, and have had to learn how to style it, what new products to use, and to tell my stylist to leave more weight to deal with the frizz.
Them's the breaks, I'm afraid. Good luck.
