Day one of starting Isotretinoin, im so nervous. I have been put on 20mg due to depression in the past and i am terrified it will get worse on these. If anyone out there has any advice or wants to help in my journey, it would be very appreciated. Im 28 and have acne since i was 7. After all these years they are finally trying Isotretinoin which i am hoping will work as my acne is horrible and i cant keep living like this. My self confidence is 0 and i just want to feel normal. Thanks to anyone reading and will keep you updated on how it goes 🤞🤞🤞

I know starting accutane can feel overwhelming, but as you can see from all our other posts, you're definitely not alone. Many members here have shared their journeys, so I'd recommend checking out past posts for reassurance and tips (you can find them here: https://www.acne.org/forums/36-accutane-isotretinoin-logs) Everyone's experience with accutane is a little different, but it can really help to see how others managed their ups and downs. Please keep us posted on how things go for you... we are rooting for you!

Thats a big step, and it makes sense to feel nervous. A lot of people do experience an adjustment period in the first few weeks, both with side effects and mentally, so its good youre aware of that and starting on a lower dose. Staying in touch with your dermatologist about any mood changes or physical side effects will really help. Many find it useful to keep a little journal of how theyre feeling and what changes they notice, so you have something concrete to share at checkups. Make sure you stay on top of moisturizing and lip balm, too, since dryness usually kicks in pretty quickly.
