This doesn't sound very reassuring but thanks anyway. I'll know what to expect.

How did u get on?

It went quite well, better than I expected-no infection, no hamster cheeks, no lumps, moderate bruising.

He started with the rolling, which was more painful than the previous sessions I had had back home, even with the Emla cream on. I could literally feel my skin pulsating for a few minutes afterwards. Then he subcised two fingernail big areas with deeper scars, the one of them was a cluster of scars as he said. Finally he applied the 100 % TCA on maybe 10 to 15 icepicks on each cheek. Some of them were scarred pores actually, but it's ok.

I recover very fast from the procedures. It's day 5 and the redness is gone and right now I have only the scabs from the TCA CROSS, but they are starting to fall off gradually. My skin doesn't look normal yet, but it is definately ok. I have like a light sun burn and it is a bit yellow on the subcised areas.

I have booked my next appointment in October while I am still on a break from the university but I wonder if it's not too early(2months between) because I read here that the improvement from the CROSS method goes into the third month as well and it is better to have patience.

Now I'll just have to wait and see what happens with my skin in the next 2 months, if it was worth it.

I remember you having the same procedures done by Prof. Dr. Chu. How is it coming along for you?

Scabs started to form on the second morning, 36-40 hours after the procedure.

Wow my skin looks so smooth right now, so plumped up that no scars are visible. But this is just the microswelling :(

hey, nice that it went well for you ...... I still have some small pimples left but to do this treatment as soon as I'm ready. can you please continue to tell how it goes. Most people here quit writing when they are done so you can never know how it went :/

I have had cross and dermaroller done a few times but not subscision, definately seen improvement in scar visibility ie they look much softer and smaller but i think more treatments are needed.

I am going to try push for a subcision and cross combo going forward

Are you getting your treatments privately?

Yes I am getting the treatments privately. As I did at home in Germany too. Here the health insurance does not cover the expenses for aesthetic procedures.Unfortunately! But I hope it is worth it.

Probably it is still the microswelling(8th day), but my skin still looks very good, the scars reappeared but are less deep I think. The scabs have fallen off and indeed the indents look a little wider, but I expected that. The two subcised areas haven't sunken back in yet!!! :) But I'll wait two weeks before I make the definite assessment. Next time I would probably ask him to subcise more of my rolling scars, not just the deeper ones, because only with dermarolling I haven't seen dramatic improvement so far and this was my 6th session.I had had 5 sessions (dermarolling only) back in Germany.

If you have rolling scars, you can definately try subcision too. An area of my face was treated with all three procedures and it was ok afterwards, I had no problems. How long did the microswelling last for you after the roller?

On Monday I had my second procedure on scar reduction with Dr. Chu. He only did the Dermaroller on cheeks and forehead and TCA Cross on a few deeper icepicks this time because I have to recover completely by next Monday. So unfortunately I didn't get subcision.

From the two areas he subcised the first time one has elevated a little bit and it does look smoother, the other one developed a lump 2 weeks after the procedure, that still persists. It is not visible, but I can feel it when i run my fingers over it. Dr. Chu didn't inject anything in it, said that it should not bother me and that it would go away on its own. He assumed that it must have been a deep imflammatory cyst and I think that he could be right because at the time I was under a lot of stress and did get some mild inflammation.

Overall I am satisfied with the results so far. I know it is a slow process. These is maybe 10-15% improvement from the first precedure. Nothing dramatic, but definately visible to me and other people. My family swears that my right cheek where most of my scars are looks a lot better, but I am not so sure about it. I haven't been paying much attention to my scars lately because I have been comsumed in exams and to be honest I haven't done much to help with the skin regeneration after the first treatment. Now I am determined to make everything right with a healthy vitamin rich diet, lots of sleep, excercise, positive attitude and various topicals, the LED therapy.

The next appointment is in February.I am hopeful to see more improvement by then.

Can anyone give me some insight in what is so special about Dr. Chu? I haven't heard about him before, but seeing him being discussed like this I wonder what it is :)

Well, you may want to use the search function on this board and find out for yourself what the hype is all about. There is a number of accounts by former patients of his.

I personally decided to go see and have my scars treated by him mainly because of the vast experience with acne and acne scarring he's gathered over the years. Proven techniques such as subcision or TCA CROSS are routine procedures for him. That is very very important to me! I would never risk having applied 100% acid on my face by someone who performs the procedure once in a blue moon, regardless of how good a doctor he could be otherwise.

I saw gradual improvements. I saw him 3 times and each time I had subcision, dermaroller and TCA Cross. He's a really nice guy and he's passionate about his work.

I think the key is patience as the treatments he offers requires repeated treatments and he doesn't offer any aggressive treatments like dermabrasion or the co2 laser.

up for a third treatment in two days. very excited and motivated especially after yesterday my cosmetition noted unexpectedly and totally unasked for that now there is definately a visible improvement of my scars. she haden't seen my skin in two months and always used to say before that the change had been only slight. Maybe it is true it does take time to see the difference. this motivates me to go through the whole ordeal with the combi treatment, the travelling once again.

The NHS pays for scar treatments? I expect they would go bankrupt if they paid for purely cosmetic procedures like that.

Nah, he doesn't. Treatments I know he does perform: subcision, dermapen (with PRP), TCA cross. Might not be an exhaustive list, but I know he does those.

Hi all!

As the title suggests I would like to know if Prof Tony Chu is still seeing patients as I fear he may have retired? I would like to see him about acne scarring, specifically rolling acne scars - so I'm assuming subcision?

Can anyone shed some light on what his private fees are? For things like the consultation and treatments such as you would expect for rolling scars.

Or just fees for things like this in general in the UK.

I will be grateful for any help you can give me.

Thanks

Hi Higgs141
Yes, Prof Chu still practices at Hammersmith. He has clinics on Tuesdays for dermapen/subcision/PRP/ PDO threads etc. and also some Saturday mornings.
Hope this helps.

Hello, I am due see Dr Sangeeta Punjabi next week after a long and protracted battle to get a referral on the NHS after a serious case of Shingles down the right side of my face, which left horrific scars. Has anyone had a consultation with her?, as I thought I was to see Dr Chu, but informed he is only part time now.

checking in here as i inadvertantly posted misleading information in another thread. i had tca cross done by professor chu at hammersmith hospital 17 days ago now. early on i thought i had made remarkable progress, especially on the main scar (narrow boxcar on the tip of the nose). turned out that some of the '85%' fill-in i mentioned was actually the scab, which hung on in there for 16 days (without being really visible). fell off yesterday leaving the same indent- but happily, there is definite progress, i would say maybe 30%. the scar may be a little wider (i was warned this could happen) but certainly flatter, and the edges seem less sharp. so all in all im pleased.
the downtime for this procedure is a drag - i peeled a lot- but worth it to me. with luck i should see further collagenisation in the coming weeks, and i have another visit scheduled for early january. i do feel confident that this will get me the results i want, but just wanted to warn that it takes commitment and that those who see instant results seem to be very much the exception.
best wishes

To post an honest review is very good of you, especially as many on here seem to be interested in the TCA cross method. Although maybe not as much progress as you first thought you had at least you do have progress which I am sure gives you hope for future procedures. I really hope you get the out come you wish for.
