I have been using ACV for several months now, and it has really helped with my redmarks and keeping my skin clear!

A month or so ago I didn't use ACV one morning, after having used it for the past few months, and for the first time in weeks I broke out with lots of tiny white pimples! Then I knew ACV must really help in preventing breakouts.

The first time I read this thread I did the whole thing... baking soda, ACV, and egg mask. I stopped doing the egg mask because it was too much of a hassle (plus I'm in college and don't usually have eggs in the dorms) but I continue to use ACV twice a day, and the baking soda mask occasionally when I feel like there's too much build-up on my face.

Well, today I noticed that my redmarks that I've had FOREVER (really, probably a year or more) looked a lot lighter. I think it was the baking soda! I used it for the first time in a long time the night before, and used the ACV after. I think the two together really do work well. I can tell the baking soda really helped since I hadn't used it in a while, and it was the only "new" thing I did before I noticed the significant reduction of my redmarks. So now I try to use baking soda more often. Just thought I'd share that!

Also, for a natural spot-treatment for zits, Desert Essence blemish stick is THE BEST! You can buy it at GNC or Trader Joe's (much cheaper at TJ's!) I ran out of it recently (the tiny bottle lasts me less than a month) and I couldn't find it anywhere (didn't know about TJ's yet) so I just bought Tea Tree Oil, since it's the main ingredient, and mixed a bit of that with aloe vera gel and would spot-treat zits with that. It didn't work as well and it was hard to not use too much tea tree oil (it would make my face red). Anyway, I'm so glad I got the Desert Essence blemish sticks again. They were only $5 at Trader Joe's, compared to $9 at GNC, so I went ahead and got 2. I'm now treating the two pimples that I got since I ran out of this stuff (my skin was totally pimple-free before I ran out!)

I also use Desert Essence Throughly Clean Face Wash (it has TTO and Awahpui) and it's AMAZING! You only need a few drops so it will last you forever, and it's also about $5 at Trader Joe's! (or $9 at GNC). It was too drying for me when I first used it, but now I just add a few drops of jojoba oil to it every time I wash my face and it works wonders! :) And it doesn't hurt that jojoba oil is said to be good for redmarks too!

Sorry for getting a bit off the red-marks topic... hehe. But this is the thread that really got me involved in this board, which I've learned a lot from, so I just thought I'd share what has been working for me :)

Can this be used if you have active acne? Or is it better for people with only redmarks?

Hi- I read and read through the posted replies- sorry if this question is redudnant~

Can you use the ACV and Mask with BP acne treatment?? Or do I need to wait untill ALL acne is gone?

I still have some breakouts that are on the healing end~

I have just recently started treating moderate acne (blackheads, pimples, pustules and a couple cysts) I have been treating for 1 week with Dans regemine and have been seeing improvement- I have uber dry skin now- and would like to do something to improve the texture and this sounds like a great regime - I would like to exfoliate and neutralize PH but am concerned with overdoing it-

Any advise/suggestions?

Thanks!

THANKYOU!

I am 35yrs old - and have suffered from acne since I was 13. I cleared it up with a comination of antibiotics or birthcontrol since my 20's .... but ever since I've had terrible blackheads & red "scars". I've been using various products with BHA/Salicylic acid since its supposed to penetrate the oil/blockage within the pore to best exfoliate .... but it didnt really seem very effective.

Last week I read this forum and started adding equal parts baking soda to my cleanser (Biore Deep Pore) as an exfoliating agent - but the results were surprisingly better. My blackheads are 85% gone! I think the Baking Soda softens the PH level in the cleanser so the BHA is more effective. I also use Apple Cider Vinigar as a toner, (also to return my skin's PH to normal level) - in one week the red marks have faded by 50%?!?

WOW!

Thank you to everyone in this thread! I'm so glad to finally have this problem solved .... only wish I had learned this years ago .... would have prevented so much damage!

God, what a lot of posts. Anyway, this sounds awesome I'm gonna have to give it a try. My red marks are now pinkish/light red but from what I have read here it seems this methos followed religiously could go some way to fading them completely. I'll go and get the 'ingredients' later today. After a month of doing it I will post my results.

Also, I would much rather choose a natural approach to relieve red marks than using glycolic acid and I have just been leaving them alone since using ACV while ago (I only used it for 2 weeks which is never enough time to allow something to work) and they are finally fading but I wanna give em a push in the right direction

A note about egg whites:

A few pages back, it was suggested to use the white directly from the egg as opposed to the whites in the carton at the grocery store.

But I have been using the whites from the carton and getting the same quality results. The carton is so much easier because I go through egg whites quickly. There are no additives in the brand I use. It just says 100% egg whites on the side.

This regimen is absolutely amazing.... I have been doing this for about a week and my redmarks have drastically been reduced, but i have had a few whiteheads come up but i think they're just coming to the surface.... But instead of using Bp(it irritates my skin) i use 100% aloe vera\ lotion mix........ And at night i use 100% aloe vera mixed with 100% vitamin e oil.... Vitamin E oil really does the trick, only prob is that its really sticky, so you cant rest the sides of your face on your pillow..... Wish me luck!! thanks delna i think you may have saved my life

Help! For some reason my pores are getting larger and larger and even though my skins are smooth (except for one big zit :doubt: ), the skin actually loooks worse because of the enlarged pores..

I've scoured a bunch of this thread, but i wasnt able to determine an answer for one of my questions.

Has it determined which rids of the red marks? The baking soda or the egg-white?

Its just that my skin is doing rather well at the moment, and the last time that I had a major break-out was when I was using an exfoliating scrub (damn you to hell, St Ives sensitive or whatever its called. Note: STAY AWAY FROM IT!). So I think I'd be much more comfortable if I left out the whole baking-soda part. However, if it isnt the egg-white that removes the red-marks, I think I'd be inclined to not participate in this regime all together, seeing that my current regime is working well at controlling breakouts (and if it aint broke, dont fix it!).

Thanks.

wow, it'd be awesome if this would work! thanks to doing a healthy diet again my skin is clearing up, but i just hate the uneven skin tone! i tried the baking soda (but i only had baking powder) and the ACV. after that my red marks came out even more, but i guess that'll calm down...i really hope it'll work ^^

oh but a question to all of you: what do you do if you are away from home for longer? say like on holidays or so. do you take the stuff with you? and would it work to fill the ACV mixed with water into a bottle? so you don't have to mix it every evening?

Has anyone tried using an AHA lotion as a moisturizer to get even more anti-red mark action?

when you apply the baking soda and ACV to your face, how long do you apply each one for? For the baking soda, do you massage it for about 10-15 secs and then rinse off? And for ACV, would I simply dab on my face until I got all the areas covered, or should I continue dabbing the same spot for a certain amount of time? Thanks.

I started this regime 2 days ago, today is my 3rd day, and already I can see an improvement in not only my red marks but my active acne too. I really hope that if I continue it that it'll free me from acne and marks altogether.

Just a question....can I crack open an egg and transfer the egg whites & lemon mixture into a small plastic container, and use that for a few days? Or will the egg mixture go rotton or lose its effectiveness?

I just have to add.. today is day 5 for me. Looking great so far. I don't have any new active blemishes (that's a first for me!) and my previous active blemishes (from 5 days ago) are flat and already fading, and my red scars from blemishes long gone are fading too.

I'm so happy at the moment. So far this regime is the only thing that's helped me. I'm going to recommend it to anyone I encounter with acne problems.
