hey delna i just wanted to let u know that, it works great! my skin looks fresh and just supple and nice! and that was only my first time using it too!......like i said i dont really have bad red marks, only some on my forehead, but i do have a lil active acne right now.....but for the most part im really clear right now, kinda strange.....but i definately noticed a difference in my skin.....and im just so happy that someone finally got smart about using gentle stuff, and im just so happy that so many people r tryin it, and its working, thats just so cool.....because that means we're not damaging our skin anymore with all those harsh acne products!

and fantasy clover.....i also use differin cream and it works great, and i also think that it works just like a moisturizer.....its good stuff lol

and matt- i would stop the tanning, i used to be exactly like u.....cuz i used to use the BP and it would bleach my skin and so i would go tanning to make it look normal.....but really its just so bad for ur skin, and it was difficult for me to do cuz all my friends tan like crazy and they look orange now.....but i stopped tanning 2 years ago, and it was right when i stopped using BP, and switched to gentle soap-free soaps.....either cetaphil or purpose.....and i started using differin cream, i was also on minocylin though, but i saw the most tremendous change in my skin....it was beautiful again, cuz i had my natural color back....and it looked wonderful cuz it didn't look fake like all my other friends did.....ill admit, it took a few weeks, maybe even a few months, for my skin to really go back to normal.....but its totally worth it, and it just shows u how irritating that stuff is.....i think delna plan is great, and it will work wonders for ur skin if u stop tanning! good luck!!

sorry so long guys! ill talk to ya later

Delna you are a star!!!

I have been following this method for 2 weeks and I have seen a major improvement with red marks left from spots.

I have stopped using BP as I noticed that although it helped to prevent new spots, it was making the healing process slower leaving me with awful, angry looking red marks.

This is the regimen I have adapted from Delna's and I have not had any breakouts for the past week.

MORNING (due to time constraints)

**************************

Cleanse with Living Nature Purifying cleansing gel (contains manuka oil)

Moisturise with Eucerin Renewal SPF15

EVENING

*****

Step 1 (CLEANSER)

Cleanse with Living Nature Purifying cleansing gel (contains manuka oil)

Step 2 (SCRUB)

Mix 1 teaspoon Bicarbonate Soda with a bit of water to make thick paste.

Use paste to scrub face

Wash off with water

Step 3 (TONER)

Mix 1 portion of Apple Cider Vinegar with 3 portion of water

Use cotton wool to apply mix to face

Leave mix on the face for 10 minutes

Wash off with water

Step 4 (MASK)

Beat 1 tablespoon of Egg white with a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon juice till frothy

Apply mask to face

Wait for 10 minutes or until mask dries.

Wash off with water

Step 5 (MOISTURISER)

Moisturise with SkinChoice Acnesil (contains tea tree oil, colloidal silver)

And to answer RISurfer's question about skin colored comedones, it really helps as I had comedonal acne from these flesh colored bumps. Since my skin has been exfoliated consistently with this method, i've had less build up and hence less bumps = less chance of breakouts.

Please just give it a try. It is really worth it and I am so so happy with my skin texture and my make-up glides on so easily now.

I've had comments from friends about how baby soft my skin looks and how my red marks are looking less noticeable.

Thank you once again Delna.

Hi everyone, does this work only on red scars? Will it work on brown/dark hyperpigmented scars?

I am thinking of trying this on my back.

it's been a week and the results are:

skin is paler. this is good since i'm dark skinned...

red marks on forehead almost gone. definetly good...

horrbile dark hyperpigmentation on cheeks reduced around 25%. Excellent... it's faster than anything i've tried before...

scars/icepicks/rolling scars still there, but i'm in no hurry for that...

skin overall: is very soft and i just LOVE it!!!! Well, i don't try the egg thing but the Sodium Bicarbonate and vinegar is more than worth it!!!

yeah it worked on my brown spots from acne! vinegar is a strong acid so it just peels the pigmented layer off, so i guess it really doesn't matter what color the scar is

my aesthetician is just AWESOME!!! I had gone in for my second Silk Peel and we were talking abt various skin care mistakes for acne-prone skin... she told me that all u need for those red marks to go away is follow these simple rules.

1) cleanse with a mild cleanser for sensitive skin.

she says the concept of oily skin and using oily skin products for acne is wrong! oily skin products are best tolerated by ppl who have oily skin but free from breakouts. anyone who is doing ANY treatment for acne will have sensitive skin. so hypoallergenic and sensitive skin products are the best bet for them! this is because oily skin strips of all the oils on skin..so the skin counter-reacts by producing more oil and hence more acne. those with breakout free oily skin...mm...the lucky few..r the only ones to tolerate this..P.Acne bacterium..why do u hate some ppl and leave the others alone??? WHY??? eusa_boohoo.gif

2) avoid all scrubs..no matter how mild they claim to be. but how do we exfoliate, do u ask??? oh thats easy...and DIRT CHEAP too!!! 2 WORDS- BAKING SODA!

she says that she has not come across any acne-prone patients who has benefitted from scrubs. it may work for a while in some...lead to initial happiness..yeah, and then lead to final gloom when breakouts appear from everywhere...even the areas where it was break-out free in the beginning! SO NO SCRUBS PPL eusa_naughty.gif .use baking soda instead... just make a paste out of baking soda and water...and massage very gently. wash immediately. u have to do this after cleansing. u may be able to extract some ripe or loose blackheads afterward. hey and never try to squeeze a blackhead if its not ready to come out...u will regret it!

3) now that baking soda is basic in nature..something acidic is needed to balance the ph. ANSWER? APPLE CIDER VINEGAR!

use a 1:8 (vinegar:water) solution first and then gradually increase to 1:1 ..never apply it neat. BALANCED pH = BEAUTIFUL SKIN! wash off after 10 mins. dont leave it on.

4) apply ur acne cream..i use the Proactiv BP lotion. i use the amt Dan suggests for beginners...

4) Moisturise with SPF containing moisturiser. I use Cetaphil and it does not break me out.

5) And for those who apply make-up, use non-acnegenic products containing titanium  dioxide or zinc oxide. they r good for the skin too!

6) In the evening, cleanse ur face..( use baking soda and acv only once a day..morning or evening as ur preference) ..apply a mild mask (everyday if possible)..my aesthetician's favourite mask is (btw..she has absolutely gorgeous baby-smooth skin and she told me that she had acne in her teens! hard to believe..!)

1 tablespoon of egg-white whipped up + a squeeze of lemon (dont put too much). smooth it over ur face..avoid eye area... wash off in 10 minutes....and look at a NEW REJUVENATED YOU!! eusa_dance.gif

i tried this mask every day for 5 days....its AMAZING...my skin looks so refreshed! And bonus point is that done everyday...this will make the red-spots VANISH!!!

7) Apply ur acne cream before bed.

THATS IT!!

I am not kidding...there is a HUGE difference in my red-spots after just 5 days of this routine. I am going to stick to this routine. U guys ABSOLUTELY MUST TRY THIS.....

i will be glad to answer any questions regarding this....

TAKE CARE ALL OF YOU!!

I jsut started this today, I really hope it works. I couldn't find red cider vinegar at my grocery store, so I got apple cider vinegar instead. Works the same right? The bottle says it has 5% acid. And I got paranoid about the vinegar killing my skin so I diluted it 1:10. I'll slowly increase it, but I love this forum!! Everyone is so supportive. Let's pray for an acne free world!

thats what ur supposed to use......where did u get red?? lol

i also really diluted mine last night when i tried cuz i have pretty sensitive skin and i didn't want to bleach it or anything....and it seemed to work fine.

good luck!

I'm gonna give this a shot.

I just cleared up well from a week of pretty hard loading of BP Gel. I went out for a riding (bmx) session a day ago with some mates and I've broken out a bit, wahh my chin used to be clear sad.gif Maybe due to the sun exposure which I haven't had a lot of lately, don't think my moisturiser contains any sunscreen either... Oh I have been using the proactive cleanser as an exfoliant some nights too, I think thats probably contributed to my dryness.

Other than that though, my skin has suddenly become super dry and without moisturiser it hurts and skin is peeling off. Especially around my eyes, I don't apply BP Gel to my eye area cause that would be retarded but it too has gone all dry, my eye lids are painful without moisturising. If I scrunch up my face you can see its all wrinkled with dryness sad.gif

Its odd cause its never been this dry before and I have used BP for about 3 weeks now. Im guessing it mustve been from being outside for a long time and being all sweaty. The excercise made my face burn pretty harshly from the BP, I don't think that was too good confused.gif

I'm going to have to stop the BP for a bit till my skin recovers. So I figured I might try this idea then add the BP back into play and see how it goes.

Just went to the shops and bought baking soda and ACV. Did the scrub and it felt pretty good, then moisturised, my spots are pretty red but hopefully they'll fade soon.

Will do the egg/lemon mask tonight and see how that goes.

Kind of an odd question about the whole base/acid thing: I know from high school science that bases and acids shouldn't mix - so, what if there's a little bit of baking soda left on your face before you apply the vinegar? Wouldn't the reaction be quite bad for your skin? I'm not confident I can be 100% sure I've gotten all the b.s. off before the a.c.v.! eusa_think.gif

i would NEVER recommend alot of exfoliation FOLLOWED by alot of moisturizing if you still have active acne.

Well i gotta say that mask was something!

Smelled a bit weird, but easily bearable. After it dried it felt like I'd dipped my face into super glue, I seriously could not crack a smile heh, it was that tight!

Washed it off just a few mins ago, apart from my skin still being very dried out, it feels incredibly smooth.

I'll probably put on a small amount of moisturiser, cause my face is like the Sahara atm... then sleep.

For the egg white/lemon mask are you supposed to use a real fresh squeezed lemon or lemon juice?

I need some help on the meaning of baking soda. I live in the Netherlands, and there are different meanings of baking soda here. Does the baking soda that is mentioned here look more like salt, or more like baking powder? Do you have any other words for baking soda?

Without the correct understanding of baking soda i would be putting the wrong thing all over my face, and that isn't really what i had in mind. smile.gif

edit:

Here, we also clean things with baking soda. Is this the one i need to use ?

I love how this regimen makes my skin feel so soft and smooth.

But as for the fading of redmarks.. I can't really tell if there's any improvement. There are times they seem to be fading really well then the next day they look bad again. I'm starting to think these redmarks won't ever go away sad.gif I don't know.. may be I should start taking pictures too see if there's any. eusa_think.gif

Overall, I really like this method. My skin is never dry anymore.
