Thanks Temple,

I know exactly what you mean. Going back to work yesterday was a shock to me, but I was a lot more focused today. Even in this rediculous makeup, I still have responsibilities to fulfill and worlds to save.

My scarring were not critical until 3 years ago. Since then, I have learned to be more sensitive to people's misfortune.

Facing onslaughts of starers will take it to another level. I hope I shall learn to ignore negative influence, and concentrate on reaching my goals.

And yes I am Chinese.

Regards,

Sword

Sword, I want to tell you that you look great. You have been such an inspiration for me. I go to New Orleans on March 14th to have my dermabrasion done on the 15th. I had my husband who has not looked at any pictures of this procedure, sit down and look at your pics. He thought it looked painful, but he thought your results were fantastic. Happy Healing

...ok guys, what's wrong with going to work with a red face?...i mean they knew u took a holiday right?...maybe people r just talking about how fried u got from the sun cool.gif .....i guess my main concern when going back to work would be that i had minimum swelling....since i don't wear make-up as a rule, i would probably only use it to blend in the demarkation line only.

My dermabrasion is next month. Seeing your dermabrasion photos has given me hope. Your skin looks really really good. I am so happy for you.

I am going to see Dr. Y. for the first time tomorrow for punch floats. I can't wait to meet this man since I have heard nothing but great things about him.

Hey EHGirl,

Let's just say:

1. It is too red and uniform to look like a sun tan without cover up, even for gals.

2. Guys who don't usually wear makeup looks weird when they do. More then one asked and I quote "What's Wrong with your face?".

I don't think you have to worry about swelling if you give yourself 14 days to recover.

Regards,

Sword

Hey Perfect,

The pictures does not capture the icepicks / scarred pores that I still have, although overall depth and size ** appears ** to have improved (check again in 6 months).

Good luck to your punch floats! If you can, show Cassandra how to navigate this website! Please give my regards to the good Doctor and Cassandra!!

Sword

Sword,

Just browse via all your pics, the changes are quite dramatic i must say... but when i was looking at your pre-derm treatment, i couldn't notice any major scars on your face....(at least on the screen) i think i'm wrose than yours, and you had to go throught that expensive and painful treatment for, what i only can tell, such minor improvement ??

i'm still not sure whether i should do this....i mean the scars bother me, but not that much, well at least i need to control my emotion and not letting the scars ruin my life. i need to focus on things that are more important at this point.

All my friends say it's no big deal. but people still starring at my scars and give me funny look...

Hey Temple,

Good point but consider this:

1. Because of good lighting, the pre derm picture captured only 40% - 50% of the actual scar depth. Under normal / bad lighting, they looked a lot more shady and worse.

2. You read about my bad experience with micro-derm (at another clinic) and smoothbeam with Bargman, right? Well the micro-derms made my icepick scars wider, and gave me scarred pores I did not have before. Before that I was mildly scarred and did not bother me as much. The smooth beam made all scars deeper, and made overall skin saggy and look burned. ** So far **, these damage seem to have disappeared in the new skin. My face looks plum again, which I have not seen since the smoothbeam. Cassandra described this as mini face lift, which is a bonus I did not expect. Read portlandboy's post and you will see similar findings too.

3. The red-face recovery pics are not meant to show improvement in size of depth of scars anyway. The face is so red, it very hard for the camera to capture such details. Instead, I mean to show the healing process in terms of swelling and color. When the redness is gone, I shall post close up pics in better resolutions. I'll try to dig up a "better" pre scar pics too ...

Give it time buddy, I shall give assessment as objectively as I can.

Sword

did dr. bargman give you medication to pre-treat your skin one-month before the smoothbeam..?? he hold me i need it because i'm asian, otherwise the smoothbeam wouldn't work.

when i told him over the phone i wanted to cancell the treatment, he sounded pretty mad....eventhough he's keeing the deposite.

p.s. i have a feeling that now he's aware about this message borad.

when typing his name on Google his name will show up under our discussion....damn should have check him out before giving him a dime

No prescription. 200 cash upfront, right at the examination room. 300 cash on site.

I believe the culpit was improper cooling. He said he developed / adopted a cooling device which was basically a handheld fan. I vividly remember every zap hurted. I think "cooked" was the best way to describe my skin after the smoothbeam. Round icepick scars / scar pores were elongated and distorted, treated area were blistered for months. Instead of correcting the damage caused by the microderms, the smoothbeam made it much worse.

You can always make the money back, but you did the right thing to cancel when your had doubts.

Temple,

Ironically, I found out about Dr. B here. I signed a waiver on the day of SB. After that I was too depressed to engage an argument with him, blaming myself for not doing enough research, I just wanted my pre SB skin back.

Anyway that's all in the past. Right now I just feel I have a new lease on life. smile.gif

Just a post for support. Your skin seems to be healing really well. With the makeup the redness isn't noticeable and it will fade! It looks like areas around your sideburns and jawline have faded a lot. I bet it's hard to imagine ever not being red right now...but if you think about it, two and half months isn't a very long time at all.

Best,

Kim

PS. You are quite handsome...well from what I can tell from a picture with boxes over your lips and eyes. smile.gif

Post Op Day 18

Pics updated.

Face tone becomes a darker red, is this normal?? Please note my normal skin is darker than Leafsfan's.

On the left cheek (your right that is) there is a slight trace of hyperpigment. In 7 days if it gets worse I shall tri-luma it.

Its been hell of a week, I'm just glad I can recoup for 2 days. After reading recent posts respectively by 9 weeks and post 6 months dermabraders, I am further convinced there is no point to gauge improvement at this point. I'm too busy trying to live a normal life with the redness anyway.

Have a great weekend Everyone.

Regards,

Sword

kwi, glad to hear you're healing well and in great spirit! biggrin.gif

How's the weather in New York? It is so dry and cold up here, the 2nd day I got off vaseline I started peeling like mad, so I went back and stayed on vaseline for couple more days.

As we learn from dermabrasion people before us, that it will take 2 to 3 months to completely heal, and even longer for final results to show. During this period your life style will be somewhat affected. I keep reminding myself 2 -3 months is a short time, and try to keep myself busy with other things in life.

If you are a make-up noob like me (I believe you are a girl, but just in case I am wrong), try to find help from people who know how, or like me, stop caring about stares from co-workers / strangers because in 6 months they will have new things to gossip about, and its none of their business anyway. In fact after 1 week of conditioning I feel invincible now. razz.gif In 6 months I shall laugh at the make-up advice I gave (read my posts from last week) with my close friends!!

Let me know if you have questions during the healing phase, I shall answer them the best I can although I am only 2 weeks ahead of you.

Take care and TTYL!

Regards,

Sword

kwi,

You are brave and I admire that eusa_clap.gif . I forgot exactly when, eventually the whitish raw pink settled into a red, which is more pronounced IMO.

Regards,

Sword

as far as make up goes ( yes, i am a girl ) actually i am not even planning on putting on any makeup to conceal my redness.

to my eyes, i think i just look like i had a sunburn, i know probably to others, i may look horrible, but that doesn't bother me.

Yeah I am also Asian, Chinese. My demabrasion is schedule for March 28. As my date get close I am getting a wee bit apprehensvie about the procedure. Despite the complications that I read from another thread posted by Love and Kooky I will go through with it. Since I hate stranger gawking at me I have decide to drive to New Orleans from NYC and back. Where do you get the make up to cover the pinkness?

Hi Kwi,

I live in Bensonhurst Brooklyn. There is a Shiseido in Brooklyn Chinatown on 8th ave. But I think I am going to visit the one south of K-Town in Manhattan on 5th ave. I will be too embarrassed if I run into the sale lady on the street.

Yeah my heart is set on driving. It is about 20 hours drive give or take. I can take detour to visit the Corvette Museum in Bowling Hill KY, the Jack Daniel distillery in Lynchburg TN and may Graceland in MemphisAaas TN. This is a vacation not just for demabrasion. I took 3 weeks off from work and spending a week in New Orleans. If I am going to look freaky I want to have some fun doing it.

Kwi,

Girl you are funny. Shopping around for make up is something that my sisters enjoy. Yoo...Steven does this shade of red lip stick matches the color of my car. I just want to get in and get out as quickly as possible with the make up. Although I might have to ask the sale lady to show me how to apply the make so I don't end up looking like Bozo the circus clown. When time comes I will ask you for more advice privately. Many thanks for the tips!!!
