U should use a hypoallergenic, sensitive skin, non pore clogging quality moisturizer. This will prevent your face from making its on natural moisturizer (ie. oil). But don't use any old moisturizer.

Just got done with my first application of everything. I must say it did fade my red marks! Hopefully in a week they will have faded even more! Kudos to this thread and science!

While it did improve my skin quality I am afraid to do it again (after reading the other posts about how your not supposed to exfoliate while on accutane eusa_doh.gif ) So i'm just going to stick to the egg whites and lemon juice mask.

Is the egg mask a must to get rid of red marks? I live in a dorm and I really don't have room for a dozen eggs, because we all share one fridge and it's packed as it is. I'm doing the baking soda and then the regular regimen with it, has/will that get rid of the red marks eventually?

the egg part is just for a better complexion and glow,, the baking soda and the vinegar should be enough for the red marks

I used Egg Start which is 99% real egg whites (the mini milk carton type). That should save some room.

i suppose just any sodium bicarbonate (some called it bisodium carbonate, so i don't know..) and ACV should be enough... as for me, i only saw Arm and Hammer stuff and some random apple cider vinegar...

Hi delna I was just wondering, I'm using the proactive treatment right now and your treatment seems interesting. the proactive treatment doesn't seem to clear up red marks, would you recommend stoping the treatment while you do this baking soda and acv treatment or would it be ok to do both in your opinion.

hi all, looks like my ppl are getting some fast results eusa_dance.gif ....THATS ONE HELL OF A GOOD NEWS!! eusa_clap.gif

wantperfectskin, vinegar will help with the sun spots. lemon is also a good natural bleach. So the egg-white mask wd do her good too. so she can give this a try. If it doesnt work..she wd have to use a more stronger product...like Tri-Luma which has hydroquinone in it.

arya, u r welcome anytime..im happy this is working for u! smile.gif

sataninheels, im getting a lot of pms asking me if accutane users can do this. I really dont know the answer..i wish someone cd ask their derm abt this and let everyone know. Also, did u ever have a feeling that the woman giving u salt peels cares for ur money more than ur face confused.gif ? coz i did when i read ur post. she has nothing to lose and for u everything is at stake. pls ask ur derm before continuing it. its likely that this lady doesnt know a thing abt the effects of accutane.

xyz101, moisturiser with sunscreen is what u shd be using. No, u cannot skip this step for this or any regimen for that matter. If u use bp or any other anti-acne product, u need extra protection from the sun and the envt. Actually i was paranoid all my life abt moisturiser...coz ive tried so many and ALL of them made me break out. U have to chose the right one. U have to do the trial and error method on this one, im afraid. Cetaphil with SPF 15 is one suggestion i can make coz it doesnt break me out. Always look for hypoallergenic products for sensitive skin. if u break out with every other product u try..then ur skin is sensitive...and not oily. we all have made this mistake.

flip...hey glad u tried this out..but pls check with ur derm even if u r doing only the eggwhite mask coz it has lemon in it which might make ur skin sensitive while on accutane.

gustav..u shd try it when u get a chance..u really shd..like montana said it will give u a glow that u thought u've lost forever! it will also tighten ur enlarged pores if used regularly.

montana, i use 'great value' as theirs come in small sized packs which is handy for my bathroom. but the brand shdnt matter.

lazerking, im using Proactiv's bp lotion as my anti-acne lotion. baking soda is for exfoliating the skin and cleaning ur pores thoroughly before using an anti-acne product. this will increase ur acne cream's effectiveness. when u use B.soda, u shd use a cleanser without any antibacterial properties so as not to dry out ur skin. so i wdnt recommend Proactiv's renewing cleanser with this(as it has bp in it)..i wdnt recommend it anyways...coz though it claims to be gentle, it is still a scrub. I used to break out every single day until i stopped using their cleanser.

Take care all of u!!

Thanks for the advice delna, so what you are saying is that I should use your baking soda and acv first and then use the proactive solution repairing lotion. and skip the renewal clenser.

My question is, after your baking soda and acv treatment would you suggest I still use the Revitalizing toner or should i skip that as well as the renewal clenser and just use the repairing lotion.

Thanks

also, when you mention using a moisturizer is the revitalizing toner something i could use for that?

and finally, do you just use the baking soda and acv once a day or do you do it both in the evening and morning?

As you can see from the number of posts I have, i'm not very active on the forums. My skin has gone to shit latley because its been overly dry and very irritated. I've been on Dan's regimen for about 3 weeks now. I'm thinking the reason it's so bad is because I'm using too much BP Gel, which I'm going to start lowering considering I have a very small amount of active acne on my face.

This regimen seems like it keeps the same effects of Dans Regiemn. Cleanse, Apply BP, then Moisturize. While fading redmarks, balancing the PH of your skin, and giving you a vibrant glow.

I'm very interested in trying to start this regimen, but latley because my skin has been so irritated and itchy, I can't bear to leave it alone, i don't touch it with my bear hands, but rather take a dry towel or wash cloth and gently rub my face to remove the itchiness in some areas, this doesn't really hurt my skin, but when I haven't been able to do this, ive been scratching it, it just gets too hard not to sometimes.

Basically, I've got a few open cuts on my face now, i guess my skin is just SUPER sensetive latley ... but here's my question...

Should I wait until the cuts are healed to start this regimen ... the reason I ask is ..

The Apple Cider Viniger seems like it would sting the hell out of open wounds, but if my face continues to be this irritated and dry, I think it's only going to get worse ... something needs to be done.

Thank you for your post! Sounds great smile.gif

Hey Delna, i was wondering, how much baking soda do you use and the ratio of BS to water?

Also, do you really massage it on your face or just dab it on with a cotton?

just to clear something up for ya, the reason baking soda exfoliates your skin is because it IS a scrub. the particles are small but it is still scrubbing your face. basically when you said "avoid all scrubs..no matter how mild they claim to be" and then go on to suggest baking soda for an alternative, you are contradicting yourself.

i am not saying that this regimen won't work for clearing your redmarks but people with sensitive skin due to vitamin a derrivitives (such as accutane and retin a) should not...i repeat NOT use any form of scrubs. you could end up scarring your face quite badly. if you are on accutane or retin a do NOT use this regimen...or at least cut out the baking soda part.

I tried this today and the Bicarbonate of Soda was an amazing exfoliant....I usually use a microfiber cloth but only once a week as you can get carried away with it.

I used

Mild Lancome cleanser

Bicarbonate of Soda

ACV

Aloe Vera Gel

Lancome moisturiser

and tonight I have used

Mild Lancome cleanser

Egg white and lemon mask

Natural Fairness lightening essence

Aloe Vera Gel

My skin feels so soft....The fairness essence has really helped my red marks but hopefully this routine will help rid me of them even faster.

you also dont balance your skin pH by adding an alk and then an acid, its just not that simple...

lazerking, no need to use ur Proactiv's toner when using ACV. Acv is a very good toner too and thats all u need. No, toner cannot do a moisturisers job and it cannot keep the sun from harming ur skin. U need to buy a moisturiser with sunscreen (15 SPF as the climate is colder now..u need to switch to 30 SPF when it gets warmer again). Look for the words, sensitive skin, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic when u buy that or any other product for ur face.

pink_sparkle... eusa_clap.gifbiggrin.gif

injektion...sounds like ur skin has become very dry and sensitive to BP. when this happens, u need to give it a break from BP. Just do ur cleansing routine and moisturise. U can apply the egg-white mask. It will reduce the dryness and help it soften again. Just make sure u dont use any anti-acne product until ur skin is normal again...no, not even an anti-bacterial cleanser. The more drier ur skin gets...the more time ur existing pimples takes to heal and the more scars u will get from them. so be careful. dont start this routine (except for the mask)until ur skin is normal.

pimpleguy..i hate to call u this way sad.gif ..u really need to stop calling urself that eusa_naughty.gif ..to answer ur ques, abt 1 tsp B.soda mixed with a few drops of water till it becomes a paste like consistency. Massage gently to ur skin and wash off immediately.

agentcooper..i agree with u on the fact that accutane users shd not do this without consulting a doctor. By saying avoiding all scrubs, i meant to say the products u get from the stores. I have tried only two. St.ives Apricot scrub and Proactiv's cleanser. Both irritated my skin. I cannot speak for the ones i havent tried but im sure they are irritants...atleast for my skin. Theres a difference between scrubs and exfoliators. All scrubs are exfoliators but all exfoliators are not scrubs(eg: alpha and beta-hydroxy acids). b.soda feels like a scrub when u apply it, but actually its a very gentle exfoliator which will not irritate the skin. even ppl who have done 5 dermabrasions (skin sensitivity increases with this procedure) like animegirle uses b.soda along with their cleanser to exfoliate. its safe provided u dont over-do it as is the case with everything else.

RIsufer...if ur skin is irritated, peeled or dry coz of Retin A, then u might want to wait a while before starting this. Just give it a week rest by not using any anti-acne products..just cleanse and moisturise with products for sensitive skin. also, its better not to use Vinegar or lemon on ur skin for sometime after Retin A. If im not wrong, i think the label says not to use citrus products on the skin when on Retin A. Be on the safe side and give some time for the skin to get back to normal.

To all those who have pmed me....love u guys for trying out this regimen...its so difficult for me to answer each one of u personally...my mailbox is full! will answer the urgent ones...for the rest...just follow this thread..im sure u will get ur answers smile.gif thanks guys!

delna...i really think it is awesome of you to create this thread and to be so willing to answer questions about it. i also love to use baking soda with cetaphil to gently scrub my face....so it's not that i have a problem with anything but i do want to make sure that everyone knows all the info before trying it, so....

i know that not all exfoliators are scrubs but baking soda IS. the reason it works as an exfoliant is because it is a scrub. it is much more gentle than a lot of the store bought scrubs but it is a scrub, none the less. there are many exfoliants that aren't scrubs such as: aha, bha, mandelic acid, glycolic acid,etc...baking soda is not the same as those things...those exfoliants are mostly acids.
