you can try a spot treatment with laser. thats most likley your best option. since your dark skin your options willl be limited due to hyperpigmentation risks

I don't think lasers would be effective in my situation.

I think what caused it was the Differin + no moisturizer about a year and a half ago. I found a picture of myself I shot in October of last year and I can clearly see it. Why I only have this problem on the left side of my face though is beyond me. The only thing I can think of is maybe because I sleep on that side of my face, but I can't be certain. Like I said it goes deeper than just that scar. The majority of the left side of my face noticeably has less collagen/fat than the right side. It sucks because there is a slight division of skin, where it looks normal and then all of a sudden there is less collagen/fat. So there's kind of a line that runs down my face. I hate it so much. When I see how it looks in certain lighting I just want to die. I blame mostly my old dermatologist for this as he never recommended a moisturizer at all. I should of known but it didn't really cross my mind, and I didn't want to use something that was not recommended to me. Now I use a moisturizer and no longer use Differin (on Retin A now). I don't think there has been a lot of improvement really. I'm quite depressed about this lately. Even after explaining this problem to four derms and them all saying the same thing. 'I don't see it,' or 'You're obsessing.' This thing is a real mind****. Definitely the worst time of my life :(

I know its hard. The realization of your first scar is always tough, even if its a minor shallow scar. It's pretty traumatizing but rest assured you will feel better about it as time passes.

Also, if the area yourevtalking about is dry, peeling and flaky from the meds, it could look indented when under light. If this is the case try a mild exfoliator to remove any dried dead skin cells and pigmentation. Maybe it's not really indented... It could be that the dry patch of skin is holding the skin tight together, thus making it look indented compared to the surrounding skin.

The area is not dry. I now religiously moisturize twice a day. I also exfoliate with a washcloth once a week. I'm wondering if I should exfoliate more? Maybe two, three, times a week? Wonder if that'd help more with collagen production?

Over exfoliating is not good for the skin. You want to protect your skin barrier and exfoliate gently 1x or 2x a week. As far as the scar? I think I would totally forget about it. Its very minimal and the rest of you skin looks healthy!

Thanks I've been doing everything I know to try to heal it. Heavy diet consisting of Vitamin C, E, exercising often, Retin-A, etc. I think I have definitely seen improvement. Also I use Aloe Vera gel which I've noticed really helps to smooth out the skin and make the texture of the scars look less noticeable.

Thinking about trying this. Wonder if it's legit and would help me in my situation.
