QUOTE(Secret Guest @ Jan 19 2005, 07:38 AM)

I still have active acne, but I know it has to do with my liver, but I can definitely use this regimen to clear out the dark red spots around my face. You guys think your red marks are bad -- mine are horrible. Ugh! Anyways, looks like everyone is making good progress. Well, you can queue me right up, because I'll be on my second day tomorrow.

What are you doing to clear your liver? I started getting acne this summer and a naturopath told me to clear my liver. I dithered for months, but finally did it in November. It was amazing . it has worked and the breakouts have stopped and I get just 1 or two pimples if I eat banned foods. So I am now trying to fade out the red/dark marks left by the acne . If you need guidance on clearing your liver (the cause of most acne I think) check out www.askshelley.com or the curezone.com

Im so thrilled those who have tried my regimen are beginning to see positive results! eusa_clap.gif  ok, lets clear some of ur doubts.

- my regimen is strictly based on the fact that a little goes a long way when it comes to skin. the more u worry abt it and smear it with all the products u set ur eyes upon at stores, the worse it becomes. Why do u think any spot on our body clears faster than the ones on our face? because we tend to leave it alone! thats the key to beautiful skin. clean it, pamper it, protect it...then give the poor thing some space and leave it alone!

Dave,

u can mix baking soda with the cleanser or u can use it after cleansing. it doesnt matter. it does the same job! the reason i suggested mixing it is coz guys tend to be less patient than girls, lol!! biggrin.gif  ..also, u guys have one more thing to do, shave! so, it was just a tip to save u time. Whichever u prefer shd be fine! yes, the mask is important for tightening ur pores. u will be astonished at the results. it completely changed the look of my skin and gave it a brilliant glow! try it! and then tell me if that special someone asks u how u manage to look fresh all day...

fantasyclover,

if u make a paste of baking soda and water and feel it between ur fingers, u will notice that it has a very very fine granular texture. thats how it acts like an exfoliant. this will not irritate ur skin like the other scrubs. baking soda is a beauty treatment used for centuries. If u feel a spot coming, just apply warm water compresses on the spot for 10 mins. then put some baking soda paste on it. if u do this a few times, the pimple will draw to a head. u can then stretch the skin carefully( no squeezing!) to yield the pus and apply neosporin. ur pimple will heal without a scar, I promise!

vinegar will lighten ur red marks since it is a natural anti-oxidant.

dont know if there is any alternative to the egg-white/lemon mask. but of course, there r other masks that u can try. u have to find out what works for ur skin. i wish i cd be more specific..but i certainly dont want to give u any wrong advice.

seether,

take 1 tablespoon of egg-white, whip it up lightly with a fork till its frothy and add a small squeeze of lemon..mix it with ur fingers and apply. no need for blender, lol lol.gif . im sure none of us will have the time for that!

ATTENTION JSBEE AND ALL THE OTHERS WHO HAVE THIS DOUBT!! THIS IS IMPORTANT!!

Baking powder is not meant to be used on skin. Bicarbonate of soda, i.e, baking SODA is what u shd be using.  jsbee, pls be careful and dont play with ur skin eusa_naughty.gif . glad u liked the mask!

duluxdog,

baking soda shd be washed off immediately after using it for exfoliation. Its good to spot treat but never use it as a mask. u will be doing more harm than good. like i said, a little goes a long way!

usershift,

cleanser can be any soap for sensitive skin. i wouldnt recommend any anti-acnel cleanser for this regimen, coz our goal is to clean the skin thoroughly before using an anti-acne product. this will increase the effectiveness of the anti-acne product.  also, when u use more than ONE acne medication at a time, ur skin will dehydrate.

My regimen- morning

- clean with Dove soap hypoallergenic fragnance-free for sensitive skin. wash.

- massage gently with a paste of BAKING SODA( please, not baking powder!) and water. wash immediately. pat dry.

- mix apple cider vinegar with water in a ratio which ur skin can tolerate. for this, ur skin is the best judge. a little redness in the beginning is normal and will go away. but if u feel its really irritating ur skin, stop using it promptly, wait for 2 days, then try again with a very very weak solution.  u can increase the concentration once ur skin is used to it. wait for 10 mins..i iron my clothes or prepare tea at this time. Wash it off.

- apply Proactiv BP repairing lotion. massage it in. (u can use any acne cream which works for u, but be moderate with the quantity. really, once ur skin is crystal clean, u dont need too much of it...any acne cream used in huge quantities damage ur skin...no matter how much u moisturise. i use the amt Dan suggests for beginners. heres the link..u can use the amt shown in the first picture.

http://www.acne.org/finger.html

- Cetaphil moisturiser with SPF 15. thats enough for the cold climate. I will switch to SPF 30 when it gets warmer again.

- light make-up.

evening

-cleanse with Dove

-apply egg-white mask. wash off after it dries

-apply Pro-activ BP

- off to bed...thrilled that this is working already, confident that this WILL continue working, hopeful that i will be free of all red marks in a few months from now.

i got pms from some members saying that they r getting results already. Thanks all of you for trying this out. im sure u wont regret it! Take care!!

freakit..vinegar is a natural AHA. but since its natural it may not be as strong as mandelic acid but will give u the same results eventually and wont harm ur skin. so if u want to try this regimen with acv, then u have to put ur mandelic acid aside. on the other hand, if mandelic A is helping u, no need to change. u can try the routine which u mentioned without the acv. try the egg mask too. it will fade ur marks faster.

Okay, I just used the egg white mask, and my skin is BRIGHTER! OMG! While I had the mask on, I looked at myself in the mirror, and it appeared that some brown color had mixed in with the mask, and I was like, "What is going on?!" Little did I realize that the mask was simply just doing its job by drawing out all the impurities, therefore, making my face appear smoother and brighter!! LOVE IT!

Thank you, Delna, for posting about the baking soda, ACV and egg white mask!!

Morning

Dettol antiseptic soap bar

Night

Baking Soda

ACV diluted

Tea tree oil

White vinigar diluted

Just read somewhere that white vinigar is really good for acne so im trying it out? any suggestions? Delna your help would be greatly appreciated

Can I buy any brand of acv from the grocery store, or is there a specific brand I should look for?

I'm 4 days into this regimen now and I woke up this morning to find my skin looked a little rougher than usual.. cry.gif I think it is because I was using abit too much baking soda and not enough water mixed with it, as I now find I have 3 whiteheads emerging and my red marks, although they were fading, have now gone back to their full redness!! doubt.gif

I am about to use the egg/lemon mask for the first time, I'll post in about 20 minutes and let you all know my thoughts smile.gif

*UPDATE*

Ok..... geez! I just did the egg mask and my god, my skin has NEVER EVER felt as smooth as it is right now!!

I left it on for 20 minutes and it was absolutely solid, my face couldnt move, hehe.

I must hit myself for not doing this from day one! I didnt notice any signifcent glow at first but the smoothness and texture of my skin is just amazing!!

some questions...

1. is it okay to use white vinegar + water in place of ACV + water

2. after doing the baking soda + vinegar thing to balance pH, is it okay to use a BP wash (5% BP) on the skin? (instead of a BP topical, to sorta lessen the use of BP which worsens red marks)

3. is it alright to use the tape exfoliation method before doing this regimen?

thanks a bunch.

Hey all, I'm still doing the regimen, about 2 weeks now. It's working pretty good. I think it just needs some more time and it'll really start to kick in.

Eh, the final cure huh. Yeah, I used to hang out in curezone.com, then when Shelley moved, I migrated too, almost. I'm prepping myself by sticking to my cleaner diet, as well as drinking detoxing teas and olive oil in the morning. I already used an oxygen cleaner to clean my bowels and colon, so all I have to do is go ahead with the flush. anyway, flushing is hat you did right? how long did it take you to finally clear your liver?

Hi, I tried this method tonight, and have some questions.

1) Shouldn't red marks fade on their own eventually? How long does this take? Does this sometimes not happen?

2) Is it normal, after doing this whole method, for my face to be very red? I'm assuming so... since all these cleaners are bound to irritate it, no matter how gentle I am. So not really worried about that.

3) How much baking soda should I use? How much water should I mix it with? I shook out about enough to cover my fingers on one hand, then mixed it until it had the consistency of whitish water (but I didn't wash the baking soda away or anything). Was that too much water, should I have left it pretty thick? It didn't feel like I was putting much on my face.

4) I'm also a little confused about the application of the ACV. It's so light, how am I supposed to put it on my face? I used a cotton pad sort of thing this time, is that the way to go?

Thanks a lot. Sorry if any of these questions have been asked before, but I couldn't bring myself to scour(sp) through twenty-plus pages.

Well i haven't really tried the regimen thing yet, still waiting for more answers (thanks joel) to my q's...but i think for ACV you use cotton swabs / pads / balls like you are doing now.

potentiallycute, if u feel ur skin is looking better, then u SHOULD continue. But make sure u apply ur acne cream and moisturiser with SPF without fail everyday. The SPF moisturiser shd be put on even if u r not going out into the sun. Also, make sure u dont scrub too hard with the b.soda and dilute the ACV. for ur current pimples, try this. hold a warm wet towel on ur spots for 5 mins to soften the area. then make a paste of b.soda and apply it on the spots alone. leave to dry. when u wash it off, u will notice it has come to a head. if it hasnt..just do this procedure a few more times with 1 hr intervals till it does. then u can stretch the skin gently to yield the pus and apply neosporin twice a day till it forms a scab. let the scab fall off on its own. if u do this u will find that the resulting red mark is faint and will disappear when u continue this regimen. Take care.

hi riffraff, stretching the skin to yield pus from a pimple, or to extract blackheads or whiteheads shd only be done after steaming the face to soften the skin. bend over a bowl of hot water and let the steam on ur face. pull a large towel over ur head so that the steam does not escape. then u can try to press out the blocked pores. keep in mind that if a blocked pore is not 'ripe' enuf to come out..then u may see a little blood or clear fluid coming out. when this happens, u shd stop immediately. rub an ice-cube over ur face to close pores, dry and apply neosporin. u can repeat this procedure after a week.

peter_17..pls do not over-do it. u will not get faster results..u will only irritate ur skin further. Once a day is fine. glad that u like it!

thankulonghair, GOOD LUCK WITH THIS REGIMEN! if u have read this whole thread..then u have lots of patience..and thats what u need for any regimen to work! keep us posted!

VLM123, now that its winter, i do moisturise at night too. right after my egg mask and acne cream. Good to hear u r doing well on this regimen!

lynnlynn, Proto, volcomwave...GOOD FOR YOU, GUYS!!!!! U do sound thrilled! Keep us posted!

hi freakit, if ur skin is peeled or irritated with mandelic acid..u shdnt use ACV..it will sting and may redden ur skin and make it worse. a rule to go by if u r not sure is do a test patch first. b.soda does bring out whiteheads that u already have from under ur skin when u use it for the first time. u have to press them out after steaming. when u use it regularly u will not get any blocked pores again since it exfoliates everyday keeping pores clean. But if u dont like b.soda then dont do it.

damn, if white vinegar is working for u, then go ahead by all means. i wd never recommend vinegar twice a day since its very drying..but hey, if its helping u..try it out. we all need to find our own cure! GOOD LUCK!

geezus, i agree with Proto abt the white vinegar. Also, pls dont use a bp wash for this regimen. u shd use an acne cream. Try Neutrogena OTS 2.5%. Havent done the tape method. But since b.soda is an exfoliator theres no need to do further exfoliation while on this regimen.

Brulia...Very good! keep us posted, buddy!

my aesthetician is just AWESOME!!! I had gone in for my second Silk Peel and we were talking abt various skin care mistakes for acne-prone skin... she told me that all u need for those red marks to go away is follow these simple rules.

morning...

2) exfoliate

3) tone to balance pH

now that baking soda is basic in nature..something acidic is needed to balance the ph. ANSWER? APPLE CIDER VINEGAR!

use a 1:8 (vinegar:water) solution first and then gradually increase to 1:1 ..never apply it neat. BALANCED pH = BEAUTIFUL SKIN! wash off after 10 mins. dont leave it on.

evening..

7) apply a mild protein mask....till date..ive never found a mask that gives as good results as this mask..this is my aesthetician's favourite mask (btw..she has absolutely gorgeous baby-smooth skin and she told me that she had acne in her teens! hard to believe..!)

1 tablespoon of egg-white whipped up + a squeeze of lemon (dont put too much). smooth it over ur face..avoid eye area... wash off in 10 minutes....and look at a NEW REJUVENATED YOU!! eusa_dance.gif

TAKE CARE ALL OF YOU!!

Ok Delna, I took one part egg white and mixed it with three squeeze lemon drops. After mixing it around, the consistency was all watery. I applied it over my red spots, but is it supposed to be all watery like that? I can feel it drying up though.

Anyhoo, the soda+ACV really made my skin smooth!!!

hey delna,

alright thanks for the info, however neutrogena bp 2.5% is a bit too expensive in canada, currently im using c&c's 5% bp cream. very thin layer though.

this is because after i found out ive been using apricot scrub + bp so much, (and bp causes the redness, which i didnt know, same with the irritation regarding the scrub), I cut down on use and stopped the scrub.

once i find white vinegar ill start this up, but i plan to skip the egg white thing... dont know how to make egg white. =(
