I live in the Canada. UnfortunatelyInfadolan is not shipped anymore. I was using that ointment for my previous dema sessions which worked great. What is a good alternative to that?

@455025_1443952507A pure or as simple as possible HA serum is fine. I actually think the Infaolan is pointless and often don't recommend it. It can break out more people than not. Your skin will close up within 24 hrs, then you can put whatever you want, including skin care.

Thanks. If I want to do a chemical peel a following month after needling. Which one do you recommend, considering I'm a first timer?

@455025_1443952507Glycolic is fine to start with. Read the peal guide, it's pinned to the main scar treatments sub.

I got my derminator last week, did a thourough 1 pass with 1mm on cheeks/temple and 0.5 mm on forehead/front of face.

2 days later I am already recovered, a little redness looks like I've been out in the sun too long.

In 1 month if I get a chance between my treatments I would like to do 1.5mm, 3 passes on my cheek and temple scars, but streching the skin hard with medical tape and pressing down with a little more force. I will still stick to 0.5 on my forehead and front of face, where I have no scarring.

Can't wait.

I have a question.

Are the needle cartridges from the derminator sterile? Anddo we need to still soak them in alcohol?

Can't edit my previous post. I just want to add that I intend to only use needle cartridges once.

AND I now see on owndoc they tell you to sterilize with a substance. Can we actually truly sterilize those needles at home and are the neddles at the doctors office actually sterile or just disinfected?

@SaraTheGermanThe needles are completly sterile in the package. You only use dish soap and a tooth brush / alcohol if you want to sterile them for use again.

I believe the edit function is not working right now, ... I told the Admin's that.

The substance Owndoc says is for further use of the needles after one time, ... your skin is a different matter and must be sterilized before treatment.

Dr's offices use much higher methods of sterilization with devices to clean instruments, but they would never reuse microneedle needles. IT does not make since from a labor standpoint. Now since it's only for you then you may do it, 2 or 3 times, if you do it too many time there is he issue with sterility and with blunt needles hurting and possible damage.

Thank you for responding!

So since I only intend to use them once I just use them straight out of the package and disinfect skin with alcohol?

1) I had some RF microneedling procedures done at a plastic surgeon's office and was able to tolerate it well with lidocaine. Do you think I could start with 1.5 on my face or should I stick to 0.5 for now?

2) Has anyone tried dermarolling bacne scars/hyperpigmentation? Because I have a crapton of them and no doctor I've talked to has been willing to treat it besides giving me hydroquinone and retin-a (actually my first derm suggested I get a back tattoo...).

@aspirinSorry RF needling has nothing to do with this post, rf needling is like a laser, ... microneedling is manual. Your Dr whould know the depth to go with rf needling, otherwise they will mess up your face. You need to goto someone very experienced. .5 seems to shallow for rf needling.

Dermarolling alone on body scars will not fix hyperpigmenatation or bacne. You can do it as a at home treatment. Some also peel, use topicals... the most effective is co2 laser and steriod. Your going to general dermatologists, ... you need a aesthetics clinic or med spa.

Sorry to resurrect an oldthread, how do you minimise pain when using the derminator. Does anyone know where in the UK one can buy the numbing creams used by aesthetic clinics?

I came across this study, I'm always on the look out for the answer to rid these scars.

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/jocd.12827

I couldn't find how often apart the peels and the dermaroller treatments were? (in group 3) Can anyone help?

It may just be me and lack of concentration but this looked hopeful.

I believe you are the most interested in Group III.

I quote : "All patients received six sessions with 2week intervals. [...] Group III: Patients in this group were treated with dermapen and GA 35% every 2week interval for six sessions alternating with each other."

Group III basically got 3 sessions of dermapen and 3 sessions of GA-Peel, alternating every 2 weeks. The other two groups received 6 sessions of either dermapen or GA-Peel.

Hope this helps.

This study is a little suspicioustho.

@Cazzzed7I frankly do not know why people do this type of thing. They push treating to often, they expect mega - multi - modality treatments, they think they will magically make their scars disappear. This is a marathon not a race. What could is rushing. That study has been in our library for years now. It's a thesis. What is a it's a idea. You try to prove your opinion. You kick out all the poor healers, those who do not respond well, and those who do not meet your end goal. Now you will have micro swelling and people go crazy for this thinking it's magical, this is not long lasting healing. You tell me does it sound like a good idea to jack hammer your face every 2 weeks. I have patients who do this, ... PM me and freak out saying their face is ruined, large pores, all that. The first thing I say to them is STOP! You only get one face. We are not stripping off paint or jack hammering the road. Collagen is extremely extremely slow to heal. All the sensitivity, healing issues, redness, complaints, are mostly from treating to often with a Dr or over treating at home. .5mm microneedling can be done more often, but does very little for scars. Most people only needle 1mm to 1.5mm once a month, we have data proving this as well(general healing of wounds). Regarding peels unless your using a light toner the treatment time needs to be one month apart. OF course you can experiment and do whatever you wish to your skin.

Dr's can sometimes get away with treating more often or doing something more aggressive, why, steroids, patient selection of those who heal quickly - well(not most acne scar patients), or they spot treat only the scar. Your Chemical Peel's will never be the quality of a Dr's medical grade compounded peels. If you have time to be Red and have ongoing PIE and hyperpigmentation be my guest. Notice the study has B&A pics, not during this treatment and what is endured. IF you have the time and can hide from the world non-stop then maybe this is the treatment for you;-) , for everyone else please allow healing time.

NEVER needle or peel on fresh or raw wounds.

@IceicebabyFind someone in another EU country who has a topical anesthetic, have them mail it to you.

ICE - freeze the skin.

Goto a tattoo place and see if they will sell you some.

Used the derminator for the first time last night after doing 5sessions of a Dr. Pen cheap chinese dermapen. The derminator felt like it's working better but I will wait till a few weeks to see results. I didn't feel like I had any improvement at all from the 5 dermapen sessions, so I'm not fully convinced yet of microneedling. My scars are shallow and textural, so only in indirect lighting can I see how bad they are.

How long after microneedling can I resume tretinoin?

I completely agree with @beautifulambition. Be very careful with any type of treatment even if they're labeled as non invasive or non ablative as our body could work differently to heal in different period of times as well. i have friends who go to clinics and dermatologists that somehow told them to do needling and/or laser weekly or in every 10days. i've already suspected microswelling. so what they see in initial result could be said an illusion (of the microswelling). what's happened next is the clinic becomes very famous because everyone seem to get instant result. from years of going to other clinicswith no improvement and within seconds going to this clinic to see immediate result. once the treatment stops, not only the skin is going back to its previous state, there are more scars added such as pinholes. Please let your skin heals. treating scars does taketime and the more patience you are , the more likely to see results without causing more harm. I, myself was burnt by Fraxel before. Thanks GOD for forumslike this that I got the better knowledge of not doing anything rash to further complicate the burnt. I went to other derm who prescribed me with gentle type of retinol then it took a full year for the skin to transform. it did not go back to its initial state but still all those criss cross, indentations and pinholes majority are gone. i could not fathom if i went for other laser treatment within that year. most likely it'd make it worse.

after i got burnt by Fraxel, i'm also aware of anything labeled as FDA approved or clinical trials as shown above. those trials as beautifulambition said only involve very few people within certain demographic. For example, Asians bornt in US is different with Asians bornt in asian countries. our diets are even different already not to mention climate, water, air etc. so please understand your skin first before jumping to any type of treatment. Understanding your own skin is the first and the foremost IMHO. FDA involvesa lot of investors money and lobbying (including politicians) so go figure. once it's FDA approved, the cost would jump as high as twice of other similar treatments. I'd normally choose another treatment using similar technology and i always pay attention on the Origin of the manufacturer. sometimes the result is even better than FDA approved ones.

Can microneedling help with PIE redness? I've got a stubburn PIE mark which looks like a red freckle for the last 9 months. Hasn't lightened whatsoever despite using so many creams. I don't want to make it worse.

Everything...Laser,Microneedling ect is used to damage the skin and hopefully stimulate collagen. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that.I use a home microneedling kit. It helps my appearance by tightening it for awhile.

I've been microneedling while on accutane. My skin scarred easily before and after accutane all the same. It doesn't seem to make things worse or better so far. I guess I'll give any updates here when appropriate.

Hi all,

I had professional microneedling on my forehead a few weeks ago at 0.5mm (to the scar). Haven't seen any improvement yet.

I did have some pinpoint bleeding and keen to ask for 0.75mm next time, though my nurse seemed reluctant to increase the depth when I asked about this.

My question is whether I need to go deeper seeing as I had bleeding at 0.5?

Thanks.

PTAA

from what i know you shouldn't needle whilst on accutane since it could affect the healing process

Jwebs91

I'm about to do dermastamping with my derm next week but from what i read the forehead could go up to 1mm. 0.5mm is normally not deep enough for scar revision. It's mainly for skin rejuvenation. But please discuss back with your therapist. Perhaps she feels your skin is on the thinner and/or sensitivespectrum thus, the shorter needle. How long is her experience in the field as well? I've read once in a forum a new therapist used2mm needle on skin that only needs rejuvenation and caused permanent damage so if your therapist is new and she goes slow, it's for the better i guess
