I have a quick question about the use of vinegar for redness and pigmentation, does it also lighten your skin tone? because i started using it for a couple of days before goign to bed, applying it directly from the bottle with a cotton ball, waiting five mins and applying differin gel. My skin looked alot whiter than it used to.

Is the mask helping to lighten the red marks, or is it mostly the baking soda/vinegar that does that? If I just did the baking soda/vinegar without the mask, would that be significantly less effective?

I just don't want to break open an egg everyday, seems a little wasteful.

Thanks.

laukelekele, i just take one teaspoon of B.Soda and mix few drops of water till it becomes a paste.

u r so welcome. u cant imagine how happy i am when the others who have tried this responded back twice as excited eusa_clap.gif . Im thrilled!!

wantperfectskin...u r on ur way! keep up the good work, buddy! Have u tried the mask?

mx6_grl...thanks a lot for the nice words! it feels good to make ppl happy!!

u can use this regimen for any part of ur body. in fact, baking soda when added to ur bath water is a good skin polisher. (dont use it when ur skin is cracked or blistered though)..it will clean the pores deep and keep acne away. Did u also know that Acv when added to bath water makes skin and hair both silky? i tried this yesterday..i added a 1/4 cup of acv to 2 cups of water and used it as a last rinse for my hair after shampoo and conditioner....good lord...today morning..i cdnt recognize my hair..it was so soft my fingers just glided thru it eusa_whistle.gif !!

i really dont know if roaccutane users can do this. It maybe safe..but only ur dermatologist can tell u that. any topicals other than prescribed might make their skin drier coz of the effects of accutane. but since these r natural ingredients, there shdnt be a problem. but PLEASE, check with ur doctor first.

fantasyclover, acv is a natural bleach. it bleaches ur facial hair first...so u may feel ur skin tone has become lighter. eventually,it evens out ur skin tone and fades ur spot to the colour of the surrounding skin.

hey loner, whats 'shet meng'?? just curious biggrin.gif !! glad this is working for u.

matt35mm..u r SO RIGHT abt the wastage of food. i hate to waste food too. what i do is, when i make eggs in the morning, i keep aside one tablespoon of egg-white (thats all u need) and store it in the fridge to use it in the evening. the days when i dont make eggs, i break open one egg and store the egg-white in the fridge. u need only one tablespoon and it will stay in the fridge for a couple of days use. u can always use the rest when u r cooking and use a fresh one the next day.

The mask totally changed the texture of my skin. it rejuvenates, tightens pores and makes ur skin look fresh! of course, u can go without the mask too..why dont u experiment? if ur marks r fading without the mask, then u wont need it!

mx6, don't do ANY scrubs while you are on accutane. your skin is too thin.

hey delna.. thanks for posting this! eusa_clap.gif I've only tried it last night and my face feels so smooth! I put the same amount of bp and I woke up this morning without flaky skin! I didn't even put on moisturizer but my face wasn't dried out at all!

And you mentioned about using acv on your hair too.. I had the same idea but then I was afraid my hair would smell like vinegar confused.gif What do you think??

1. How does 1tbs of eggwhite go over your whole face? Does it go that far?

2. Secondly, if I decided to use baking soda as an exfoliant with my soap, when should the ACV afterwards be applied? Straight after the shower, or can I wait 15 minutes after my shower to give my face a chance to calm down and so I don't irritate it?

3. How is egg mask best applied?

hai pinay..im glad u r seeing positive results. just stick with it till u r completely clear of all marks.

Abt vinegar smell biggrin.gif ..hehe..it goes off in abt 20 mins both on ur face and hair...and if u blow dry ur hair..it goes off as soon as ur hair is dry!

Hummelectrichumm...

1) if u try the mask, then u will know!

2) acv works best when applied immediately after ur face is super-clean. so the answer to ur question is..'no, u neednt wait'.

3) whip 1 tbsp egg-white till frothy, add 1 small squeeze of lemon. mix with fingers. smoothen on face with fingertips. wait till dry. wash.

pink_sparkle...me glad u glad!!! keep up the good work!!

myan, i posted a reply to this this morning, but for some reason it's not there anymore!!!! eusa_doh.gif soo weird. anyway, Delna, this sounds absolutely wonderful. I just keep hearing about improvements and in such a short time....it's so heartening. I'm definitely gonna try it. It's making me feel giddy almost!! lol...like, yes fnally something that'll work for the dreaded red marks that seem to last for AGES!! I've had some since 3 years.....grrrr. So, just wanted to thank you for letting us know about this regimen....hope it works. eusa_pray.gif

p:s do you think it would work without doing the egg mask? like just the baking soda?

agentcooper - yes, i've been told not to exfoliate while on roaccutane.. are u on it as well? coz while its clearing up my acne, my face looks forever flushed.. i've had these red marks since... umm.. TOO long! im asian and have tanned skin, so its not that obvious, but it still bothers me.. maybe i can just use the eggwhite/lemon mask.

Delna, ur rite, i should probably ask my dermo first b4 i try this.. im itching to try it tho.. hehehe.. *holds myself back*

I'm going to try the mask... I'm a little aprehensive of the baking soda and viniger thing just because I have hella sensitve skin and I don't want to mess it up more then it is already... I'm on accutane 6 or 7 weeks in.. and my red marks are pretty much all that is left... under crazy dry skin... I just hope the egg mask doesn't make it even more dry....

Does it make your skin more dry...? I don't know if the issue has been addressed... well I'm going to try it tonight anyways and moisturize afterwards just incase....

I'm verrrry sure it's not going to work for me.. but we'll see how it goes...

Its the shet meng, You gotta say it in a cuban / spanish accent and youll get it. Also there was somebody saying about wasting an egg a day... i thought it would be like that too but you dont have to put a whole egg. I ration it and it covers my whole face , and 1 egg could last up to 4 days ( just keep it refrigerated after cracking it). I only use the clear part tho. Also something that could help is instead of taking the egg completely out of the shell , just crack the egg slightly until you have a lil opening, take out what you think is enough to cover your face and keep the opened egg in the refrigerator.

rosie,

thanks a lot for ur nice words! im happy this is working for u. i am almost convinced that this will work for everyone with red marks...those bugging reminders of our acne. just stick with it till ur fully clear. U know its been 2 weeks since i have started this regimen. I would have loved to post some before and after pics.but my husband is not very comfortable with the idea. so i dropped it. sorry guys...but if u cd see my pics, u wd be convinced more. i cannot believe myself that such a simple theory abt skin ph cd be a wonderful solution to my problem!

so shd u toss out ur scrubs...nope...u can use it for ur body where skin is tougher...like ur feet, knees and elbows..no need to throw it. i use my St.ives apricot scrub when i do pedicures at home eusa_dance.gif

montana, the egg-yolk is used as a pack for ppl with dry skin and egg-white is used for all the other skin types. egg-yolk might break u out but no, the egg-white will not.

hi arya, let me quote something from the famous infomercial Proactiv solutions..."YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BUT YOUR...RED MARKS!!!!" lol.gif Actually, the egg-mask is the best part..just try it everyday for a week...ur skin will look fresher than never before...if u r not satisfied with the results(which is very unlikely...take my word for it!!) ..u can discontinue. Acv and bakng soda is a must..and dont forget to moisturise after it.

hi ricks..if u r on accutane...pls ask ur derm before trying out this. Lemon might make ur skin sensitive since its already very dry coz of the effects of accutane.

loner...YEP I GOT IT!! biggrin.gif

hey ur idea abt breaking the egg is COOL!! im going to do it that way from now! thanks, buddy!

hi delna,

This is working great for me. My red marks are finally disappearing and my skin looks great.

Do you know if this regimen would work for someone that has brown spots from sun damage? My friend had mentioned to me that she wanted to do something about her sun spots. I was wondering if this would work for her. I do not have sun damage so I wouldn't know.

I tried the egg mask for the first time last night. I must say WOW.

Now, my next goal is to get rid of these scars.

Thank again,

Sounds too simple. Might as well give it a try. It would be interesting to research how these weak bases and diluted weak acids reduce redness.

BTW: here's the difference between baking soda and baking powder.

Lazy Link

I don't have any vinegar so I'm just going to use extra lemon juice in the mask.

BTW: I'm on accutane I'm doing it. I take 80mg a day (I weigh 147 lb.)

delna,

thank you so much for sharing this with us, it looks like a very promising technique for those embarassing red marks... I have a quick question for you: for the morning part of it do you REALLY need to moisturize the skin after putting on ACD and the Baking Soda Paste...I already have oily skin so I'm affraid it'll clog my pores further more if I add a vitamin e lotion at the end of it all..

Can i skip that step or is it necessary to moisturize afterwards?
