QuanHenry - I am really pleased to hear you think your Derminator treatments are making a difference.
May I ask if you did anything differently the second time around - or did you pretty much repeat what you did the first time? If you could describe to us what you did that would be great. Thanks.
Presumably, you have a 3rd treatment lined up for 6 weeks after the last one - so if you do decide to up the needle length, how will this effect your time between treatments? Will you be looking to maintain the same timescale or allow a couple of weeks extra between sessions?

I basically did the same thing, but I went up to 1mm on the temples this time. I wanted to make sure everything went ok with my first couple sessions to get the idea of how it worked before getting more aggressive.
When I do my cheeks, I stretch out the skin by pushing my mouth to the other side and make 3 passes with circles like in the sarah vaughtner video. Then I stamp over top the worst scars for good measure.
6 weeks seems good for now, Ill have to reevaluate after my next treatment since Ill be going to 2mm. I cant say I know this for sure, but it makes sense to let the new collagen grown stronger before doing a new session.
I got some good news financially today and Ill have no trouble paying for a subcision with filler treatment. Ill probably do it this winter or next spring at the latest.
I feel like my scars improve most somewhere between the start of the third week and end of week 4 after a session. The first week is microswelling, the second week is back to where it was, and weeks 3 and 4 is where I see the biggest change day to day. Its still a drops in the bucket of what I want to accomplish, but Ive noticed this with both of my sessions. Beyond week 4 I see less day to day change. Anyone else notice this?
I just finished my third session. I kicked it up to 2.0mm on the fleshy part of my cheeks this time and had more blood than I did with 1.5. I seem to be a little more swollen too. I cant believe its already been over 3 months since I started.
I saw this case study of needling/tca combo treatment the other day that I thought was interesting, http://www.jcasonline.com/article.asp?issn=0974-2077;year=2014;volume=7;issue=1;spage=18;epage=23;aulast=Garg
I was thinking, would it be better to dermastamp your scars first with a regular dermastamp en then do the whole area with the derminator?
It just sounds right to me to do it that way. But the question is, how many times do you stamp and how many passes do you do with the derminator?
Thanks guys for all the info here on this on thread!
I know where my worst scars are, and I dont get enough swelling to cover them up entirely anyway. When I say I "stamp" over my worst scars I still use the derminator. I dont own a separate stamping device. I put the needles on those spots and let it hammer away for a couple seconds on the fastest setting, and then do a little circle in the area.
I dont know that my technique is best, but I like it.
Do you do your derminatorsessions with or without numbing cream?
I'll start off with 1.0 on the cheeks. Since there is no one time fix, there is no reason not to start slowly Will do 1.0 for a couple of times and after that i use the 1.5 length. I plan to take vitamin c everyday and just eat and drink healthy. If you do that, i personally think you don't need all those vitamin/mineral supplements. I also order rosehip oil to use that everyday. I told myself i will do this all at least 2 years and after that i will see what i'm going to do next.
It is good to have plan instead of just being hopeless and not know what to do
Yeah I use a lidocaine cream. I leave it on for about 45-60 minutes before my session. Then I wash it off thoroughly with cetaphils gentle cleanser, dry, and then apply rubbing alcohol before needling. Rosehip oil is good stuff. I use it every night, but dont expect it to fill in scars. I think it helps my overal skin tone better than the other natural oils Ive tried.
I think needling, like everything else, is just a piece of the puzzle to scar treatments. Its great being able to do something at home with no down time inbetween professional treatments.
Just started stamping my scars w the derminator and this sh*t is painful. Started off w 1.0 though. Hopefully I'll get to turn it up to 2.0 after the third treatment. Was just wondering how long do each of you use your needle cartridges? Like, when do we know when to get rid of the cartridge we're using? Haha.

I use a new cartridge every time too. Theyre only $4 so its worth the peace of mind that you shouldnt get infected. Pain isnt much of an issue to me, but to a new user I can see how it would be. It feels like plucking an eyebrow to me, whereas fraxel felt like a scalpel dragging across the skin.
Ahh! Noted. Might have to use a new one for the next session, shame I only ordered two 9 needle cartridges. And I'm currently residing in one of the banned countries. Oh well, might get a friend to forward them to me.
I'm needling a huge part of my body (arms, shoulders, back, sides, tummy, thighs, face etc) for many different types of scars. And it takes days, for a couple of hours a day. So the aftermath is just unbearable, feels like I have blisters all over. The process isn't that painful though, just tedious and annoying.
Thanks for the advice! I do use hospital grade antibacterial washes before the procedure and sterilise the skin w alcohol as well. And wash the skin again + dry it and change clothes. What do you guys do to prevent infections after needling/stamping?
