Just used a 1.0 mm all over my face, I heard some popping noises when I rolled over this one scar that was pretty deep.. it brought it to the surface and smoothed it out. Hopefully it can gradually fade now.
Keep hearing conflicting opinions on how often to roll.
Every 2 weeks?

1.mm is really shallow. depends on how aggressive you roll. in general needling should be done every 6-8 weeks . rememeber less is more....

Yeah I was pretty generous with the rolling and pressure since it was 1.0. I am completely fine with pain, I bled a bit but thats normal. I'll stick to every 6 weeks. Thank you.

It is not that shallow. It also depends on where on the face you roll/stamp. You guys should read the first post by Liquid in this thread.

Ha, we replied at the same time, if I were you I would go by Liquids advice to roll/stamp 0.5 for the forehead or bony parts, 1.0 for the temple and 1.5 for chins or "thick" areas.
liquid how many passes did you recieve on your worst scarring? i received 5 passes on cheeks where my deep boxscars and ice picks were so im curious
If you're referring to Intracel, I had 3 passes done. But it was for seborrheic dermatitis, I didn't have much or any scarring at that point.
Liquid_Ocelot,
Would you say your improvement from needling is permanent? I was just doing some research, and like laser, some doctors, who practice the method, claim the improvement is temporary and must be repeated indefinitely to maintain results. Obviously this is a major disappointment to read. I can't find any studies that prove otherwise. I also don't fully understand how it can be temporary if the needles break up scar tissue that is replaced by normal, healthy collagen. How would scar tissue return without a traumatic injury? I understand collagen breaks down naturally but why would this cause scar tissue to return? Just curious to know your thoughts and experience on permanent improvement, especially as it relates to the surface texture of scarred skin.
I haven't treated my skin since Intracel which was around 6 months ago, and my skin is actually looking better than it did a few weeks after the treatment. I can't speak for everybody, but my results are definitely permanent. I think what they're referring to in those studies are wrinkles, skin quality, texture and things of that nature. Clearly you will have to maintain that regardless of how you're treating your skin as aging is an ongoing process.
Edit: I should note that this doesn't mean that anyone that uses dermaroller will also get permanant results. If you want permanent results then one of the most important things you have to do is boost your immune system and healing ability. The best way to do this is reinvigorate your diet. This doesn't mean going on some bullsh!t plant diet, this means eating healthy and balanced. Don't go extreme, it will only stress your body out even more. They say 70% of your immune system is located in your gut, so take care of it.
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I was actually referring to comments by doctors on Realself about scar improvement from needling being temporary. A couple doctors said the scars resurface about a year after you stop rolling. That is why I was curious to know your personal experience.
I am familiar with the studies you reference though and most are geared towards anti-aging. I would expect maintainance to be required.
I have to agree that owndoc is not the most reliable source of information as she is promoting her own products. Her posts are always biased and geared to benefit sales.
Yeah I wouldn't take their opinion very seriously. Your scars aren't going to magically reappear after a significant period of time. If your results are due to micro swelling then your skin will very quickly go back to the way it was. It won't suddenly happen after a year.
hey liquid sorry to be pain but do you actually that you got rid of your boxcars scar like 100 percent or is it more like 90-80? just curious also do you have a particular technique to dermastamp like did u keep going till u bleed did u apply alot of pressure etc.
100% except for one but it's really small and doesn't bother me. I think I could get 100% if I really wanted to though.
Like I said, just try and get even coverage. When i'm stamping i'm thinking about the holes/damage i'm creating and whether it's nice and even across the whole surface of the skin/scar. And be thorough. The more treatments you do the better you will become at assessing how many times to go over the same area. Don't expect the first few treatments to be perfect. Just don't go crazy and stamp it like 30 times until your skin is mince meat. You apply enough pressure to get the length of the needle to penetrate.
Btw guys i'm going away in August/September so probably won't have time to come here so often. So if you have any questions you should ask me now.

I've been stamping for 6 months now & in the last two months I've added in terproline and LED's. Recently my skin has been looking better, scars look a lot softer. I've been feeling on top of the world these past few days because even with all swelling gone everything looks just softer and smoother. I've been feeling so happy and even putting on makeup because I actually didn't mind sitting in front of the mirror.
However, today I did something I should not have... I started inspecting my skin and now I'm back to feeling so sad seeing that the scars are still there, although better, but still there. I know it's only been 6 months but sometimes it gets real hard trying so hard and still seeing them in the mirror.
Emotions aside, I do want to let everyone know that I believe the LED & Terproline really made a difference because prior to adding those two in my results were not as good or fast. However, I do sometimes wonder if maybe the difference may just be because it's been over 6 months now and from all I've read and been told, thats around the time you really begin to start seeing results. Well either way I am going to continue with this regime until January and will keep everyone updated. I hope to see some more results.
Keep your head up. Sounds like you have made some great progress. It is certainly not a regime that sees overnight results, but seems to be worth it in the long run. I hope to join in on the LED/dermarolling club soon.
Can you post a link to what Terproline you bought? Do I need the "professional" version?
Thanks MoonSpoon & I hope I'm allowed to post links, but this is the one I purchased:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000OM2KAW
I had a hard time finding the professional so just got this one. I added this in on my last session and my results have been better than any other session I've done but again I wonder if thats just because it's been 6 months, who knows.
Hey Liquid,
Hope your still around I know you were mentioning that you'd be away for some of the summer. I've been following your protocol and was wondering if you could take a look at my pictures and give me an idea if I can expect improvement for my scars. It'll be greatly appreciated
Here's the link to my post:
Hi liquid, sorry but I just wanted to ask some more questions about the technique you used to needle your scars.
Did you stretch the skin taut so that the scars are fairly level before stamping with the derma-stamp?
Also, did you try to avoid needling the surrounding undamaged skin as much as possible? Does damaging the surrounding skin help to 'plump' up the scar itself?
Thank you

Hey sorry for the late reply. I can't see the pictures anymore. Update me on how it's going.

No I didn't really stretch the skin. I used to treat the entire face, saw an overall improvement in skin quality.
Thanks for replying! May I know where you bought your derma-stamps from? I bought some derma-stamps from owndoc but I've noticed the quality of the smaller-sized stamps aren't very good.
Also, were any of the scars that you treated located in the temple areas? I've read elsewhere that scars in these areas don't seem to respond very well to needling. Thank you.
hey liquid. ive had my eye on intracel for quite some time. do you think intracel is ideal for deep box scars and icepicks? how long was your downtime?
as for led's id be cautious with the use of them. they implanted hair follicle on my face where i never had before. i think everyone should be cautious when using LED's.
Can LEDS really implant hair follicles on your face? I mean, it can't create new hair follicles, just make them active.. It may stimulate your hair growth for a while?
So it should be safe to use LEDS, right?

Hey, sorry for the late reply. It took about 2 years to see the majority of my results.
Just a quick update, I haven't needled in over 2 years now and my skin is the best it has ever been so I can confidently say the results are permanent.
